If the Wald player is expecting you to try mashing out of a reset attempt after 4B are they more likely to just continue the combo or go for something else that beats the mashing?

People expecting the combo to continue will just sit there. I've scummed a bit with the B command to know a couple tricks

Wald's got a few options
4B 214A(A clap) into reset 360B will CH a lot of mashing and become a real command grab
4B 236B(overhead swipe) is not real at all and can be mashed
He can also try to frame trap with 214[B] which leads to hella damage
Or he can just finish the combo

Note that the first option will also blow up shields so trying to shield the reset is risky

Linne, and nah I'm still learning alot about what this game has to offer.

Learning some basic stuff from other characters has given me alot of perspective about how combo routes work and it's quite fun to learn all different character nuances.

Fleshing out learning to play the game with Linne I believe definitely helped me to get through some mission mode stuff and a few online combo guides on all these other characters on a basic level.

I much prefer playing in person than online due to that no lag experience.

This was the first fighting game I took seriously as a casual masher and now I can put up a good fight with most people in these lobbies and if you stick with it I know you can too.

Here's a well documented guide that won't take you too long to read through since apparently Akatsuki's Mission Mode combos are actually quite useful for regular play according to the guide for starting out.

Something that really helped me was learning the keyframes for characters. For example, you know how Akatsuki charges up his karate chop and it glows for like almost a second when he does his 6B? Remember that pose. If he gets you in a block string, just keep holding downback and you'll be safe. That way all you'll really have to do is pay attention to overheads and grabs. If you see that keyframe of him about to chop you or you see him assault jump, block and you'll be able to punish it no problem.
It all comes down to paying attention and acting accordingly

Getting close to winning and dropping feels more frustrating than getting perfected sometimes.

There's a ton of resources and the in-game tutorial is really good just like what said. However, if you feel overwhelmed with the tutorials or get tired of them, there's no shame in hopping online and coming back to it. Reading up on info is great but you also should practice playing actual matches
