Tekken 7 is a predictable follow-up to a series that's never aimed particularly high, it may please casual gamers for a day or two but the stagnant ongoing series is definitely in the second tier of fighters way below Capcom or NetherRealm Studios games, and it's seriously getting old and tired. The lack of depth and subtlety and the emphasis on the offensive, rather than the defensive, puts this squarely two notches below the best in the genre, the "who-can-get-their-super-move-off-first" gameplay leaves much to be desired from a serious fighting game player. Like the prequels, Tekken 7 is geared towards casual gamers and anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, DoA and MK games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!
If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

They didn't really add much of anything substantial. I mean, it's actually got a REALLY good training mode. Probably even better than Tekken's (it even has built in frame data). But I don't know, it doesn't really feel like enough was done to warrant a new game.

My feelings on a slight chance of Armor King cut are pretty unfounded, but after 5 and 7 it feels like he has a habit of not showing up in the base roster and getting added later. It's more of a hunch than anything though.

Anna just feels kind of shit in 7 so I don't blame them for that. People seemed generally positive about her when she was revealed and I at least saw a lot of them on release day, but she's absolutely miserable to play.
Lei is never going to get a lot of players unless they simplify him, but I'm at least under the impression that enough people like him as a character that he isn't in too much danger of getting removed.

It's kinda easy to get into at first and you might steal some matches against intermediate players by just mashing, but there's a HUGE skill hump between intermediate and advanced.

There are some characters that rely on fundamentals that might be better for learning such as Jack-7, Paul or Kazumi.

It's not hard to get into at all if you play easy to medium difficulty characters. There are some characters that require good execution to do the most basic shit like punishing hella unsafe moves with a launcher. If you avoid them you can get the hang of the game pretty fast. But you should know that Tekken is like a pop quiz sometimes, where you play against an opponent using moves you've never seen and then you lose because you had no idea how to counter them. First couple years of Tekken will be remembering all that shit from a roster of 40+ or so characters. The game becomes hard when you start playing against opponents who don't duck for no reason and randomly throw out unsafe moves.

That was something funny about Shaheen's design process. The Middle East was a rapidly growing market for Tekken so Harada wanted to give them a character that basically panders to them, though didn't really know how to do that. They went through a lengthy process and checked things out with some Arab intern working at Bamco who said that Shaheen turned out pretty cool.
Then the game eventually gets it's home release, Harada goes to Saudi Arabia (I think?) for some event and found that everyone is just playing Asuka and shit instead of the blatantly designed-by-committee character that honestly is sorta boring.

Took me a while to learn too. When I say "a while", I mean I've been playing Raven since T5. Ninjas are always mainly psychological fighting game characters. You just have to be wily.
With all characters though, just go through the move list, learn what moves you can, go to unranked and play play play. When you realize you don't know enough moves to get any better, go back to the move list, learn what new ones you can, then go back to unranked and repeat. Do this over an over until you know the character inside and out. The it just comes down to getting aaaalllllll the situational and combo experience against every matchup which all comes naturally the more you play.

It'll depend on your character too. Some people get away with spaming strings like a retard and doing snake edges with characters like Bryan or Katarina and manage to get to yellow ranks in a few days as a complete noob
just try to have fun and learn at your own pace. Doesn't matter how long it takes to reach your goal as long as you get there

Yes. Just be aware that Steve is a bit unorthodox with his buttons because he's a boxer. I'd advise learning Akuma first to understand the game before moving to Steve.
