It actively made both worse. You wouldn't post this if you thought otherwise.

The game had some decent ideas but fucked up the execution so badly. Capcom needs to sort out its fighting game division badly.

Maybe OP genuinely likes the game, and hasn't been poisoned by the /r/Kappa mindset.

It’s a bloated 80+GB of ads and micro transactions so I dunno.

I think the game looks great and it’s an approachable fighter for newcomers. And you have to admit that it can keep a healthy online community after all these years. I’m just not sure if it’s worth it when the game is bloated with hundreds of dollars worth of skins and locked stages.

this wasn't the game that didn't even had a story mode at launch?

I mean, it's Street Fighter. Even Street Fighter games released over twenty years ago still have committed players, unlike NRS games that die the weekend they're released.

No, SFV did a lot of harm for the FGC at large.

Perpetuated eSports, encouraged seasonal content updates for characters, casualized and watered down the gameplay

SFV is the most divisive game in the series by far, and I don't expect Capcom to treat SF6 any different. Modern SF is fucking lame as hell

I've loved capcom fighting games my whole life, I'm a huge supporter of capcom and buy most of their shit. but street fighter v is no good.

The sad thing is, they did SO many things right. with how they released the characters in a trickle so you could learn match ups, using fight money to give incentives to play single player modes. every thing about the games content delievery is great, i played the game a lot and unlocked every character never paid for one, just did my weeklies and all my single player stuff to buy characters.

but the gameplay is not fun. that's just about the only problem. and it's a huge one. everything else more or less they did right.
