I usually make challenging speedrun levels, so I tried making something that everyone can enjoy. There are different paths to take and eight 50 coins for people to explore and find. It's easy at face value, but I designed it in such a way that you can speedrun it once you find the optimal routes. The current WR is 35 seconds, I think that can be optimized further.
My other levels are the polar opposite of this so if you want more of a challenge feel free to check those out, but I've shilled those enough on these threads.

Bit Crusade 3 is an adventure series of Mario levels that play in the traditional sense (scaling difficulty, hidden rooms and level theming). So if you like traditional Mario stages you’ll probably like these. The “game” will eventually utilize all 5 styles so there’s a little something for everyone. Every stage has five red coins hidden within that unlock a super bonus room at the end.

the blue snake platform is too insane to not be immediately preceded by a checkpoint considering how much you have to go through again if you fuck up. that's pretty much where i quit.

Yeah it feels good, its my favorite controller to use for a multitude of games. Had to get it a little while back when my first set of joycons got fucked from all the heavy duty smash play but I don't regret getting it, its nice to have a normal controller for things and the battery life is pretty good.

A little late in the thread. Newest stage. It's a flight based ghost house at night. It's harder than Sunny Skies, and because it's night, the tells won't be as effective. Just prepare yourself.
Little hint for third section, it's recommended you do spin jumps into flight. Also, trust the coins, even if you can't quite see what's above you. It's autoscroll.

I have a normal level, the first thing you have to do is spin jump a bomb and you'd be surprised how many "good" players think it's a puzzle.

I played your spooky snow tunnel, why do you have to beat up the skeleton fishes? It doesn't seem to add much to your level, and is mostly just hoping the fishes die off screen as they swim away
The clown car in your 2hu level controls like a demented cow, making the minescule movements you have to make extremely awful, not to mention bouncing on top of an enemy with the clown car makes it spin out of control, and the chain chomps are complete rng to dodge, I couldn't get into the stages after dying too much without making any progress

Weekly medal categories for # of clears, # of WRs and # of first clears. Also a new multiplayer co-op medal.
Speaking of multiplayer, multiplayer with friends is coming. You can even have persistent "rooms" with score tables. They look a little bit like ARMS' online rooms if any of you remember those.
You can now disable comments only for a specific course instead of all your courses.

Very nice. I actually felt like the biggest obstacle was the two on/off platforms at the beginning because you wanted to turn around on the red one, so you had to jump really early.

Dude, looks like a lot of care went into this, but holy shit is it frustrating. Didn't have enough keys for those doors and just quit.
Koopas actually don't despawn vertically, so you can make a vertical level and put that on/off switch in the beginning, then climb how much you want - it won't despawn.

I haven't researched it yet, but I know that the "don't look left" setup in a normal level needs you to repeat the hidden mechanism every so often, whereas in a vertical alignment you only need it once because the game doesn't "un-load" anything in a vertical stage, it just keeps everything loaded.

Make some speedruns. They are very easy to make, are often better with minimal decoration so as to not distract the player while running full speed and are almost always fun.

Really comfy stage, i like all the alternative paths and the switch block bonus room was fun
Checkpoint placement is pretty fair and the stage is decent overall with tight jumps that aren't too pixel perfect, but the snakeblock section is pretty bad. You basically need to do it multiple times, since you can't predict whether you need to run past an icicle or make it drop depending on the snake block movement. And the last icicle is placed in such a way that it feels way too hard to avoid it without just saving the mushroom and damage boosting.

I liked the stage enough to keep going but it's so frustrating without a checkpoint. It's really hard to, enemies constantly fall on your face or that one chain chomp hits you like 0.5 seconds after you go through the door.
I mean clearly there's potential, this stage could be a lot better received if you maybe removed the clear condition and put checkpoints in.

Gonna echo the others, this has such a great pace and level of challenge, really good stuff.
Visually great, very creative and challenging boss design. Teasing the pirhana plant down the pipe was great. You have the bones of a truly great course here but I died twice at the 2nd boss just to figure out what is going on there and lost motivation to finish (camera doesn't show full area as you come up so both times bobombs fell on my head). I think adding a check point and giving the player a mushroom so they can take 1 hit would really improve the flow so that 1st fight doesnt become repetitive.

Thanks for the input and kind words you guys! Yeah, I absolutely agree about the checkpoints. Being my first stage I didn't really know you couldn't have both conditions and checkpoints and discovered it too late in the process. The flag was giving me problems to begin with because I'm dependent on the On/Off switches up until basically the final boss, so I either could put it in the worm puzzle (the initial position) or just before Grandma (where it stayed for a while), but after all I decided on the conditions and it seems I missed the shot. Maybe I'll reupload it!
Also, the factory guard is the enemy that usually gave me more trouble during trials, and part of it is camera problems as one of you anons said. If I got the whole system down one notch I found I could no longer use it to freely jump over the guard, so it kind of fell apart a bit... maybe I'll have to give it a spin too.

That level is my hardest level and all of the jumps are based around being small. The conveyor belts are only at the very beginning -- once you pass those, it's easy street if you take it slow. Sorry you didn't like the level -- it's definitely my weakest one. Give the others a try.

Most items are unlocked from the start vs Mario Maker 1.
You can unlock night themes by placing a sun and changing it into a moon and you can unlock 2 Powerups trough the Campaign mode.

I would have made the pipe at the beginning taller. If you try to jump off the platform you can't see if because of the lava so it's not clear what you are tying to do. Also, that part in general is boring and you have to do it every time for what otherwise seems like a fun stage.

Not fun. Seems to mostly be based around trial and error through repeated deaths, and the "puzzles" aren't set up in a way that can be organically figured out by the player. It seems to encourage rote memorization and brute forcing, which aren't fun play patterns to enforce. The lack of powerups just makes these problems worse.

I like crazy hard levels. Challenge is fun. I will spend hours trying to beat your kaizo level if that is what it takes. These courses being posted are not challenging, just frustrating. I don't want to play a super long normal level where its just a series of precision jumps. Feels more like a test than a game. Even more so where there is a ton of cheap deaths and you have to do it again and again to memorize where all the bullshit is. I really don't know where people are getting ideas for level design, but I am beginning to suspect they either don't play many video games or are edgy teenagers with underdeveloped brains because I don't know how it is possible to make levels this shitty.
Surely at some point in your design process you must realize this is something another human being is going to play, I don't get the impression that the people designing these levels are making this realization.

there's no regrabs in Mario Maker, you can't do that.
Guys according to what I've found when googling and reading some forums, you can get into the hot tab and get 100s of plays quite easily. If you get around 5-6 likes within an hour on a level it goes into the hot tab, if it does well there it goes into the popular tab. We should just coordinate likes on eachothers levels to boost our chances getting into the hot tab.

I wanna make a level that centers around using the invincibility of the dry bones shell (hold down while inside it) so I want there to be a situation in the beginning where the player would think to crouch to progress so that people who don't know about the invincibility thing can learn about it there

Place one way walls facing down 1 tile above ground but this only works if the player isn't small mario.
if they are in a big form (Mushroom, Fire Flower) you can force them to crouch, if they are in small mario I think not.
Update certain of Claustrophobia. Main differences are in the beginning of the level and the bullet bill section.

Nightfall is good, you balanced the darkness out really well with all the various light effects and nice challenges. I found it a little disorienting because of the size so sometimes doubted I was going right direction - but very fun overall.

Minihilly is the thief of the cabal and will steal your makerpoints from right under your chin. He will shame you into playing his levels by fronting you that he has been losing makerpoints.
zankioh, Geewoody, and Silentron are all assassins to all the Lords whom I listed above. Their job is a simple one to sniff out and destroy all whom try to expose cabal members and boo any of the Lords.
