It's one of the best money making games of all time, not the same as the best game.
best games of all time? i would say no.
its not a bad game though
faggot
Soulwax FM is the greatest mix of all time and Change of Coast by Neon Indian is the best synthpop song of all time. Sold the game back years ago, but still listen to the music on a weekly basis.
It's good the same way Avatar is good. It's competently made and geniusly presented. It throws in everything just about everyone woud want, so too expect more looks like expecting too much. GTA5 has got alot of issues, but never enough to sink it.
It is the best GTA.
GABRIEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL~
Yes and I didn’t pay a dime, you can run business and unlock pretty much everything.
Is argue law of diminishing returns. Like, sure, had I played this game in 2005 or even 2008 it would’ve blown my fucking mind to the moon and back. But playing it when I did, having already played *insert all previous GTAs and your top ten games of all time here* it really didn’t do anything special.
It was great and yet somehow underwhelming. Needed more side activities and more enterable buildings. The map felt weirdly skeletal given its insane level of visual detail.
First GTA game I didn't even care enough to finish the main mission storyline of, and I played the previous entries in the series to 100% numerous times each
It is a literal downgrade to GTA IV in everything except higher resolution graphics.
IV, a 2008 game on a 2005 engine, had more details, Liberty City literally felt like a actual city and the NPCs felt like they live there.
In V they sometimes stand unmovable like a wall or street latern in circles.
In IV you had hidden phone numbers, could go in a lot of buildings, could actually interact in the game internet.
In V you could... invest money... I guess?
IV had gunplay inspired by Heat and the weapons felt real.
V has airsoft weapons that kill people. They have a fucking minigun in it and it feels weak as fuck.
IV had a actual well written and thought out story with an actual serious attempt to sell a classic gangster story in a interesting way, it's kinda a prototype for the Red Dead series in some aspects.
V is just a awful A team episode mixed with a bad Heat parody.
Also V is pretty much obsolete now that RDR2 exists and does everything better. That the same guy wrote this and V is irritating, the quality of writing is night and day.
is it good?
yes, absolutely
is it the best of all time ?
nah
Unless your a GTAO sperg GTA has basically been a trampoline since San Andreas. Nothing in GTA has ever really felt good--the jumping, the running, the shooting, the driving, but now even the writing is terrible. Really a shame.
man you want mirrors edge mixed with arma mixed with project cars
this is what ruins aaa games, spoiled players
Contrarianism aside? Skyrim, hands down. Not even a contest, dude. Be real.
Wrong
I didn’t like the story mode very much and I lost interest in online about a week after it launched
I don’t think it’s a very contrarian opinion for this to be your least favorite gta
>I don’t think it’s a very contrarian opinion for this to be your least favorite gta
I think that's not what OP was trying to block from this thread. There's a very loud minority on Yea Forums absolutely sperging out on GTAV:
>ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
>WORST OPEN WORLD GAME EVER
>EMPTY AS A DESERT SANDBOX
etc etc.
those type of faggots need to stay away
It's not even the best GTA. Trevor was definitely the best protagonist of the series, but every mission was planned for you and you had to play it exactly how the screenwriters planned it.
Absolutely.
It's a fantastic technical achievement and perhaps the most detailed open world game of all-time.
It learnt from its mistakes (GTA IV) and brought fun back in the form of quicker movement and more variety in gameplay. The perfect follow-up.
The fact that so many people still play it after so many years is a testament to its quality.
It has a good but flawed singleplayer. And despite the never ending amount of bullshit thrown into the multiplayer, it is suprisingly fun.
Good not great game.
>It learnt from its mistakes (GTA IV)
It didn’t. I’d say it even dropped the ball where IV succeeded.
>and brought fun back in the form of quicker movement and more variety in gameplay.
Yoga and submarines. Fuuuuuuuuuun.
No
>more weapons
>more vehicles including planes and military vehicles
>more customisation options
fun
>Trevor was definitely the best protagonist of the series
>zero character development
>no real emotions to speak of; aside from serving for comic relief
>literally the meme of the three protagnists
I'm not saying michael or the black guy were any good; they were definitely much much worse, but in no way is Trevor the best protagonist of the series.
Thick traffic on narrow streets and tipping sideways when taking a corner faster than 10 mph. Fuuuuuuuuun.
trevor's the kind of guy who gives missions and you end up killing if he were to appear in previous games
>Trevor was definitely the best protagonist of the series
>every mission was planned for you and you had to play it exactly how the screenwriters planned it.
This was my least favorite thing about the heists, especially when your two choices barely made any difference apart from the last heist.
>more weapons
GTA V guns sucked ass compared to IV’s in usage, SFX and feel.
>more vehicles including planes and military vehicles
Useless when you realize the attack helicopter and tank are all you need.
Sounds better than scoping out the docks and getting killed by cops who standing too close.
>Sounds better than
No it doesn't. The driving sucked fucking dick in IV, and that's what the majority of a GTA game is going to be: driving. You could make up a thousand shitty scenarios about how you suck at video games, but that won't compare to the flaws of GTA IV.
No. It's business model represents literally everything wrong with the gaming industry currently, it's story was laughably bad and in a lot of ways it regressed compared to GTA4 and Max Payne 3 when it comes to combat.
why do people not like trevor? i thought it was pretty clever of rockstar to make a character like him.
he's the personification of how the average gta player acts in the game; he's a fucking psychopath
*its
There was a trade-off.
My point was that people complained that there weren't enough weapons in GTA IV and Rockstar remedied it by giving us more in the sequel.
I enjoyed flying planes.
Director mode was nice but needed more flexibility, like allowing multiple actors in the stage and give them different roles
>Wanted to set Tracey as hooker and pick her up
>Cant
why
hi todd
Graphically and free roam wise sure, as soon as you start a mission and follow an orange line that's where the game becomes shit. Every mission is on rails and sucks balls that you don't have the freedom to do the missions the way you want to. The game overall is good but they should allow you more freedom when doing missions.
Trevor would've been a better character if he stayed true to his "psychopath" persona. Trevor would've killed Michael and slaughtered his family at any point after finding out he faked his death and sold out his crime partners in order to go into witness protection if he were a true psychopath like the game hypes him up to be.
Same exact problem RDR2 has. If GTA VI doesn’t remedy this I swear to god I’m done with rockstar. They’re literally trapped in 2008 with their mission design.
>trevor
>best protag
good god
>I can’t drive for shit in GTA the post
Get better at it faggot instead of blaming the game for your mistakes.
Aside the obvious, the fact that Trevor never gets any kind of negative consequences for his actions make the story hard to tolerate. He pisses pretty much every group he interacts with and nothing ever happens to him, despite the fact he's passing out on the street every two days. The Lost know where he lives and instead of ambush him they just "trash" his already trashy trailer. Madrazo can't find him a few miles outside LS and is affraid of him. The chinese don't even bother looking for him and Merryweather can't just drop an airstrike on his face. And even when all that happens, he can't simply go after Steve Haines or Devin Weston personally until the final mission, when he should have taken care of them halfway through the story.
>There was a trade-off.
It was a loss. Now we have all these gimmicky guns that have no use, while every gun in IV was great and then you had the DLC guns that even stood out even more, in a good way.
Don't ever fucking reply to me again, you fucking braindead zoomer. If you actually believe that IV's driving is anything like any other GTA or even remotely good then just go take a knife and drag it across your throat, you'll be doing the world a favor.
Don't be so dramatic. It was backwards step but it wasn't that bad.
Slaughtering millennials wholesale felt so heartwarming...
>you fucking braindead zoomer
Lmao, I’m not the faggot who plays V.
>just go take a knife and drag it across your throat, you'll be doing the world a favor.
I’ll go right after you. :^)
>It was backwards step but it wasn't that bad.
It is when you consider how much you’ll be shooting in the game. The gun SFX are fucking weak in this game. Why is it that San Andreas always has the shittiest SFX in the GTA Universes?
They weren't weak at all. Weaker, but not weak.
>They weren't weak at all.
>Weaker, but not weak.
So in other words, yes they’re worse compared to IV.
Yes, I said that like 5 posts ago.
>wow I can't wait to watch franklin's progress into the crime world and the mentor/trainee relationship between him and michael evo- oh he just has a giant house and that bit's over now
zzz
Based, V sucks ass.
Yes.
Nah, it was fun.
K zoomer.
sorry to tell you but the gameplay style calls for an irredeemable psychopath, not some misunderstood massmurderer with a heart of gold. And yeah, tweakers are waay under represented in crime fic. You can't talk about crime in CA without acknowledging the prominence of dirty ass tweakers. They're a special kind of scoundrel that will gank your wallet and help you look for it later.
youtube.com
show me an example of a better GTA protagonist, would ya?
I got GTA IV on release day and I had never been more disappointed in my life.
Figures, only autists who would like V are disappointed in a slow burn criminal simulator like IV. Truly the pleb filter of the series.
>but the gameplay style calls for an irredeemable psychopath
Lmao, GTA V couldn’t be farther from that. The game requires you to strictly stay on line for most of the missions, even more so than the other titles in the series.
Grand theft auto games are so fucking boring. Literally every mission is drive somewhere, listen to characters have a boring ass conversation, shoot 3 guys, drive a forklift, drive back somewhere else.
The heists are cool. It's a shame there are like 3 of them and they all take like 5 minutes. Game could've been good with a bigger focus on them.
>misunderstood massmurderer with a heart of gold
Except that's literally how he's depicted. Why does Trevor suddenly have morals when it comes to someone like Michael or Franklin and the people in their lives? He clearly has no regard for the people in his life judging from the way he savagely kills Johnny, Floyd, and Debra. A psychopath wouldn't be bound by any of that because they're completely irrational. Remember the nuke that he stole? Why would he suddenly give that up just because Lester and Michael were pissed? Trevor is more of a sociopath, like any other GTA protag, he just does "lel wacky and randum XD" things for the sake of comic relief and for fluff.
> GTA IV fags seething that nobody likes their piece of shit game
Pleb Filter is a literally a word that contrarians use to gatekeep about terrible games. Any time someone uses it to defend a game, it will always be complete garbage 100 % of the time
Nah we arent seething we just enjoy making others play actual games.
>the gameplay style calls for an irredeemable psychopath
I've seen this argument before, that trevor is meant to be a reflection on the average GTA player. Here's the thing though.
1. Everything we do when free roaming in GTA is technically not canon. It doesn't need to be justfied by the character itself, nobody treats it as reflective upon anything.
2. It's no longer fun to go off the rails in GTA if the game is specifically prodding you in the face with a wacky character and asking you to go do cuhrazy things.
Cope more faggot
I am not copeing with anything just stating basic fact my dude. If anything why dont you load up a game. For example I am playing Stalker
Lmao, ya got filtered.
