Red Dead Redemption

Why does this games story get so much praise? The gameplay, open world, characters and side missions are all awesome but the story itself is shit. You just keep doing favors for characters to get information on where Bill and Javier is. The story finally picks up when Dutch gets involved but that Dutch only lasts for like 6 missions and we dont even meet Johns family until the end of the game.

Stop reading right there, don't even care what the rest of this post says because you didn't even play it & just watched a youtube walkthrough

he didnt say it was exceptional. its good and functional and provides some fun.

>You just keep doing favors for characters
Thats Rockstars writing in a nutshell

>Why does this games story get so much praise?
It doesn't, really. The main thing everybody always talks about is John's death and Jack's arc, which are probably the only good parts of the story.

I see more people praising characters they liked (John, Uncle, Ricketts) than I do the story itself which is probably one of the last ""video gamey"" stories Rockstar did where it felt like more of an excuse to give the player missions than an actual narrative. GTA V did it as well (the entire game felt more like set pieces like "rob a bank" and "blow up this airplane" than it did an actual story) but I feel like it won't really happen anymore. The Houser brothers finally get to pull their puds going all-out writing single player games and the investors get their kikebux from the multiplayer modes so it seems like a good enough synergy to keep this flow for a while.

>doesnt even explain why the gameplay is bad
Are you sure you're not the one who watched a walkthrough faggot

rdr1 horses handle like motorbikes compared to rdr2

And you went sucking a big cock, yeah shut up faggot.

>It doesn't, really
