Real talk. Memes to a minimum please. I want to buy one of these, but I know I won't get the full switch experience

Based on past experience, do you think the regular Switch will see any sales when this launches?

Blamp?

wait for switch with extended battery and they drop the prices on the old ones, buy an old one, then return it for a new one with extended battery

Probably not, nintendo doesn't slash their prices often.

Considering that Smash is abominable to play on a handheld screen, the analog stick sensitivity on the joycons suck dick (just try using arrows in BotW with a non-pro controller), and that the Lite still isn't anywhere near small enough to be "portable", yeah.

Oh I thought you were asking about whether the old model will still be profitable.

To answer your actual question, hell fucking no. This is fucking Nintendo we're talking about.

Yes, the regular Switch will continue to see sales.

It's a case of 2DS vs New / 3DS XL. The former is a budget model targeted towards smaller children or more casual players, the latter is for enthusiasts.

The standard model is getting a subtle hardware revision that achieves extended battery life via improved hardware efficiency (note: not added performance), which reduces energy draw and heat generation.
It's a significant enough boost that for some it will be a preferable system for handheld mode, also considering it has the larger screen.

I don't think normal sales will hurt too much. Unless they could completely renig on the 'requires joy-con to play' meme, you'd have to shell out an additional $80 anyway.

Basically, they should've just done a $50 price drop on the normal model, and introduced a more powerful iteration desu.

Sorry. I meant sales, as in markdowns.

Oh. Eh, probably not.

Seeing as how they have a more 'cost effective' model available, that reduces incentive to mark the standard model down. Who would go for a gimped model when the alternative is $50 or so dollars more? If you're patient, just see what Black Friday offerings there are.

Why couldn't switch lite have a big battery too and get 5-9hrs of life?

I don't give a shit about a hundred bucks off a switch if the games are always 60 bucks.

what exactly is wrong with the lite?

Wait for the revision on the regular Switch with the better battery life. I think that's going to be the best option unless you want to buy a hackable one on ebay.

Why do nintendo games never drop in price? It's fucking ridiculous that a 3 year old nintendo game still cost $60

>Why?

It's Nintendo baby.

The value really doesn't seem worth it.

There's no point to it other than it being cheaper

I use my Switch in both modes pretty regularly. I think the Switch Lite is great for people who do not ever game on a TV. But there are some games which are best in docked mode. Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Smash Couch Co-Op, just to name a few.

If the lower price point is a big selling point for you, sure, go for the mini, but if at all possible, I would recommend getting the full Switch.

What this user said. I'll add that DxM, Astral Chain, Splatoon 2, Prime 4, Bayo 3 and BoTW2 will without a doubt be better experiences when playing docked as well.

Nintendo is inexplicably retarded about their older games; they'd make a killing with a proper subscription-based library of older games, or at the very fucking least just selling their older games on virtual console for not-retarded prices, but the old farts in charge of Nintendo don't comprehend the value that older games have to people so they just pretend they don't exist (except for when it's convenient for them).

This is basically the Pokemon, legend of Zelda and Kirby machine, it was made for people that just want to play those games

What exactly is right with it? It's called a switch and you literally can't switch control schemes or display methods with it.

I remember having a bunch of virtual console games on my wii, and when I transferred shit to my wii u I had to pay for that shit again, but nintendo was nice enough to include a discount...

I never saw the switch as a proper console it's why i can't see anything wrong with it. Maybe i'll grab the lite.

>I won't get the full switch experience
I rather not get the full Switch experience.
