We killed these by the dozens, or maybe even by the hundreds in Wrath, canonically speaking. They were supposed to be uncommon amongst the millions of normal-ass zombies and gargoyles and spider zombies and so on, but we still killed a whole lot of them in quests and boss fights and such. Now there's only a few of the Arthas-made Val'kyr left, and they're depicted as being boss-level strong half the time for no good reason, when they weren't even really combat units for the Scourge. Sure, the battle maidens or whatever in Storm Peaks with their bear mounts, they earned the right to become Val'kyr through proving themselves in combat, but the Val'kyr themselves are there to gather souls, resurrect the dead, and maybe to darkmend undead units. That's how they were primarily portrayed in Wrath, anyway. But no, now that they're Sylvana's personal extra lives like she's collecting 1ups in Mario, they're just extra strong because [reasons]. Okay.
Because who wins or loses in wow is entirely decided by the needs of the plot, not the actual skills or reasons of the characters.
It's stupid and boring and it kills any investment any sane person has in the universe. You and the npc of the day kills gods on the regular but between npcs the actual powerlevel is completely unknowable; fuck you, everyone is completely evenly matched except when they're not.
