Monster Hunter in general is known for its cross overs, but World is the first game in the series where monsters from other franchises have been implemented into the game. Previous titles had crossover weapons and armor from the likes of Shonen Jump, Nintendo, Uniqlo clothing line, and many others. But like other anons have said, these quests picked monsters from the in game roster that fit the theme best. I'm really hoping Iceborne gets another Shonen Jump collaboration. I want my HD pirate armor, Capcom.

Now the real question becomes: what Monster from a different franchise should they put in Iceborne? If it's from Capcom, I'd love to see Orochi from Okami. At the sake of ruining the atmosphere of the game, I'd also love to see a Colossus from Shadow of the Colossus considering Monster Hunter also has climbing/stamina management elements. Could work with the hook claw mechanic too.

Anybody who genuinely thinks this is retarded. I go back to generations often and the only thing that really bugs me in this regard is getting knocked between loading screens in the middle of a hunt because every monster decides to camp in the entryway at least once per hunt.

That's nothing, I last farmed both Teo and Luna in their common quest and, for some reason, their bond attack dropped a lunastra gem I picked fro the floor.
I love luna even if the fight itself is cancer.

Acid Glav itself will probably just inflict defence down. The weapons will probably have a gimmick to them like Seregios and Chaotic Gore Magala gear, I'd imagine.

It had costumes. Peace walker had a rathalos and organic metal gear Rex monster you could gun down after finding trenya.

Just play more and be observant of what your actions as well as the monster's. Playing previous games is only recommended if you want experience previous mechanics or can deal with the fact some mechanics flat out don't exist just yet as of Generations Ultimate and World. If you need to look up weapon guides or just keep fighting the same monster until you get it right. Thing about Monster Hunter is that it's all about repetition. You get better by doing it more.

If you're truly struggling then find somebody able to assist you in some online hunts.

What? His dive is an instant kill, and always has been, but I don't think any of his others moves are as long as you have decent armour and the usual defense buffs. If you know how to kill any other version of Nerg, the Arch-Tempered one's dive shouldn't pose any additional problems even though he does it more often, the tell and speed are identical. If he roars and all his spines are black, he's going to do it. Sometimes you'll see his spines change colour as he's roaring.

Those are just small monsters though, not something big and difficult to kill. I think it makes more sense that the chefs just get meat from Aptonoth and stuff, some of the more dangerous monsters probably have status effects running through their flesh.

If there's one thing I liked about World's visuals is the underlying muscle with cut parts.

Most of the others in that pic were already teased, we have some clues (like Seregios' glaive) and are featured more prominently meanwhile Valstrax is barely visible and you can't tell if he's got a new render or not. It'd still be weird if all the others get in and he isn't but out of all of them I'd say he's the one I doubt the most and the one I want the most as well.

Game is designed for a controller and the default keybinds for M+KB are for aliens but do whatever works
Keep your armor upgraded
Elemental resistances actually matter a lot on certain fights
Save item and gear loadouts to save hassle/time later
Try every weapon and see what you like best, then stick with it until you don't suck

I don't know how good the KBM controls are but keep in mind that the game was designed with controllers in mind
All your Low Rank equipment will be useless when High Rank comes and don't forget to upgrade your armor or simply get better armors if your defense isn't cutting it anymore

do the weekly bounties or whatever they are called specially if they give you gold paw prints will help with getting rare monster parts.
this game is not about button mashing, there are some specific combos try to get used to them in the training area

Use a controller. Fight the first boss with all 14 weapon types and then pick the 2-3 you like the most to focus on. Armor isn't useless, but not enough that you have to go out of your way for it. Just craft some when you're able. Don't worry about wasting armor spheres (the defense upgrading materials), you get exponentially better ones as the game goes on making the early game ones entirely worthless. Try to solo every new monster first and then only go online after you are confident that you won't faint to it. The best experience is story progression done solo, farming for gear upgrades done in multi.

Unlikely but Chaotic Gore is my favorite version that I want in. Regular Gore is a punching bag to me and Shiggy is an improvement but Chaos ticks all the right boxes for a hunt.

As someone who also started with World for the same reasons, try to skim over a couple videos on the weapons / try them out yourself to see which one resonates more with you, they're all viable even if some are better than others. Just go with what you think is the coolest. Then enjoy the game at your pace, but be wary that unlike other games most of the main story is actually an extended tutorial and the real meat is the endgame, or at least once you get to HR (high rank). I was pretty thorough with LR and crafted basically every armor for every monster which was fun but not needed, don't be afraid to rush things a bit until you get to HR if you feel you're outpacing the game. Also while the community ends in a lot of shitposting here, they're still nice, so don't be afraid to ask questions, the game can be quite overwhelming if you're new to the series.
