Always happy to see more military sims on the market.

I'd kill for a good ww2 arcade-sim that isn't fucking WarBlunder.

I'd love to see decent WW2 stuff that's not a slav grinder money sink.

About time. Now they just need to be sure to not sell out to some soulless corporation...but if they are back, that probably already happened.

What game is this?

DCS world, you can't control the ships though beyond setting their waypoints and triggers before launch

Attached: 20170408141911_1.jpg (1920x1080, 277K)

Dont kid yourselves. Modern naval warfare is shit. Just spam a thousand missiles and you win. Their defense systems get overwhelmed and they die.
>tfw coworkers keep telling me that the US fleet has all these defense systems and anti missile guns and nothing can get past them
>I tell them that its cheaper to make a million missiles than it is to build one carrier
>They never have a good response

Attached: 20170409131035_1.jpg (1920x1080, 189K)

missile spam looks cool though

I wont deny that but its just annoying that they fell for the propaganda so hard. If an actual war between two nations happened. All the fancy tech would be almost useless because its decently easy to counter. The carriers are no where near as invincible as most people think. And dont get me started on the A-10. If it wasnt for the fact that the US had air superiority and fighting dudes that live in the desert with no real thread to the air forces. The A-10 would be an easy target and have a high mortality rate for its pilots.

IM STILL FUCKING MAD

Not a chance. Outerra is two dudes who got enough money from military contracts to keep doing what their doing. It seems they’re happy with that, and why they don’t say anything of substance on their forum.

source?

I don't think USAF would ever use A-10s, Spectres etc. without achieving air superiority first.

During a Naval wargame exercise here supposedly two carriers got sunk(not for real of course) in a red vs blue scenario in the first 5 hours of commencement by literal swarm tactics of speedboats with torpedos by the red commander.

I heard about that. Didnt he also use guys on bikes to send messages because they couldnt intercept them? Then after the navy lost they rigged the wargame and forbid him from doing anything that would make the navy lose.

If you're referring to what I think you're referring to the red commander cheated the fuck out of it to win on his end, doing shit like using unapproved channels for comms to simulate motorcycle messengers riding at the speed of light to deliver orders and reports, slapping anti-ship missiles that are bigger than the boats themselves onto smallboats, etc.

what do you mean "source?", its their fucking website

That's because they got the information they needed and wanted to move onto further tests. Stopping the simulation entirely because the Navy lost is just a massive waste of resources, even by MIC standards.

I didn't know about this and now I AM MAD TOO

Oh well, at least we had Sky Crawlers.

Attached: yes i mad.jpg (569x571, 172K)

Simulation was deeply flawed. A lot of the speedboat tactics assumed the speedboads had perfect radar camouflage and could travel at light speed.

>>I tell them that its cheaper to make a million missiles than it is to build one carrier
It might be cheaper but how would you launch them all? Just looking at Iran the US would destroy every single naval facility and military base even close to the shore in the first day and then mercilessly hunt down all of your missile sites with continuous bomber strikes every single day for weeks.

>Not building the missiles and their launchers at the same time
Are you stupid or something?

No you are thinking of the older 2002 Millenium Games thing. This exercise happened about 5 years ago or so. Also this was not a US specific exercise but a joint exercise so we were trying to simulate naval invasions and how quickly we could redeploy forces around to defend in Australia

So where are you placing these 1 million missiles + launchers?

New movie, coincidence?

Wherever they are most effective to sink the opposing navy. With modern missile ranges and payloads, dont really need to put them that close to shore. Plus with spy sats that give live feeds a huge fleet is easy to track. Admit it, the navy is a waste of money. No real war will ever break out because it will just stalemate. Too much to lose with no real gain.

based, warthunder is an awful game, so much wasted potential

tfw wtg is nothing but tanks, no one really talks about air or navy. Its hard to make a game about actual vehicles and balance them. Because of the simple fact that some are just straight up better than others. Gotta go fictional for this kind of shit.

Holy shit
Grand Prix 5 when?

>Admit it, the navy is a waste of money. No real war will ever break out because it will just stalemate. Too much to lose with no real gain.
You need something to protect those shipping supplies to key areas of the region user. Can't send it all by air since that's easy to attack, expensive and cannot carry extremely heavy cargo long distances. Still gotta pack it all onto a boat and ship things out and you gotta protect those boats.

Remember me?

Attached: Grand_Prix_4_Coverart.png (252x357, 167K)

This!

Attached: Master of Orion II.png (640x480, 229K)

Ok pal, how many large nations send their navys to attack modern shipping lanes?

Attached: Moo2.jpg (1119x2320, 641K)

So you can't even walk around the boat ala Silent Hunter 5? Lame.

none for now because we are not at a full scale warfare like WW2 you idiot, but carriers, subs and other boats are still used to deploy planes and launch strategic missiles in support.
These same boats are also used as way to avoid war against neighbour nations like some nothern countries does with russia, they are also used in seas filed with pirates so commercial ships don't get raided al lthe fucking time or that companies don't waste all their money on PMC and maritime security

>yfw European Air War remake

Attached: 1562256347375.jpg (466x521, 50K)

None because we're not at world war anymore.

I'm saying various bases and regions need supplies, like food and other materials no matter where in the world. Consider this when you can't ship those supplies across land using rail freight passing through regions that you don't have the right treaties or other paperwork your supply network becomes delayed, worse it can even be confiscated quite easily since you generally won't have an armed escort travelling by rail going through multiple foreign nations borders. Shipping by air is all the problems I listed earlier plus again you may not have permission to fly over foreign airspace either creating problematic supply route again.

Now the sea? International Waters, it's open lanes and can ship supplies long distance and in bulk cargo but you gotta protect them. Still need a Navy for that.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Challenge_2002

Wake me up if they ever decide to make a Falcon 5
With an even better dynamic campaign

>just spam thousands of missiles dude

And where do you put those thousands of missile to be launched? Keep in mind that if the enemy is competent they know you have millions of missiles (because you just can't hide a million missiles.) And are probably coming up with a counter to that.

Game had so much potential, what a shame.

I stopped caring about it, forum is as ded as ever.

I'm aware of that challenge but that's not related to what i was talking about in

Then give me a new Battlestations.

>The company was then shut down by Microsoft on September 2007.
Huh...

>page has to show a "loading screen"
>there's almost nothing there
Oh man, almost feeling like we're back in time.

This thread is full of Germans. Cmon fess up, how many of you are there?

WWII puts me to sleep

h-hallo

Gimme that cold war kino.

What is the best World War II arcade combat flight game out there? Single player so no Warblunder

Are there any good navy games that dont go full autism?

Give Cold Waters a try

Why not DCS?

NOCH EINMAL FÜR MEIN FÜHRER, JUNGS!

The commander of the opposing forces was cheating though. He send messages over radio while claiming it was on motorbikes. The delay in orders would have matterd alot. Also he knew the exact composition of forces and location of every ship.

Not saying that the navy is invincible though, far from it. But the test itself was flawed alot.

>Cheating
>In a exercise to simulate war
Come on man, the navy got outplayed and they threw a bitch fit

Cool story bro but for like the 4th time in this bloody thread I am repeating myself the exercise that was conducted here was NOT related to the 2002 Millenium Games. You could actually try following the chain of replies.

IL2 1946 with your choice of mods

>is unspecific in first post
>bitches that the story is going to live its own way

I think I played Falcon 4.0, Mechwarrior 3, and Recoil. What else did they make?

>Jumps into thread
>doesn't read chain of replies relating to the post
>posts information already been said twice in thread
Are you just one of those people who have an arrogant narcissistic need to listen to their own voice or something?

IL2 1946 is far from arcade

You say that, but some of us manage to lose hundreds of gunships even fighting sandpeople that have no air force.

>not the new MiG-41 interceptor sim
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan_MiG-41

I'd kill for a good ww2 naval sim.

Silly Russians. America supplied those SAMs.
