When I was a kid I was really into Gunnm. I found an ISO at this site that also had a bunch of gunnm manga translations (thanks ^ripper). I played the shit out of the game even though I didn't understand a word, and just kinda pieced it together from what I knew from the manga. It's probably not as good as I remember but damn I loved it at the time.

Honestly it's a bit of a shame how under the radar this movie went.

Pick the part where turned into a hunter warrior, extend it by 10 hours and end where the movie ends. There is also the sudden timeskip between the second-to-last and last scene of the movie, you could place in a lot of hunter warrioring and motorballing in there if you want too. Gameplay would be a basic hack-n-slash with cool combos and cinematic takedowns of special enemies, no need to get too fancy.

Yeah, the first series has a better story (for Gally) but the world-building and fight-plotting in LO make the original look like child's play by comparison. I had a realization that LO was only so disliked because people were keeping up with it as it was coming out, which isn't a problem I had as someone who picked up the series just as it was ending.

the problem with Last order is FOCUS, the author doesn't do enough shit in parallel, so you can have several volumes to wait the conclusion of anything. The vampire "arc" is also something you'd expect as a side project, not something that hatls your work for several years. People have to make the difference between LO now, as a complete work you can binge, and the original release that had less than a volume a year at time.

LO last part is mary suish as fuck though. the zott is a fan fanart winner contest prize so it's expected, but the whole karate gods thing is just Kishiro going off track and writting a mini story that should be it's own spin off inside the main deal, with his own MC just being spectators that "ho! and ah!" at the "badass" shit happening.

What I think I liked about the original is that Gally felt like a smaller part of a big world. Each volume of the original was just another part of her life in some shit ass post Apocalypse world and while we did have a big epic save the world event at the end the whole thing just felt more personal. You where watching her as a kid, then an athlete then her trip home and exile a becoming a soldier.

I really liked how you actually felt the passage of time by watching Koyomi show up. She was a literally baby in the first few chapters and then when the book ends she's as old as Gally as then.

debattalbe. the original "gunnm" is more or less the video game. LO keeps the main events of that game but the author has changed his mind and mood on most things now so it's not really the same. Just like his modern art is so bright, and is why the movie is now braight and clean. he changed. But the original run had the charm of an early shounen, (it's only 8 volume after all), and now his vision is more tainetd with sitcom syndrome.

There was plenty of comic relief in the story already, user. Figure 4 is the equivalent to the annoying monkey kid in Berserk.

how?it sets up what Gally has become during a timeskip and a major turning point in the whole story. You can't separate the tuned part from what's before it like that. Fogia serves as a fresh eye that discovers with the reader what really happened all that time. The love part is basically 3 pages, and while unecessary at the moment, it helps growing the drama with Kaos later, which is fine.

Being shot deadwhile Gally still had his cum in mouth would have felt more "gunnm-like" at the time.

That’s the thing. Because Figure Four gets Gally to open up again we basically end up where we started in terms of plot and character, except now she has a boyfriend. If you took out that entire chapter and skipped from getting recruited straight to Lou communicating with her for the first time, you probably wouldn’t even notice a difference (until we got to her rejecting Kaos, but one could easily chalk that up to still being hurt over Yugo).
To me, that’s the definition of a plot detour.

lou doesn't have the cajones or even physical presence to pull alita out of her bloodlust mindset, figure 4's role wasn't so much to give her hot dickings, but to fight alongside her (which is as intimate as you can get with alita) and using that closeness to steer her away from endlessly pissing her life away as an adrenaline junkie
