The Malkavain run in the first game felt like it had some thought was actually put into it. You had the whispers about the characters you were talking to, the random shit your character said revealing parts of the game if you were paying attention or were on your second play through,and how Heather was more accepting of being a vampire though your gift of madness. Some NPCs at least reacted to you being insane, even if they went into their normal dialog shortly after the first changed line.

I fully expect VTMB:2, at best, to have the normal dialog options available, NPCs won't react at all, and there will be the Bethesda tier "[Malkavain] We LiVe In A sOcIeTy" special response.

I enjoyed the fuck out of the Malkavian run because of the great amount of attention to detail there was with it.

I do remember the jokes. I fear that every line of dialog written for Malks will be an attempt to one up the stuff from the first game. The stop sign was great because it wasn't expected. It wouldn't have been great if it happened every time you got near any sign. A stand-up comedian can't go up onto stage and say the same joke for 2 hours and I fear this game is going to do just that with Malkavian.

Disappointing gameplay, simplified combat, and bad looking animations during the demo's.

It is atmospheric as fuck and the story is quite good - especially in the first half during the Dark Ages, but the game itself is essentially a dungeon crawler with a bunch of gimmicks - by the time you run through multiple levels of Cappadocian, Nosferatu and Tremere themed dungeons the game starts to get a bit samey.

Why does it matter anyways, it'll be a first person only game.

I appreciate weakening the Cam and having the elders fuck off to the middle east. Castlevania 1 fits in with vtm lore. Dracula uses his level 5 Kuldunic sorcery to hurl magic at Simon and even assumes his zulo form when he realizes Simon is an actual threat.

Yeah, melee combat looks worse than the original. I know the game still has months of polish it can go through but I don't know how much they can really improve that.

The Sabbat aligned Tzimmies are off playing crusader in arabland with the rest of their faction but the nonaligned old ones are still around in their little city. There was nothing about them dying out and one played a major role in Beckett's diary, the leadup to v5. I just dont think they have rules yet.

Tzimisce still exist, don't worry. They just aren't implemented in the V5 rules yet.

I'm assuming it's the same reason they got rid of Sabbat in general - Gehenna came, the world didn't end, but there had to be consequences in terms of the balance of power. Plus having a bunch of raving retards in the modern world, now with smart phones and satellite imagery, ensured they didn't last too long when the second inquisition rolled around. In addition to smoothing out the combat and improving the humane aspects of kindred (becoming flawed, cursed beings rather than superheroes with fangs) V5 is very good at adapting the idea of secret vampire society to the post-2000 era.

You are pretty much stuck with the seven basic clans and Anarchs by default. Tzimisce and Lasombra are kinda-sorta there, but they are just non-playable and glossed over completely.
They got rid of Sabbat entirely, with Camarilla taking over as the "evil establishment" and baddies by default. We live in 2019 and all that.

Alright. They definitely won't get in the game without a clan affiliation tho, so there goes my dreams of using Vicissitude in a video game

The simpler dance probably worked in the original's favor. Making the dance more complex makes some of the stiffness of the model more apparent.

Who the fuck cares about Anarchs? They were a joke of a sect in previous editions. A bunch of weak-ass, misguided brainlets that nobody took seriously, because they were only good at throwing tantrums. Serious players played Camarilla vs Sabbat. Those at least had some lore and structure behind them.

I got a group of five people together pretty easily for my current V5 campaign. We've been doing it every week for about two months now pretty consistently, and having a blast.

20 is still fun to play but it's really limited to early 2000s or earlier. It sucks having less clans to play as (though the expansions add Assamites and the Ministry) but the revised hunger and thin blood gameplay is super fun. Makes sense - the population is exploding and the blood of Caine watering down. The focus isn't so much to be an encyclopedic collection of the entire lore, but for a much smoother and unpredictable session - as a writer I appreciate it a lot.

With how much the internet grew, the use of smart phones, social media etc. it is difficult to fit the Sabbat in without heavily altering its nature. The inquisition heavily crippled both cam and anarchs - sending sabbat off to the Jyhad is a more elegant solution than all of a sudden imbuing them with some sort of subterfuge to avoid surveillance.

Plus as I've said I really like the new hunger/humanity/touchstone systems. Allows some sort of mechanical framework to flesh out the characters.

I wouldn't say Anarchs are far more powerful now. Rather, Camarilla has been fucked in all holes. This edition is geared towards independent characters - personal stories rather than factional feuds.

It varies from clan to clan. Tremere are extremaly picky about whom they choose - they have to make sure the candidate fits the Pyramid structure. Ventrue are too, but to lesser extent. Gangrel, Malks, Brujah and and occasional Torries embrace rules are pretty lax. Still, there are rules within Camarila - you can't just embrace a childe on a whim, you have to have the permission from the Prince. So there is an application process involved. Unless you are Sabbat or some brainlet Anarch.
Unless V5 retconned that away as well.

Specifically, I had the idea for a Tremere who did something incredibly horrible in the past, and has now been rendered insane. Yes, but the power level, or possible amount of power the vampire can have is based on his generation, gen 1 creates gen 2, who creates gen 3, etc, the farthest you are from Caine, the weak you are.
Then you have thinbloods, extremely weak vampires, almost human, they can't embrace humans, they are clanless, but, they can learn botched versions of other disciplines, and there is the catiff, basically random people embraced by some random vampire, but never introduced to the world of darkness, they don't know their clan, or what they are.
