My biggest problem with XIV is that there really isn't any sense of progression when you hit level cap. Like 80% of the rewards for all end game content is just aesthetic stuff, and even when you're getting gear from raids there's really nothing mechanically unique about each piece. Everything is just a stat token so getting it doesn't really feel significant at all. At least it doesn't for me

XIV is such an easy game, I don't see why they don't throw a few traits and such on gear to even give the illusion of choice or something. Or if not gear, go the XI route and have other ways to progress your character horizontally. Doesn't even need to be super in depth, even something small would go along way in keeping me interested

1.0 had that. Yoshida removed all of it in the transition to 2.0. Most people defend the decision. It's just not in the DNA of the game. Everything is designed so everyone can clear it. Even something as simple as BLU got murdered out of fear that someone could enter content without the right abilities. The moment you add choice people will screech if you don't bring the Mr. Happy approved build and, likewise, people consider it a waste of time to implement if the end result is the same as now.
Considering people actually defend the state of the healing role just because the numbers are big while completely ignoring the actual creative bankruptcy of the toolkit I wouldn't hold my breath for something like that ever happening. The community is happy with its drab game.

I'm not amazing at scholar or anything, but it seems you don't use your mitigation and HoTs properly, among other things like recitation. Sacred Soil and Whispering Dawn should be used to provide you with -10% on the Shadow Wreck (and a Regen effect) and saves you 1 GCD on Succor.
Also, would have Swiftcast rez on the DPS during the shadow wreck cast as by the time the rez animation finished shadow wreck damage already went out. Then you could Recitation Indom + Fey Blessing. The rest seems like overkill unless you are severely undergeared, but you have the right idea with using Deployment T. and Fae Union, I've seen too many scholars neglect half their kit.

It's all about cycling through your cooldowns and using appropriate healing tools.

For dungeons:
>Pre-shield the tank, and yourself before the pull (with Adlo).
>Use Recitation to give your tank a crit Excog, you can do this out of combat. It's always best to use Recitation on Excog (except for some situations where strong shields are 100% needed).
>Otherwise use Excog wherever possible - so long as it does meaningful healing in the next 45 seconds.
>When the Tank has find their place to start tanking, drop a Sacred Soil on them.
>Spam Art of War and activate Lucid Dreaming at about 80-85% mana, use it appropriately. Art of War is used for weaving.
>Summon Seraph
>Try and time her Consolation to go off immediately after she casts Embrace so as to not interrupt her Embrace (but don't be too bothered if you mess it up)
>When your Sacred Soil disappears, use Whispering Dawn

Oh that's fine. DNC isn't for me either, but I've got no problem with its inclusion in the game. It could have been horribly unbalanced, but against all odds they seem to have actually balanced DNC's low DPS with the amount of extra DPS their dance partner gets.

Sure, it makes individual parses weird, but if overall party DPS is unaffected, then who cares?

Why use them when you haven't even seen enrage? I promise you the first few times you pull will not be the run you want to show off.

It actually takes very little time to level compared to something like the relic weapon quest lines. I took a fresh character to 70 in the span of three weeks just by doing a daily leveling roulette and focusing on questing on the weekends. So long as you stay ahead of the MSQ level, you won't really have any trouble bumrushing through it because you're nearly one shotting anything outside of solo duties.

How long it takes to level isn't the issue, it's the fact that you lose the identity of your character in this story-driven game.

I was actually kinda looking forward to that greyed-out skill icon fake leak since it slated Trick for removal and that had a lot of implications for Ninja. It did call Heavy Thrust and offensive tank-stances being removed at least.

Healing in dungeons isn't the same as raiding. You can heal barely anything in a raid as long as your team is competent, but even if your team is kick ass in a dungeon, your tank will definitely need regularly healing pulling multiple mobs.

as for tanks, I have GNB at 80 and its pretty fun, can't speak for the others, but PLD's and WAR's seem to be really happy with their jobs, DRK's are a bit more mixed but otherwise happy enough other than Delirium bring diet Inner Release

XI is heavily gear based though. XIV isn't, everything is scripted. Throwing in a few things that just add a small touch of variety to play style wouldn't hurt anything. nothing outside of Ultimate is really hard enough to exclude someone for not being optimal

I hate that WAR lost a lot of self-mitigation and Inner Beast isn't a thing anymore (I feel it could've been kept as a separate Beast Gauge skill along with Steel Cyclone) but it still plays roughly the same as it did before.

There is a difference between improving as a player and being told your job is shit and go play something else.

I'm too much of a pussy to dissipate during most boss encounters, but as said as an option, I usually use it near the end of a pull to have aetherflow for the next pull - by which time the fairy and Aetherflow should be back up so you can have 6 Aetherflow at the ready. This is extremely useful for wall to wall pulls, less so if he's pulling 1 pack at a time.
Fey blessing can be paired with pretty much anything to provide a decent bit of AoE healing. Usually use it on pulls like Amaurot where DPS will take damage from things like those blue bombs. Use it whenever you'll get aoe healing out of it is my mantra for it really...
Seraph and by extension Consolation are incredible healing tools because Seraph's heals and consolation cause a shield thats stackable with your shielding, but also it also heal-heals so you get a lot of effective hp out of it. I don't have specific usecases for it besides use it when aoe dmg is going out, or when your tank is big dick pulling and you already fey unioned/blessing'd all your fairy gauge away.

That's how I do it anyway. There are probably better scholars out there that have better explanations but I have found great success in my methods.
