The game has character selection that matters, an Ability selection similar to 3S's Super Art selection (including different amounts of meter required before you can do them), real-time elements that give it mindgames, Also I literally main Ryu & Chun-Li as my main decks.

i play a decent amount of dbfz and USF4 on my pc but my fightstick recently decided to give up the ghost after like 8 years. used that shit during my xbox 360 SF4 days cause it was the cheapest octogate one i could find but it turned out to be surprisingly durable. lasts way longer than all of my friends' fight sticks and theirs were way more expensive than mine
i just havent bought a new one yet since i havent had the drive play dbfz or USF4 after i moved. lots of my friends dont play street fighter anymore and the two that do are pretty hard to get ahold of

Tried to get into Fighterz but didnt like how the game locks some attacks into autocombos. I also dont like how the game plays, like it seems inputs go with 1 second delay or something, dont how if the game was always like that or if is some issue I have with my tv

It's too easy to get sucked into a 4 hour ranked session when I really only have small bursts of time to play vidya since I have other stuff I need to do. Sometimes I play training mode during these times since I can start and stop whenever I want, but other times I feel like actually playing a video game instead of grinding tech, like right now, so I'm playing Fight'n'Rage instead which scratches a similar fighting game itch.

The story mode was fun for the character interactions, especially all the bantz. But the actual gameplay itself was atrocious. They could have put a bit more strategy in the "overworld" section at the very least. The whole thing makes no sense because enemies scale to your level so there isn't even a point of grinding.

Because the fighting game I want to git gud at (and git gud at fighting games in general) is dead and the only people playing it are people well-beyond me.

You pick a game and you play it. Find one you like and try all the characters, find one you think you like and then go online and fight people. If you find you keep getting fucked by any specific thing, go on training mode and figure it out. Once you do, go back online and try out what you learned. Repeat that process until you're good. If you really hit a wall and stop having fun, try out a different character. Maybe you never realized one of them has a tool you really like to rely on that you need, like a fireball or invincible reversal.

Remember that fully learning a character is something that might take you dozens of hours of play/training. Actually getting good could take hundreds. But the good news is most of the time the skills carry over between games/characters.

Because life has stopped me from attending EVO.

Every character has autocombos, yes. But they have different properties, and they're not a major part of most characters' gameplan, aside from 5LL at the start of blockstrings.

It's been a while but Jhala and Azoth mostly. I really liked the hard hitting axe moveset, though I picked up Asuri for a while because her forward sword sig that ran at the opponent was really fun to catch people off guard with. When I first started Queen Nai was the first legend I used for a long time because of how hard she hit as well, but she's just so slow so I stopped using her.

The Spirit Bomb is the problem, because that's not the end of a combo, that could a start of another one.
Now, a character that can play whatever it goes? That shit is fun, every character should be like that.
If you look at certain dlc characters like Broly, Cooler, Videl, 17, Jiren and Kid Goku they seem to belong into a different type of game, one where Beerus could be great if the orbs were better, or Freeza with his zonal bullshit.

She is.
Asuri's a lot of fun, though I prefer her claw moveset over her (still fun) sword - her anti-air dunk is just so satisfying to land when people don't expect it. Besides her, I really like Ulgrim. He's definitely a slower guy, but his rocket lance tends to throw people for a loop, and his axe is brutal at nearly every angle.

Because sf5 came out and it fucking killed fighting games for me. Usf4 was at its peak, tons of hype, massive variety of characters which do completely different things. And capcom killed it all with sf5. In one swoop they killed one of the best fighting games and birthed one of the worst.

look into granblue versus when it comes out. combo routes are much shorter and it's not a big deal to go for the most damage because those combos put you into like a skill "cooldown" for a bit.
