it's basically just an idea that's been throwing itself around in my head for a few years now, so "making" is a bit loose of a term. It's like Mother meets SMT with a tiny bit of OG Pokemon. I've been doing the sprite art and music for it but I've never really gotten around to starting. I've posted about it here before, so I expect I'll probably get a few responses calling me a faggot.

As for when to expect it, I honestly have no idea, so I guess I was a bit misleading. I'm off to college in a few weeks to study computer science, and I'm going to try and use my newfound knowledge to get my arse to work.

They never got anything. It was around the time stuff like Pokemon Uranium and whatever the Metroid fangame was called were being taken down, so it was a preventative measure.

haha, thanks. although it was really more "i can't into pixel art so here's my best attempt" than any conscious artstyle choice.

The fact that it's not mother 4 anymore is a big blow, I wish they would at least design it with it still in mind and have an "unofficial mod" to restore the references etc. Too much is lost otherwise.

If this were a Shin Megami Tensei collection style game, I'd be super into this. If you can make a appealing story and gameplay, you could really make something cool.

well basically you're an out-of-practive detective and you get sucked into your first case in 10 years, which turns into a dimension-hopping quest to save your world from the looming threat of monsters. think persona 4, except much grittier and the "small town" is a total shithole. but like, a quirky shithole.

The bosses are too simplistic, they need to be bigger or more menacing looking. Otherwise, they just look like regular enemies.

that's a very good point. I made most of these sprites back like 3 or so years ago when I was still in 11th grade, so they're kinda shit. I'm probably gonna update most of em by the time I'm actually making the game.

It was around 2015 for me, it was the gameplay trailer that really got me hyped for the game. But I couldn't really share my hype since nobody around me knew who Ness and Lucas were outside of Smash.

As someone who has been a fan of the project for its entirety, theres no point in making threads about it. This has been their dev style for years. Slow and steady. The engine and story is already finished.

Bad attention is exactly what lead some people to purchase YIIK just because of "Hohohoho how horrible this game is! Wouldn't be funny if we played it and live streamed it in order to show how horrible it is?" It ironically became infamous due to bad reputation, thus bringing it into the public eye and making some people buy it. If it hadn't gotten any attention whatsoever it wouldn't even have sold ten copies.

Eh, if they're still planning to release the thing for free I see no reason not to still follow the project. I'm just shocked they could even keep a staff together to make what is effectively a fully independent title in the current year.
