How does this hold up?

Game play was never great, so its still a mediocre turn based. The story still holds up fine though. It was a brand new story that made you think about the longterm ramifications of immortality.

well, microsoft is selling it for the price of a cheap coffee and i'm just wanting a fun time killer desu

It's a very typical FF-like jrpg in every way but story.
It was like that on release and it's like that now. So sure, it holds up.

It you like to read: good. If you don't like to read: bad.

Piggy backing off this post (since my ip range is banned from creating threads for some reason), I'm thinking about getting Asura's Wratch for $5. Is it worth it bros? I'm considering Blue Dragon and maybe Lost Planet Colonies as well.

Did LO ever get the 4k upgrade?

This. You play as a group of immortals who have lost their memories. Throughout the game you will encounter things that trigger memories. The memories are always text based stories.

Let me be clear, those stories are fantastic, and they are what make an otherwise forgettable game memorable. If you enjoy reading, you will like this game. If reading is boring to you, then you will feel like the memory sequences are a chore and the rest of the game will not make up for it.

>I'm thinking about getting Asura's Wratch for $5. Is it worth it bros?
For $5? Sure. Asura's Wrath is absolutely a moviegame, that is what you are paying for.
Didn't play the others.

remaster when

buying a xbox is too much of a hassle, even if it's cheap

You know if they made a remaster with voice acting on the stories, it would be a top tier release. Some of the short stories are really fucking good.

This combat system made me realize the folly of action commands

You need autism to enjoy like me, well probably not, but it has a lot of "muh poetry" and "deep elements" so if you're retarded you won't understand any of it. You need a good attention span as well, which most people don't have, so that's why I said only hardcore weebs or autistic fedoralords will enjoy it.

I mean, I loved it.

I played it back in 2008, and there are some that still stick with me. Like the chill story about him travelling and meeting a girl, settling down and having a kid. There was that one where he was part of a prison break too. The one with the pirate chick getting stuck in a cave for a century was nightmare fuel. I would totally play it again if there was a remaster, just for the stories.

>Did LO ever get the 4k upgrade?
No, but it still looks much better on One (X) than it did on 360.

Asuras Wrath is QTE Kino. I mean this 100% unironically with pure sincerity.

Are you sure these memories are fantastic?
I remember reading the "famous" prisoner story, it was fine but nothing mind-blowing.

it's good but it can be very difficult

also if you are enjoy reading you will love it

Well, I'm not going to say they're the pinnacle of literature. I've read plenty of novels with superior characters and narrative, but the way they presented the stories was clever, and they were good at tugging at the emotions at the right time.

Muh thousand years dream is bullshit only LOfags try to push as an argument in favour of this mediocre game, those stories are all invariably run of the mill stuff you'll find in dozen of other games.

>actually thinks all walls of text are the same.

Fantastic is overstretching it but they were definitely interesting. I think the fact that they were interspersed in between segments of gameplay really helped too. Don't know if they would have had the same effect if you just read them all at once.

I 100% this game last year. The actual story itself is pretty dumb and has some really really stupid character decisions, but as other people have said the memory stories are good enough to read through. The extra sound and visual effects really help add a layer to them. It has just the right amount of good ending to bad ending ratio that you''re not quite sure what will happen in the moment of each individual story. IIRC, my favorite the old man helping out people who failed to pass a rigorous monk trial.

The actual gameplay is a little weird. The first two bosses are the hardest in the game until the "postgame superboss". Really, the game gets easier and easier as you go on because you unlock more and more OP abilities for your immortals. They outstrip the mortals roughly 2/3 of the way through the game and the mortals never have a chance to catch up. Early on, martial characters and casters are a decent balance, with casters being slower, burst damage while your melee fighters are quicker and deal enough to keep up. Once you get the right abilities though, AOE magic tears through random encounters, even in the "postgame dungeon"

idk where I am going with this. It was fun enough, but I don't think I'll ever play again. Also, Seth is the best character.
