It's not really weird in universe, WoL and friends bumrush to the core before Eden wakes up and conjures a bunch of defenders, and so you fight Eden Prime straight away. It'd be like if they got to Alexander before the Illuminati started mucking around and ran straight to his core. In game it's pretty odd seeing the final form of Eden and the boss with a transition and a 40 second long cinematic attack being the first thing beaten down I'll give you that

The only problem with Ran'jit was how he beat us the first time when we had tons of backup, because it made no sense for us to just slap his shit in our rematch when he transformed and was stronger. He should have just punted us off the fort at Lakeland and had us control Alphinaud or something while he kicked their asses.

If Thancred can't manipulate aether, how could he turn invisible to the eye and stop his flow of aether to hide his presence?

I expect Savage will probably start with Voidwalker and keep Eden Prime for last. It really does feel like there is room for an entierly different second phase in the space arena.
