I took the advice of not googling shit and just did what felt right at the moment. Made a female cat with no regards to minmaxing from the beginning, Light Armour, Short Blade, Block as major skills, among with Conjuration because I've never played this skill in any TES game fefore. Took Mage as a specialization, minor skills being Alchemy, Illusion, Alternation and Enchant, which I sorta regret but keep playing this character either way. Instead of following the main quest I went straight to the Mage Guild and went along with it.

>Brotherhood assassin spawns behind me before I can heal shit
>run away with a minor speed advantage like a retard
>get totally lost, pull countless rats and cliffracers in the process
>finally find back to Balmora
>guards attack aggromobs but don't give a shit about the assassin on my tail
>run back to the guild
>enemies can't open doors
>sleep and recover
>assassin still at the guild door
>cheese him slowly while NPCs just do their daily routine around me
>get sweet armour

I expected Alchemy to be an easy way to make a quick buck like in Skyblivion, but it wasn't. After some quests in the Mage Guild, I ended up taking Alchemy training from the cat chick, paying her in valuable ingredients. After being so short on money, I followed the main quest for a while and ended up in the Thieves Guild, despite being unable to sneak or trade for shit, the mere idea of making money selling Dwemer artifacts convinced me. So now, wherever I am, I steal all the liquor to pay for my alchemy training.

What I'm saying is, not knowing what you're doing and not savescumming too much is what makes Morrowind an amazingly immersive experience, it's like you're really a dumbass alcoholic cat trying to figure shit out while slowly getting gud.
Why was it considered a pleb filter anyway? The game is quite straightforward if you know what you are and are not capable of.

I was talking from subjective experience, none of my friends showed any interest in it back when it was fresh. Years later Oblivion came out and we played it excessively, so we remembered Morrowind as "that thing before Oblivion". Now after I played Skyrim, Oblivion and all 3D Fallouts I can see how progressive Morrowind must has been back in the day, combining traditional RPG mechanics with FPS gameplay.
