The cookies are World branded and share icons with the icon leak which gives them more validity, but I agree the bar coasters don’t confirm anything considering they use old renders even on monsters already confirmed for Iceborne, they’re 100% anniversary related and not indicative of Iceborne stuff. Also they aren’t gonna reveal every monster before release, they usually do like over half of them but as far as I remember they’ve kept at least a few secret every game.

I don’t ever remember him doing the stab, but to be honest I didn’t play an awful lot of GU. Glavenus’ tail is based on a greatsword while Acidic Glavenus’ tail is based on a katana, and greatswords haven’t ever really been known for stabbing motions.

Yes? Outside the WiiU release of Tri Ultimate, every other version of Monster Hunter we've got recently is the Ultimate version of that Monster Hunter game. World is the first exception to that in a long time. What you're experiencing is exactly what Japan goes through whenever a new MH game is released. They get the vanilla version with high and low rank, then Capcom makes the Ultimate version with G rank stuff and renders the vanilla stuff useless. It's just that we got the Ultimate versions as the default in the West, rarely the vanilla.

Go for it, it has 93 monsters with diverse gameplay to each own.

For me, you should really just wait and play through iceborne first. Then you should get GU if you still want to try it.

Some of them have pretty minor alterations. Might be because of the way the cookies are made, but Brachy has a number of minor autism shit like Lagi where it's similar but noticeably different once you put them side by side.
Rathalos is the same way where he uses the same icon designed for tri and brought back for fourth gen. Even World uses that icon.

I dunno why they bother segregating them for gameplay reasons, but variants are the same species as the original just a rare state of them whereas subspecies are actually a different species albeit closely related. I think variants don’t tend to be as different as subspecies though, usually it’s just a new mechanic and maybe like one or two altered moves.

It also helps that the audio played was Brachy as well. So unless they made a new slime monster with slime that works exactly like Brachy and sounds like Brachy, it's probably Brachy.

Oh shit they should do what Nintendo did with the Banjo reveal; bait us with a Brachydios tease only to show a new slime monster, then immediately afterwards Brachydios shows up too and they fight.

GU is fine if you're new to Monster Hunter, but if you've played any of the older MH games it feels extremely derivative and dull.
I played the original X when it came out in japan and while it was an alright time, it was pretty much the point where i said to myself "alright this series is completely stagnant and dead now".
I imagine it would also feel archaic for someone coming from World, as it still has the significantly worse control scheme of the old games and lacks many of the new QoL features.

Every tease has been something iconic associated with the monster. Narga was his red eyes in the dark with the rattle. Tigrex was straight up just his roar. Glavenus showed a little bit of his tail and then the screen slash. Brachy shows the green slime exploding.
They would have to purposely be trying to make it look like Brachy in this scenario and have designed a monster with his exact same gimmick right down to the green to red slime that only he has.

Don't take those MVs as 100% confirmed, they're just what I got from the beta training pole, but shit might still change, and I might have also just gotten a few things wrong.

It's not just about looks, World has significantly revamped just about all of its returning monsters, so they're basically entirely new fights.

It didn't have an elemental damage penalty, so it should be pretty good. HH is also getting two new elemental-focused Echo Songs, one is a dragon element version of impact echo waves, and the other is a team wide elemental attack boost.

You might be right, but Fujioka stated in an interview that he thought the HH needed a boost in Iceborne so it would definitely fall in line with what he says.
Supposedly Echo Waves is a high elemental damage attack.

Ehhhhh, MHW HH got shafted pretty hard in terms of motion values, I'm not sure I'd call it a buff. They definitely made the weapon easier for corner horners but fucked with the weapon's offensive capabilities.

please, elucidate how it is different. all of his attacks are there. they all just flow smoother togeather, you know not being built on top of a ps2/psp game code really does help.

never said you did, gigginox is a more involved fight than khezu though. Hugging the body is just the easy way to fight with the tradeoff being sub optimal damage, which is true for 90 percent of the monsters that arent gravios and rajang. The only reason i can think of as to why Khezu is chosen over Giggi is that some of the senior devs like the porn that comes from old penis fave

Its belly is literally its most vulnerable hitzone. Hugging the body is the optimal way to fight it, as well as the safest.

Make the belly a 40 or so instead of the 55 it currently is and the head/tail a 60 depending on which one is currently weak, up from 50, and you've solved the problem.

Wings are a new weakspot to make up for this

Charge has a new startup with the intended way to dodge it now being to roll under its wing
Just because the animations are similar to its trademark ones doesn't mean that a few tweaks can't completely change how you have to approach a monster.

Try standing 45 degrees to IB Tigrex's side and draw charging him in the face.

There's a lot of hurdles playing MHGU and most people fall at one or the other. I grinded out the hub with mainly people of equal rank and it took a long while and was moderately difficult (mainly the grinding / upgrading stuff).

Obviously eventually the game streamlines and plateaus. I then tackled village and am still not 100% done. I thought I'd get bored of game at some point but at hr999, large red crown, >2khours, I'm still addicted and enjoying the game (guild card is only 86% complete). Was just getting my arse beat by Event Chaotic Gore G, which hits like a truck.

If anything having red crown / maxed hr etc. makes it more enjoyable for me; it takes a lot of the pressure/frustration out of the game. I've still barely only scratched the surface of the Arena Quests (e.g. XX challenges), which are a whole new ball game. A lot of fun if both choose same loadout.

I feel there's always new armor/skill combinations for me to try and experiment with when I get cold feet or get new ideas. (Athena's ASS helps). A fair amount of equipment is locked behind events (certain weapons / armors). Smithy currently has 128 pages of armor (128 x 8) and 12 pages of GS (12 x 8); that's only the base weapons / doesn't include all the myriad of upgrade branching paths. The point is having choices.

tl;dr it's a mobile game and feels like one. And the 30fps might hurt your eyes at first. but it's also a MH game and feels like one and if you played older titles it feels a bit like putting on a pair of old shoes. It is what it is.

Swaxe got some pretty good changes in MHGU some interesting arts that change the speed of axe mode, or the way the sword gauge depletes etc etc and the styles are quite kind to the Swaxe also. But it's still weirdly slow for the hardest content; where it always seems to feel to me like everything is 1 second slower than it needs to be. But there's plenty of exotic options as far as craftable axes are concerned.

I think Iceborne fixes it. other than the new Axe overhead and buff, the fact that you can manual grapple and instantly go to Zero Sum Discharge is a gamechanger.
