Playing this right now for the first time to ready up for dmc 5, im at the beginning of the second game.
When does it get good?
I heard you cunts constantly talking about this shit, i thought it was like a god of war of sorts and had a full fledged story, but after playing the first one i'm not so sure.
His romance with trish just came out of nowhere, she appeared 2 times in the castle stalking him and later fighting him and at the end out of nowhere dante loves her?
Go to a castle and kill a bad guy - the game, no story beyond that.
Should i give up on this game series?
Devil May Cry
Honestly just play 3.
First one is decent game. but not so great. I always told anons to start with third game or go straight into new fifth game.
3 is the only good one man, just forget 5 and play 3
3 really? i heard 4 was the best
They lied, literally the only good games are 1 and 3, Nero sucks dick
Oh user, it's really just an action game with combos and "style". The story has always been weird shit.
4 is half a game. The combat is fine but everything else is shit. 5 is a strict upgrade aside from the lack of Vergil.
>romance with Trish
He only gave a shit about her because she heavily resembled his mom
If you want to appreciate the growth of the series then play chronologically. You can skip 2.
Dmc 1 still has very tight combat, with some of the best enemies and bosses in the series. Camera is the only drawback.
Dmc 3 builds on everything from 1 except better and more complex.
Dmc 4 is unfinished but makes up for it in gameplay.
Dmc 5 has a complete story, with all the combat tightened to perfection and is a joy to play.
>just forget 5
Fuck off you abhorrent cunt
play 3, then 1, then 4, then 2 and then you can play 5
actually don't play 2 if you don't want to, it kinda sucks but the music is fucking good.
all you need to know is Dante goes to the demon realm
Why are you "readying up" for a game in a series you've never played before?
This really.
5 has a lot of callbacks to the previous game, if you care just play all of them execpt 2.
i wanna play 5 but i just don't want to go blind without knowing anything about the characters or story
So skip 2 because there's almost zero story in it and an extremely mediocre game. Also, try to play them on the harder difficulties after finishing the normal run. That's when it starts to get more enjoyable.
The 1st is worth playing and it's not that long. Just skip the second don't be a puss.
>i heard 4 was the best
I've seen alot of different opinions on which is the best but I rarely see 4 as the best game. Maybe the best gameplay/combat but not as a whole game.
Skip 2, it's so inconsequential that the summary of it in DMC5 is two sentences.
It's literally
>Dante stops a guy
>Goes to hell to fuck shit up.
That's it, that's all you need to know.
>muh story
DMC is about the combat.
But DMC3 has a decent story in my opinion.
>play 3, then 1, then 4, then 2 and then you can play 5
Not playing in release order is silly when the gameplay itself changes so much between releases.
1 is still the best though. Itsuno does some things well but it never felt like he topped 1 in most areas except for flashiness. I still find 1 the most satisfying to play.
Why do people shit on DMC2 so much when, other than the pacing and most of the gameplay, it's not that bad? Running on walls is fun as hell, and I dont mind a dedicated dodge button.
There's a summary video you can watch on youtube.
Skip 2. 4 has great combat but the level design and shortage of enemies/bosses is a damn shame.
I played it up to the helicopter boss and imho the story was boring, the areas looked bland and the gameplay just wasn't really fun
>Most of the gameplay
That's it's entire selling point and that's why it fucking blows.
Why would you defend a game without functional gameplay?
>5 is a strict upgrade aside from the lack of Vergil
Don't remind me, user...
Nice bait
>Playing DMC for the story
so, when will we get playable Vergil?
Next gen, along with Lady and Trish
tgs announcement
The gameplay is boring at best and non-functional at worst. The game is chock full of flying enemies and their AI functions in such a way as to limit the ways you can engage them when combined with the open environments and camera shenanigans.
What do you guys think of the side-arms in DMC1? I tried using Ifrit today but it was pretty frustrating. I'm on NG+ now too so I have all the swords, but I don't know which is best.
I wish my lips looked like that. I'm bringing this picture to a plastic surgeon.
I want the DMC collection's DMC2 so baaaadddddddd
the grenade launcher is pretty OP
I have to imagine he'll be a Deck Hero in Teppen eventually. Nero will be one first.
>that moment of PTSD V has after contracting with Shadow and his memories of becoming Nelo comeback.
What's more fucked is he just endures it and moves onto Nightmare knowing that more memories will flood him. He's willing to confront and endure his nightmares to stop Urizen. Vergil learned a powerful lesson as V.
Alastor is best sword
For me, it's Ifrit + Shotgun.
Really wish those scenes were in the game it'd get people to stop calling the story shit when it's not. Capcom needs to give itsuno a bigger budget so we could have gotten mporemissions and better pace.
*BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG*
because that is what playing it sounds like
>instead of Vergil it'll be V
They make vergil a dlc like they always do
I played this recently and I am honestly surprised at how much better the controls feel in 3 compared to 1. I thought it was just shitposting
The only good things DMC2 did was adding all that mobility to Dante and that fantastic looking DT
3 is literally them going "alright, let's do it right this time" after the colossal fuck-up that was 2.
It's generally considered one of the best action games of all time for a reason.
>Capcom needs to give itsuno a bigger budget so we could have gotten mporemissions and better pace.
Maybe if they made the music inhouse instead of with weird bands, didn't waste a bunch of the budget on music videos, and didn't force Dante being playable on the second half of the game, things would've turned out better
>force Dante being playable on the second half of the game
>less variety for muh story
no fag
5 is awful, its way worse than 4 and 4 is pretty bad already
Don't respond to bait, bro.
I see you are a dmc5 bootlicker
No need to argue with autistic mongoloids like you.
Did you misread what I wrote?
>He's willing to confront and endure his nightmares to stop Urizen.
This is how you cure borderline and ptsd to some extent, it's a good thing most people don't turn into literal demons though.
>playing video games for the story
Get a load of this faggot.
>thought it was just shitposting
You mean like you currently are. DMC3 has combo framework that's easier on the player. I always get the feeling the og DMC requires more precision with it's attacks. You don't have a whole lot of moves but there's a damn lot of utility packed around each. Sword cancelling through alastor is so satisfying too. I'm not here to make combo videos faggots, i'm here to fucking shred bitches to bits in seconds.
How's Teppen, user? I just came across it in Google doc play and I'm wary of it just being another Jewish gacha.
>You mean like you currently are
He isn't wrong that 3 controls better though, I love DMC1 but it feels too damn stiff sometimes
I can see the Legendary V unit already
>8MP
>1/8
>[Shield]
>Resonate: summons either Griffon (2/4 with Flying), Shadow (3/5), or Nightmare (4/7, when in play MP cap is -4)
Ifrit works well against certain enemies. Frosts for example can be stunlocked to death with directional forward. Though Meteor is a fantastic attack against any annoying enemy
It's not a gacha, it's a card game with real-time elements. You get 30 free packs of the Core set when you start and you get more from leveling Heroes and doing Log-in Bonuses (plus you can buy them with Zenni). Every card in the game is craftable with Soul (which is pretty generous except for Legendary-tier cards and you can get by destroying cards you don't want) except for foil versions and the 4 Secret Rares, but those are functionally identical to existing cards. Character selection (with Hero Abilities that are kind of like picking your Super Art in Third Strike) and real-time elements make it more interesting to me than other card games. There's a Season Pass but all it gives is a faster way to get Zenni/Card Packs and a one-time half-off craft of a Legendary, so you don't need it.
Based on how they either don't appear on a card or only appear in the background, I'm pretty certain that the next batch of heroes will include Nero, Jill, & Demitri (and characters from series not in the game yet, of course).
>When does it get good?
It gets bearable when you play as Trish on DMD
>Every card in the game is craftable with Soul
Every character in Fate/Grand Order or Granblue Fantasy is also obtainable with their in-game currency. Saying something like that doesn't mean much.
What matters is how big of an advantage you can get from paying real money.
>What matters is how big of an advantage you can get from paying real money.
Nothing really. I've pulled several legendaries and 5 Secret Rares just from the free Pack passes I've gotten, and apparently every 30th pack has way better odds at good shit.
I've got little experience with gacha games, in all honesty but I've had absolutely zero pressure to pay money because you get 80% of the cards just from unlocking every Hero (takes like an hour to get all eight, and you get 400 Soul each) and opening my free packs.
DmRUoaN wasn't good until 3. Change my mind
In my experience the only time I thought to myself "Damn, I wish I had that card" was when I was trying to build a Mono-Purple Dante deck and realized that I don't have Devil Trigger, which is really good if you stack it with Resonate. Even then, Purple doesn't need that one card to be viable; spamming Halt with Darkness Illusion Morrigan does plenty.
>I've got little experience with gacha games
I see. In that case, there's little point in trying to compare the two. From what you're saying, though, it sounds like it has pretty similar rolling mechanics.
If DMC1 wasn't good, it'll have the same fate God Hand got, which is obviously not the case
If the story is what you care about, then yes, you absolutely should drop the series.
Thanks user, I'll give it a shot. I do expect to feel jewed out within a month, but might as well check it out.
Shut the fuck up niglet. I'd dare you to say the same shit about a castlevania game. Too clunky and stiff for you non-adaptive ass more like.
K I C K 1 3
If you want to feel like a winner, play Nergigante with Spike Launch and Green support, aka the best build in the meta. There's a feature to transfer decks via QR Code so I'm sure you can find one.
>friend drops the game at Vergil 3
Plenty of people would probably say that. There's a reason the more fluid games (IV, SotN, etc) are generally held in higher regard than the ones with more rigid controls.
Preferring one over the other is perfectly fine.
Dude I love DMC1, and would full out support Kamiya to come back to the franchise, but it's true that 3 controls better
i never had issues with dmc1 controls beyond trying to work around the shitty camera. in fact the way it feels to control dante has held up very well over the years
alright then.
then drop him as a friends
Didn't mean to make it sound as if DMC1 controls badly, just that DMC3 did a better job on that regard
Force Edge/Sparda are useless, forget about them.
Alastor is good for anything but Frosts and Plasmas
Ifrit is good for anything and especially good for Frosts, pretty much anything but Inferno is good against any enemy in the game.
E&I are frankly useless against anything that isn't a Beelzebub.
Shotgun is monstruosly good, it devours cats and fucks over mostly anything that isn't a pissed off Frost, pretty much one shots Sin Scissors too.
Grenade launcher is the hard counter to Griffon, but outside of a bunch of rooms on higher difficulties it's only good for DT meter farming.
Nightmare-β...is very situational, it can either be absurdly strong or a complete waste of time, it does shine on higher difficulties in certain rooms where it can almost guarantee an easy room wipe of pesky enemies with ricochets and if aimed properly can do MASSIVE fucking damage to Nightmare cores.
What if we get a Urizen card too?
I expect a bunch of DMC5 cards to drop whenever Nero becomes a Hero. Nico, V, Urizen, Goliath, Artemis, chicken, a new Vergil card with his 5 look because the existing Vergil card is actually kind of weak, Cavaliere Angelo, etc.
Urizen might get a card based on his first fight and a separate one based on M17. If characters like Colonel and BB Hood can get two cards then Urizen can.
