I like the swordplay I honestly miss it but hey everyone besides me hates motion controls so what can you do

ALttP, OoT, MM, and WW all have a shared style which goes beyond explanation (like most artistic styles).
TP breaks away from it a little, but not drastically.
SS, however, is pretty much unrecognizable as a Zelda game.

user, those games had drastically different styles and themes. And even if they didn't, you didn't take into account the dozen or so other games like Minish Cap, Adventure of Link, BoTW, the Oracle games, etc.

I don't mind motion controls as long as they don't detract to the gameplay. The motion controls in this just made every fight "SPINNING DEFENSE! Aim at the weak point from the correct side!". It was fucking boring. Hell, the Nintendoland Zelda minigame did it better.

All those games execpt MM have extremely similar gameplay. SS was a really weird zelda game in how it played.

They had drastically different styles and themes, but they had overarching elements that made them feel like "Zelda".
SS doesn't have those elements.
And I don't usually account for the handhelds because most of them aren't very good, and AoL was the second Zelda game, before the series really developed its own feel.

And I don't think BotW feels very Zelda-ish either, for the record.

Well Skyward Sword and BoTW were both deliberate attempts to break away from the "Zelda Formula". Even Nintendo noticed they were doing the effectively the same thing repeatedly. You can't do the same thing forever.

There's a difference between formula and style.
SS is extremely formulaic. The structure is bare-bones Zelda dungeon structure.
But the STYLE isn't Zelda at all. Zelda games tend to have a particular feel to them that SS doesn't have.

This is blatantly false. While the Wii Motion Plus did include gyroscopes what was important about it was that the angular rate sensor that came with the secondary gyoroscope enabled the Wii remote to distinguish linear motion, it didn't just use IR, and the optical sensors weren't used for the actual motion controls
