I think what is being exposition dumped on you is important. It doesn't work in MGS4/PW/V because the story isn't gripping and the pace is all over the place. It works in 2 because there's an intriguing mystery and the game itself is like 12 hours long at best, there's no time to lose interest.

All MGS games have action boss battles, and if you cannot aim for shit then that's your fault. Outside of that you can play most of the game with the stealth suit.

MGS2 works better in terms of story more so than gameplay. MGS4 had almost as much cutscenes as gameplay which was crazy, then MGSV is impossible to understand what's going on unless you listen to all the tapes.
