Nah, everyone has infinite storage and super fast infinite internet right? RIGHT?

Too large for blu rays, that's for sure
Companies are banking on fiber internet eventually happening. Though they should want to save bandwidth just as much.

just fucking buy a 4tb 7200rpm hdd, they only cost $100. also, stay clear from the epic games store client, since if you ever reinstall your os or change hdd labels or move your game installs, egs will make you delete those still existing game installs and make you download them again.

I feel like a very large amount of games don't really suffer from being on an HDD.

SSD for OS and games that actually NEED it and a very large HDD for everything else is the way.

it's due to wide SSD adoption where speed performance far outweights the data capacity and nobody bothers to install separate disk for data because dude just stream lmao

I say give people the options to download only the parts they want, how many times do you see people saying "campaign is just the tutorial" and only buy the game for the multiplayer, we're already given the option of which part we want to focus on downloading first on playstation, why not just go a step further?

Why not let us save the filespace and only download the part we actually want?

yes
>dude 4k/8k textures that 1% of the consumer base is ever going to see lmao
>dude uncompressed audio lmao
>dude audio for other languages we cant be bothered to cut out for [Country]'s release lmao
i hope to god we hit some real hard limitations soon so this shit will stop

Attached: 1529771464381.jpg (640x640, 85K)

yes? mass storage costs less on spinning platters. run your os and your most favorite games on ssd, run everything else from hdds unless you have a huge income. 7200rpm hdds aren't that slow either for games. nearly no game suffers from being on a 7200rpm hdd vs an hdd. in most cases loading times will stay about the same if not only have a few seconds at best difference, some exceptions are like gta v, which is very rough to load up but i haven't found any other games from my 5tb games collection that was the same.

>tfw don't care for the size but there's not a single game over like 70GB that you want to play
coincidence?

It's sad how repacks provide a better service letting you pick language packs or textures to cut from the install.

Blake those uncompressed pre rendered cutscenes and textures.

On a related note, I find it sad PC still need installers too (I could understand basic setting up, but it's essentially copying every files)

PS4 for instance, if you download a game from PSN you don't need to install it (it's already usable in the state you downloaded it in). AND it's also playable even if you didn't finish downloading it (letting you play the first level / tutorial and the like).

Could all be improved a fair deal by letting you select things, play while you download, etc...

Just got a 1TB SSD.

I'm pretty happy fitgirl repacks exist as even heckin massive games like shadow of war go from 100 GB download to 30gb

a lot of pc games don't need installers. sometimes that may be the case to install other things like a specific directx or library. if you already have those, the game can just run without an installer, especially if you use launchers., these will even automatically check if you have them and download and install them if necessary in the background if you're talking about those wizards, that's because windows has a shitty way to handle binaries, having to extract them to a specific location, set up shortcuts, etc instead of having it all neatly in one package and the os being decent enough to detect that and put up shortcuts that way. nonetheless, steam's big picture mode is pretty much a console experience on a pc, don't need special i stallers or anything. pc also can play only partially downloaded games, see battle.net launcher, origin launcher, etc. personally i don't care for that and i see it phasing out with game streaming soon, you'll be able to play the full game while it's downloading or installing from a disc, just streamed and when it's done doing its thing you'll be able to seemlessly shift from streaming to your local install, including your save files, on pc or console.

tl;dr: pc already has the shit you're talking about.

Yes, that's why streaming is the future. Get used to the idea.

I actually drove to a store to buy a physical game because I knew my internet wasn't going to be able to handle shit. It came with 4GB and a prompt to download the remaining 20 from the internet anyway.

i have a 512gb ssd and 75 mb download speed so when i want to play a game ill just delete something else how about stop being a american with shit internet

get shot

>install a 60gb game
>game immediately requires a 40gb update
>every time I go to play the game there's another 5-15gb update but nothing new ever seems to appear in the game
This is ridiculous and needs to stop.

What did you expect, especially if it was on PC. Considering blu-ray isn't widespread on PC, it's not a viable format to sell your games on (heck, many can't even read DVDs unless they bought a pre-built, it's something people skip on). And multi-dvd (as cheap as it may be), still gets costly and most would rather avoid it.

And there's no one to force a proper standard on PC that would force devs to go with it (like usb read-only flash storage, aka carts).

Blame Valve drones for normalizing digital distribution

prepare fo the mcc, pc bros! that'll be 150gb!

For you? Nothing, go have fun user!

it's jewish invention because the internet speed is becoming faster and faster

if you can download something in 5-10 minutes, no matter who large it is... it becomes...problematic.

I wanna try gears 4 too user but Jesus Christ my download limit

How big was Pokemon red

That would take me nearly a month to download.
Being Australian is great.

I remember the star wars MMO used to be like that back when I played it.

I’m Aussie too user, it would take an hour at most

Don't exaggerate, it would only take a fortnight.

I download exactly 249GB every months for years now and one is full and the other one is half-full

mostly my backlog of shows, anime, and pirated games (I do delete after I'm done to make space)

Maybe it time to either delete some shit or rent a server

A large amount of sprites is going to take up more space than a mesh.

but ultimately neither need that much

it's just more uncompressed audio being the culprit as usual

>I download exactly 249GB every months for years now
yes but 249 GB of what?

>couldn't even read the second line
or are you expecting me to list the titles of over 12TB of content

Yes,
My network gets 23 mbps max and my wifi card does 10 high but 6 constant.
This means it takes way to.long to install games I won't spend that much time on
I honesty just skip games with high file sizes since it would take days to download one game.

t. guy who has literally never heard of textures, somehow

Play 1 game while 1 downloads rofl

there isn't 12TB of anime and shows in the world

That's like one season from coalgirls

i don't download games anymore if they're bigger than 20 GB

EB Games and BestBuy already did that by not selling any PC games besides the Wow battlechest at any point later than 2007.

decompress at runtime.

>just buy second case for all those hard drives, what are you, poor?

When I was 7, I had to delete current game to install new one since I had no space on hdd. Now, with ssd and four 1tb drives, I have to do the same. What the fuck is happening?

In b4 - 15 Yea Forums folders 30gb each does take some space, just as my raw files from camera.

Yes and it's only because devs have no idea how to compress anything in their games

>15 Yea Forums folders 30gb each does take some space
less than a tenth of your four 1tb drives you stupid faggot

I have other stuff you braindead, not only games and memes. I didn't bought those drives only to replace them with bigger ones because some retards can't into optimization.

How do we stop audio?

Attached: .jpg (890x377, 103K)

>becoming
Almost 10 years ago user.

It also doesn't help that the CPUs on the current consoles are so weak they can't even decompress basic bitch codecs like MP3 or ADPCM without narrowing the already thin bottleneck.

50-80GB is considered normal and not a big deal now

130GB games is not "new" but is certainly becoming more widespread

which is funny given they have hardware decoders for media playback that is essentially unused during games

petabyte drives when?

No. The internet speed will always increase. I almost lost my fucking mind yesterday after installing RDR2 from a blu-ray on my ps4 yesterday. It took like an hour. I would have downloaded it twice over on my pc.

Hearing the difference now isn't the reason to encode to FLAC. FLAC uses lossless compression, while MP3 is 'lossy'.

What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA - it's about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.

I started collecting MP3s in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 320kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange...well don't get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren't stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you'll be glad you did.

> 4tb 7200rpm hdd, they only cost $100

why make shit up?

A drive like this will cost closer to double that price.

7200 rpm is plenty fast for playing a game.

assuming you have a lot of ram for caching at least

large games often have fatter assets that you can cache in 16GB and you'll be plagued with longass loading screen when switching between areas (fine for open world travels that stream data as you move, but not so much with fast travel)

Lmayo using hdds :D u can get 1tb ssd for 120dollars cmon :D hdd cant even take 10mbs download speeds without slowing down

>Could all be improved a fair deal by letting you select things, play while you download, etc...
lots of games let you play while you download

the entire point of digital data is that it can be cheaply and perfectly copied
>it totally gets worse over time by magic

1TB is literally nothing tho?

it's far far far from being a standard, and there's very little effort going in that sense

That's his point dumbass, hes a poorfag and he deals fine.

are you replying to that old pasta seriously or merely pretending?

>hes a poorfag
>75MB download speed

Well i don't really have 10+ 2019 games installed ever. Also u can use windows compress to decrease size without noticeable performance loss

>1 tb

simply not enough storage. it only makes sense to have 1 sdd with windows and some games you play most then, a larger drive for games.

on slower drives compression can ironically be a performance gain, decompressing is faster than just reading more data

that aside, that kind of generic compression is often ill suited for the things that use up the most space (like uncompressed audio, it does work fine for executables/script/events/text but they don't hold the most data), you end up with extra cpu and power usage to decompress something that got reduced in size only 0.1%

The best games I'm playing are 16GB at best, there's no excuse for 100GB games. If someone wants to go for the 4K meme that's one thing but that should be a separate download, no fucking reason to punish 99% people who didn't fall for the 4K meme

i bought a 512 gb ssd because i knew it wouldnt last long with all the data i write its already on 96% life left ive written almost 20 tb despite owning it a couple months ill just order another when it hits 20 percent

if im a poor fag whats your specs niggers

see
A 512GB SSD is like 60 bucks, why would you brag about that?

Installers are mostly just driver checks half the time, Sometimes also for decompression if the devs give a shit about making their gigahuge files more manageable to download.

a sprite is basically a unique texture for every single frame of every single animation

its a samsung evo pro m2 also list your specs

Personally I won't download a game over 20gb. If they are I just ignore them, 99% chance it wasn't worth playing in the first place because you know if the developers added 50gb worth of cutscenes or couldn't even bother doing some basic compression or added , they couldn't even be bothered making a good game in the first place

i have porn only 4Tb+ , you are not even trying

>mfw in reasonable optic fiber Georgia
>get internet speeds of 6 Mbps
>see people constantly bitching about speeds that are either double or even triple my speed

>wtf why are people bitching about this restaurant? as a starving african child, I would eat anything and lovei t!

its just I find it hilarious that if i wanted to upgrade, the max i'd get is the amount people typically bitch about unless i get a business connection which goes up to a gibabyte per second which is actually optic fiber.

also I dont love it, i wish optic fiber was the norm, we already have it but the ISPs just dont want to spend more money on upgrading their tech to be fiber optic only.

>12.5MB
>QLC SATA
kek

Only poorfags think this is an issue

How are they poorfags if they already bought the game?

who says theyre buying the games

It's on purpose to discourage pirating. Large files are more difficult to share, and they know that very well. Plenty of people may download a 100GB game but how many can be arsed to seed that to a >1 ratio? Very few, and that's only made worse by the fact asymmetric connections are still a thing.

>tfw live in one of the highest income municipalities in my country
>even the damn royal family lives here
>still have to limit every download to 300kb/s to avoid my internet dying
Living on an island can be hard sometimes, even if it is maximum comfy.

>200X
>256GB Hard Drive
>all games are 8GB
>can download 32 game
>201X
>3TB Hard Drive
>all games are 100GB
>30 games
So storage space hasn't necessarily gotten to be a better or worse issue, even though large game sizes are indicative of retarded devs. It mostly boils down to whether your download speed is shite. To this end, game devs should really find a way to implement repacks, because there's definitely a lot of people out in the boonies that would prefer to download a 10GB repack in 3hrs and unpacking in 1 than having to download a 25GB game in 9 hours.

shame the 100GB game is repacked into 30GB and then available on a million direct download services on top of torrent that really doesn't need anyone else seeding because of the one autist with a fat pipe from russia and a 50TB raid array keeping every torrents alive

They really failed with that idea considering the fact that it's easier to pirate a game than downloading it off something like steam due to re-packs and competently made networking features.

150Mb/s speed in my area costs $15

I live in a country with fast internet, when I pirate porn I don't bother with packs bellow 100G.

I live on a tiny island in Canada with a small population and I have 250MB/s fiber. Costs $60 bucks a month. Must be awful living in the UK.

How come video game developers are so bad at compressing videos and shit like that?

>download a 3 hour long movie in 1080p
>not great quality, but more than serviceable
>2-3gb

>download Metal Gear Rising
>every cutscene looks like some fucking 420p camrip downloaded from Dailymotion
>20gb

Sweden actually. Last time I did a SpeedTest I think it said I had worse internet speeds than like 95% of the population.

Where I live the only option is sub 10mpbs and even then it isnt very stable
>j-just move!
To where you idiot? Fucking Seattle? No thanks. I would rather not have to live in my van due to rent being fucking absurd and unregulated in cities.

Uncompressed audio, 4K textures nobody uses, raw video...
Shit's busted.
Tekken 7 is 60GB purely because of the Gallery and Story Mode, and nobody is gonna play that. You can literally delete the Story Mode videos and whatnot, get the game down to 49 GB. Then finally use CompressGUI to step that down to 26.9 GB.
It's fucking baffling how CompressGUI isn't shilled on this site, which leads me to believe that shills only advertise shit that's useless.

Well for one thing it needs Windows 10, so you'd only be replacing one retarded headache with another.

Have Yea Forums never heard of compactgui?

>make shit up

Nope. Fucking never, apparently.

How does that help download sizes?

Maybe if the game has an uncompressed image for each frame rather than a sprite sheet, sure.

>lives on countryside
>300kbps download
>2~3 days to download regular sized game

I'm fucked next gen

Download sizes? Not a chance.
On-disk sizes? There's some games and programs that go from shit like 80 GB all the way down to 2 GB. Shit's insane.

Attached: 7AZkxqE.jpg (118x216, 4K)

>7200 rpm is plenty fast for playing a game.

I can't believe people still think rotation speed is the most important thing in a HDD, I have two Sata3 drives, 7200rpm and 5400rpm, guess which one is faster

5400RPM, right? You don't have some sort of m.2 enhancer, right?

>tfw physical copy meant literally nothing and it's taking up a quarter of my PS4's hard drive
>tfw the game is a chore to get through and I can only play it in short bursts
I'm about ready to drop the game so I can free up some fucking space.

For me the actual size have never been a real issue, I don't need 40 games installed on my computer. It's the actual downloading and installation that's a nightmare.

>201X
>cutscenes that use in-game graphics are pre-rendered
Why would you do that?

RDR2 btw

>dont mind downloads
>have a datacap

Thanks jewcast

My mobo is old as fuck it doesn't have a m2 slot.

Only thing I can reccomend is Repacks. try FitGirl, R.G. Mechanics, and others. Most of them are russians, but FitGirl manages to get shit like 60 GB down to selective downloads so that it's literally 13 GB of downloading.
The fuck? If it's old enough to not have that, then it's surely old enough to not support a good CPU these days... Right?

except if you had enough storage you could just keep them all installed and wouldn't have a problem with the downloading and installation ever again
so the size is still the core issue

I'm a third-world poorfag with only 128gb SSD and 1tb HDD
but at least i get 350mbit/s for like $10

Attached: 1563541919363.png (633x758, 233K)

Nigga with a 240mb connection you can literally download a 100gb game in 2 hours or less.

When did this Datacap shit start? Is it even fucking legal? Why is it a thing? Why does America suck such a fat black cock?

Because games are primarily made for consoles and the in-game low graphics settings that barely manage 30fps sucks.

A good litmus test of whether something is worth buying is the footprint. You see 30, 40... 50+ gb installed footprint? The devs are lazy fucks that can't be bothered with things like language specific installations. Absolutely nothing being released today with those kind of sizes are worth playing, or worth the storage space-- even if the storage space was free.

Why wouldn't it be fucking legal? Are you a commie?

Comcast implemented it maybe 3 or 4 years ago now, they were always datacapping certain people before that. Then they just said "everyone gets it". Idk when other ISPs did the same, I do know they do have caps tho. Unless you pay premium.

Is it legal? Unfortunately it is. It doesn't e even cost a lost to remove the caps, they just want to nickle and dime you.

America isn't about black cock, but Jewish ones.

>Only thing I can reccomend is Repacks
It's my goto. That said they have always been some of the most unreliable and frustrating things I've ever reverenced to the point where these days I almost prefer spending an extra 3-4 days just downloading something in the background to save myself having to spend like 5 hours not being able to do anything on my computer at all, being forced to run the installer over and over again for the 5th time hoping that this time it actually works.

My maximum download speed is 800kb/s, but by that point I can't actually use my internet for anything so I throttle everything to 400kb/s.

This wouldn't be a fucking issue if developers were competent and compressed shit appropriately.

Naw, just don't live in a country with shitty internet.

I'm a fucking European and this shit ain't legal.
Jesus christ... I don't have words for this.
FitGirl does have a RAM limit option. You must probably have under 8 GB of RAM tho, and that's a huge issue. Upgrade your RAM but still limit the installers. I guarantee it'll work even when you're doing other shit.

>people complaining about data caps

I guess capitalism is ok unless it hurt your feelings.

>Why yes, I voted Reagan, how could you tell?

I had a datacap all the way back in early 2000 after moving to broadband from dialup. Although early on they didn't care and just let me go over without doing anything about it, until they didn't anyway

In like 2002 I got their new unlimited services and I was downloading about 300GB/month and they called me saying it was excessive. A year later the unlimited plan was removed entirely.

Today I live on with a 250GB/month quota, I could remove it but it means +25$/month which I'll pass on. I'm in Canada and it's the least worst option in my region (not all ISPs in Canada are like this).

Attached: 1546218266381.png (511x490, 327K)

>no European ISPs have data caps

Vodafone doesn't. Atleast to my knowledge.

not yet anyway but data caps are the future, soon every ISP in every country will have data caps and there's nothing you can do about it, blame Netflix

My parents are on a Vodafone contract with 30GB/month

I don't think there is a single ISP that has them in my country, only for shit like mobile data.

A lot of European countries have a thing where every ISP are forced to share cables, no matter what company lays them out, so they kinda know that a huge amount of people would just switch to another ISP that didn't have data caps if they ever implemented them.

We have the 1Gbps package, and me and my dad torrent a lot and we never were limit. And I think this is the reason ...

Storagelets, when will they learn?

250GB SSD for OS, games, common programs
120GB SSD for more games
750GB HDD for projects, programs, games I don't care that much about
1TB HDD I just installed that was laying around and is now being used for more games
1.5TB external HDD for long term storage
250GB external HDD for jailbroken PS3 games
1TB external HDD attached to router as a file server

>120gb for more games
That's a single fucking game if you play ArmA 3 or anything with a workshop support
Like fucking really nigger, 120gb, my pendrive is the size of that.

>A lot of European countries have a thing where every ISP are forced to share cables, no matter what company lays them out, so they kinda know that a huge amount of people would just switch to another ISP that didn't have data caps if they ever implemented them.

That's easy to solve, all they need is to have a meeting between themselves and decide they will all implement data caps at the same time so the customers won't have a choice but to oblige. It happened in my country.

The really big ISP's might, but nothing is stopping the smaller ISP's from basically quadrupling their profits overnight by not doing it since they already have the infrastructure of the big ISPs.

>dude 4k/8k textures that 1% of the consumer base is ever going to see lmao
>dude uncompressed audio lmao
These are all wins. Just because most people dont have the setup for it shouldnt mean that people who do cant enjoy it.

what it means is that it should be a separate pack/option for those that need it

>base game is already like 80GB
>the 4K textures aren't included and the extra download is 25GB
>it also make every loading screens significantly longer

No, it would make the download even more bloated, fuck off

What, why would it. All you're doing is getting things only if you need it.

If the option is removed, ultimately everyone has to download the most bloated version.

15 dollars for gigabit internet what isp

and if that's what you're thinking, they would still include both versions of the assets

it's gonna be probably like 2 decades before they stop catering to lower end hardware, so it's needed

came here for this deluded comment based off nothing because the person has never worked on a game in their entire lives.

..well with options you could technically omit getting the lower end textures as well. It's all about being given those choices

downloading and installing gigantic file sizes is still faster than installing off CDs, besides we'll all be streaming games in 10 years anyways

>13.2 MBs

God I wish that were me.

That's a lot of porn

Shame usb flash storage never picked up as a medium for games on PC. With usb3 there wouldn't be a point in installing really.

read-only flash isn't overly expensive and entirely viable, but devs will still avoid extra costs if they can (unless being forced to by a standard, like on consoles with carts)

Blu-ray won't be an option due to how few people even have blu-ray drives in their PC. And games coming on 10+ DVDs is ridiculous.

This would be the case if those 4k textures weren't used for shit like snowflakes and dust particles and things where shit like that wouldn't even remotely better.

*wouldn't even remotely matter, fuck

read-only flash isn't expensive for consumers but when you start doing millions of copies then it adds up compared to discs.

Games have no business being anything over 20 GB.

Attached: 1352559207.jpg (540x540, 26K)

Yes, I wasn't pretending otherwise. Not that this means it's impossible (consoles basically do that with carts). But there would need to be some standards in place to motivate devs to go through with it, but that kind of thing only happens on console.

why the fuck don't they just compress the sound files?

Starting from around 2000, "AAA" games started averaging between 800 MB to 1.5 MB
then it shifted to 2.5 to 5 GB
then it got up to around 8-12 GB.
Then it was around 20-30 GBs.
Now its seems to be 50-100 GB

>It's on purpose to discourage pirating
>what is repacks
yeah that 70gb install that becomes 30gb install with a 12gb torrent is totally gonna discourage pirating.

no, it's the exact opposite. I pirate now more than ever because repacks are legitimately just better in literally every way.

When the fuck will idiots like you realize FLAC and 128kbps are the same exact thing?

>gigabit internet
>pic is the hard drive I download to

Imagine being a spacelet

Attached: fuckspacelets.png (761x207, 17K)

Consoles have shit cpus leading them to try to free resources as much as possible. And they just don't care to change what already works when porting it to PC.

Games also tend to have audio that comes in multiple formats to fit various outputs/setups and isn't just basic cd quality stereo music

Lossless audio.

>Naming your hard drives
Dilate, have sex, seething, fuck you

cringe

This. Especially when THIS game is only 96 kb.
youtube.com/watch?v=iCSXAtJRC9A

Sometimes after a hard reboot they get mixed up so the name are to remember which drive letter is which
But you would know that if you went poor

I don't know this because I use linux and UUIDs to identify drives and nothing ever gets mixed up even if I swap the drives around.

I actually have a 8tb SSD in my desk for storing porn dumps on, but yeah, I'm jealous.
Crazy how much shit you can fit on these things

That game must be compressed to shit but still impressive.
Wish AAA publishers and devs would discover good low poly art and cut the size of their games down.

Call of duty games being over 80 GB is just stupid.

Attached: 1553628593789.jpg (800x600, 72K)

Rather than compression it's more like it generate its data based on algorythms

you could think like procedural generation except it's not random

Not even Yea Forums can hear the difference between a flac and a wav, also normalfags listen to ogg on Spotify and other music streaming apps, no one gives a fuck.

>370GB total SSD storage for games
Considering how big most recent multiplayer games are, that’s only like 6-7 games on the damn thing

>flac and a wav
there's literally no difference between these two upon playback so I'd be worried if they were able to find one

Prove him wrong then, you won't you bitch ass pre rendered cutscenes shit dev.

Exactly, so why use uncompressed audio?

flac and wav are both uncompressed

To minimize CPU usage.

Oh and to maximize compatibility. Some systems may not support the codecs.

>tfw american
>tfw even if we finally got speeds the rest of the world has we'll still get fucked up the ass with data caps

Attached: 1560676800297.jpg (680x680, 43K)

CPU usage, mostly a problem on consoles. Moreso of a problem with high quality format/outputs that tend to get used with video games (it's not cd quality stereo audio).

When it comes to PC version, it's a case of not bothering to change what works. Some people do go cheap on the cpu anyway. Normally you'll want a dedicated thread for audio not to impact the rest of the game. No telling what other things people are using the cpu for at same time too, but I'd argue reading large audio files from a slow drive that may be already-in-use is a bigger issue.

>buying seagate
LOL enjoy losing your shit

>besides we'll all be streaming games in 10 years anyways
Unless light gets even faster, no we won't.

going good for over half a year now. also have a bunch of wd drives that have worked for over 4 years.

Bluray rips my man. Turn A Gundam alone is like 70GB.

wrong

I think you misunderstand what the guy you responding to is saying. That shit is currently included with every download; he's suggesting it should be in a separate pack you download so that the base game won't have as large of a file size for people who don't want the textures

I had 2 seagate drives dying in less than 2 years. Never buying their shit again. Meanwhile i have a fucking samsung from 2008 still working just fine + 2 wd blue and 1 toshiba.

we'll see i guess. i make backups anyways

>250 + 100gb of updates for a game who is less than 8 hours long
>Games from the GameCube/Xbox/PS2 era are around 1-4gb and are 10-30 hours long
>Having a backup of all the retro games would take like 200gb

Why do people defend this?

Attached: 1546984806907.jpg (827x960, 40K)

When you move here you wanna hang out :3

>fucking years ago
>complain that games are being made poorly optimized
>"why the hell should I have to download 10GBs of shit? I've seen way bigger games take up half that space"
>"why does this game chug along when the graphics look worse than Far Cry?"
>"LOL STOP BEING POOR, JUST GET BIGGER HDD AND FASTER INTERNET"
>"LOL STOP BEING POOR, JUST GET A $1000 VIDEOCARD"
>today
>most games look about on par with shit 10 years ago
>still requires 4GBs of VRAM or more, better have a $700 videocard or enjoy your 20FPS on lowest settings
>games devote dozens of GBs for textures the player sees for about 5 seconds while walking by
>the games STILL have less content than shit a decade ago

>steam comes out
>why the hell would I want a program constantly running in the background eating up RAM and CPU time?
>the fuck, you don't even get a physical copy you can resell down the line?
>"LOL STOP LIVING IN THE PAST, CHEAP GAMES DUDE!!!
>"LOL WHO CARES!"
>today
>people finally figured out they are getting screwed by buying a digital copy of a game
>people finally figured out they have less rights when they don't own a physical copy
>people finally figured out they can have all their digital games taken from them with no say in the matter

I get tired of seeing this shit coming and watching every retard defend it until it bites them on the ass and they finally figure it out.

>hurr u gotta know all duh Yea Forums memes like i do hurr durr
Kill yourself faggot not everyone spent a month learning all the hip memes before posting here. Nigger.

No.
A 500GB is $60, the 512GB ones are the more expensive Pro versions.

Don't group the shitty EVO with the PRO.

t. 26TB user.

>2002
>waiting a whole day to download a 250mb patch for battlefield 1942

>downloading an entire 50gb game in about an hour or less
yeah this is so awful

it's literally using made up words that makes no sense, you don't need to be a meme historian for that

any HDD is still fast enough for most games, with some exceptions like open world games that let you go fast or multiplayer games where load times can dick you over

these days you download 3 games in America and you're already over the limit cap.

Attached: 454555.jpg (600x450, 29K)

Oh well SORRY that I don't know everything about data or some other nerdshit. Christ you're annoying.

tfw 250gb monthly limit

I liked how monster hunter world had their ultra textures as a n optional download. More games should do this.

>monthly limits
I suddenly feel very sorry for you amerimutts

Attached: 1525276288662.png (236x206, 78K)

this both happen and doesn't happen literally anywhere

you just need to be in the wrong region of a country to be left to deal with it, while everyone else in your country doesn't have it

I'm american and I don't have data caps with my provider. It depends on what region you're in. In a backwoods place you usually only have one option for internet and they'll jew the living fuck out of you for a shitty 10mb/s 500GB cap plan. In my area I can get a gigabit plan with no cap for like $60 a month.
