I wish they had put off his ending like that for a while
I didn't mind how they ended it, they should've just let him stay for a few more patches and THEN let what happened happen.
Without the meddling of Ascians, Haurchefant would still be alive. Fuck Emet-Selch. Surface level understandable villain until you realize he planned on straight up sacrificing everything you ever loved. He should've died when your people cause your start to explode.
I like it the way it is, his briefness makes him all the better I think. When you drag out a villain either they aren't doing anything which makes them seem useless or they are being defeated over and over, which makes them incompetent. It's really hard to make an interesting dangerous villain who stays around a long time.
>hangs out with the party, cracks jokes, and even helps you out once in a while
>legitimately a likeable guy with a tragic backstory you can sympathize with
>have to kill him
>brings back Y'shtola to life with no ulterior motives
>no one truly thanks him
>Y'shtola thanks him but only out of obligation
>no one tells him they are leaving the area, despite him helping you just because she was your friend
I guess that's true too. idk, I really liked him and just wish he was around for longer.
Seventh Umbral Era...we are forgotten...
I only have this image saved of him and never played XIV. Who is this?
>No one even tries to offer helping him find another way to bring his people back
Who were the real monsters?
>until you realize
But we knew what the floods of Light/Darkness do to shards literally more than one expansion before Emet-Selch was introduced (the lil shit from the Warring Triad questline in HW is from The Thirteenth)
Ilberd of the Sloppy Blade, he's the best of bros with you.
they're probably tempered by hydalyn to dislike him no matter what he does
just as he is probably tempered to bring zodiark back no matter what
even if there was another ,way tempering wouldnt let them change course
>Constantly says he is going to kill all of you because he feels like it
>Then tries to do just that
>HURR DID NOTHING WRONG
Yeah eat shit and die. He was a fun character but he was more or less just another generic anime villain.
He wants as many people as possible alive who know the real story behind mommy crystal being a primal. He did his job to plant the seeds of doubt in everyones minds.
>because he feels like it
>feels like it
based retard
hes trying to bring back THE ENTIRETY OF HIS RACE that was unjustly massacred by a coward summoning Hydaelin (literally the person you're a shard of)
This. Emet was perfectly placed and left a lasting impact despite being in there for only a couple early patches and one expansion.
Compare him to the total fucking joke that is pic related.
You don't understand. He came at me with a katana.
>guys let's just keep sacrificing half of our population until Zodiark might have enough power to fix everything for us, what could go wrong
I meant that after they were done with their calamities they would come back and kill everyone else on the Source to bring his people back.
WELL IF IT ISNT SAUCY JACK
>all those lesser Ascians and even that reckless Lahabrea are idiots. Useful, but stupid. In time, you too will see that we are not so different, and that we only seek what is best for this star. Perhaps we will join hands then... ke ke ke and toodle-oo
later
>Curses, Hydaelyn's champion grows too powerful! But worry not, Varis, I will cut him down as I would swat a fly! It's the villainous thing to do after all...
later
>Fuck, everyone else is dead but me, all my plans have failed, and I even ran from that retard prince, I will now make a halfassed shortterm plan to kill the Warrior of Light to assert myself as an antagonist
How, how did the writers take ARR Elidibus and arrive at the current point with his character?
>sacrifice half our people to avert this doom, yes? yes.
>the doom is averted but the star is barren, sacrifice half our CURRENT people to populate it with life, yes?
>ofuc.jpg that bitch who left the council convinced people that sacrifices are bad, now half our CURRENT people are gone and they sacrificed themselves to make an antithesis of our god
I mean... you're a retard.
is "elidibus" ascian for jobber?
He literally did do a bunch of things wrong though, the whole game is about him coming to terms with it
They're so rare to actually get in instances so it's nice seeing them in the sea of cats and lizards.
He had a fucking KATANA. What was he supposed to do?
Bros...I'm half way through Stormblood's story...I want to die. This is not as bad as the pre-HW quests but still feel my soul leaving every time I have to help another poor Doman villager...
Stormblood is trash but Shadowbringers is worth it imo.
Stick with it, you're almost to the best part of 4.0 (you'll know it by all the blacked lizards). It only gets better around Heavens Weep and goes back down to a flatline until the last quest.
Tempering? Oh you mean that thing we undid during Coil of Bahamut that nobody thought to out any research to?
Literally the Osama Bin Laden of the game
More like villains that are inequivocably wrong and even proven so in-game but made you feel bad so your emotionally stunted self latched on to them like roaches to flypaper
I really wonder if Emet will have enough meme power to stay that way like Armstrong did though
Emet is actually a good villain outside of the memes though unlike Armstrong
>it's not a rape if the sun is out!
It'll get better when you have to try and negotiate with all the cool kid Xaelachads to do all the fighting for the doman subhumans
The part about rehashing his old plan will never not crack me up.
I honestly don't know what he/the writer was thinking at this point.
honestly, when you look at the absolute peak civilization they had created, I can't really be mad at him for wanting to murder everyone to bring it back
Actually I think they did a surprisingly good job making him an empathetic villain. Having you run around doing daily quests and seeing how nice everyone was in Amaurot was amazing backstory.
Honestly everything regarding Amaurot was an absolute 10/10 in this expansion.
>45 FFXIV threads up
New smash trannies.
>hien is a conquistador assimilating a group of savages using their own backwater practices so they will fight against a technologically superior foe so his people don't have to
war is hell lads and if you stare too long into the abyss make sure you don't also become a monsterer
While people are memeing him because of his antics and the fact that he was just a plain fun character to have around, Emet is actually rather well written and a top notch villain imo.
I mean, you know you have to stop him but you can empathize with what he's doing and you understand his plight. And his death scene was just plain beautiful imo.
I counted, there are three in the entirety of the board.
>Be godly creatures that can create with imagination alone
>Fuck things up massively, almost causing the literal apocalypse
>As a result, fall out of the limelight and become a footnote in history, if that
>New species of beings arise and take their place center stage
>RRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE autistically and seek to undermine and destroy these beings because you think they are nothing compared to your heyday
>Get hailed as anti-heroes on Yea Forums
Ascians are like kids that broke their toy, then some other kid began playing with it and now they want it back. There's nothing redeemable about that.
It's not about "a toy", the entirety of their civilization collapsed. Their friends, colleagues, lovers, fellow citizens, all either died as part of the initial sacrifice to save the world or in the resulting civil war.
Emet-Selch (perhaps all the other ascians too, I do not know all of their perspectives) don't destroy things for the sake of destroying them, but out of love for the utopia that they had.
If he could have brought back his civilization without sacrifice, I'm sure he would have done so, hell, he probably would have enlisted our aid in making it happen.
>sacrifice half of your people to keep the world alive
>sacrifice another half to repopulate it
I wish people didn't look at it in such a black or white way. They're tragic villains with a good motivation, the problem being that the way to reach their goals requires sacrificing pretty much all life.
there's no proof that they had anything to do with The Sound That Came From The Planet and it's not like they could do anything about their powers birthing horrible beasts
Shadowbringers MSQ made me for the first time be sad that XIV is limited to an MMO.
The story is more than good enough to make an entire mainline FF out of it. Hell the combat is pretty decent already, add some bells and whistles and go wild with cinematics. Just imagine the final scene with proper graphics.
Generalissimo Francisco Franco
The problem he couldn't do that.
He needed to kill a shit ton of people to revive zodiark since he was tempered.
One way or the other he needed a sacrifice.
You're completely right, that's why the conflict of the expansion occurred.
But my point is that it wasn't just:
>RRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE autistically and seek to undermine and destroy these beings
as you put it.
I'm pretty sure Emet knew that he couldn't bring back his people anymore and he just said fuck it and committed suicide by WoL since he couldn't kill himself directly.
So you believe he wasn't being genuine? What evidence do you have of this?
His plan wouldn't have succeeded because Elidibus had failed on his end
fucking zenos being the mirror to the WoL rustles my jimmies so hard because he's like the Prozd video of the villain that always does accidentally helpful things
Ysayle IS a GOOD wife! She IS my [beautiful branch]!
fuck off estinien
What!
i cant weave gauss and richochet in between heats, will pingzapper help with this at all or some program along those lines
>Villian actually wins in the end
Never expected that while playing the game.
pingzapper is hit or miss, try the trial out, sometimes your ping will be worse depending on routing
Going back to the katana autist after this great cunt feels like such a step back
Based waifu collector
Weeaboo Arthas was only ever good when he was in that elf body autistically screeching about the hunt. The fact that he reclaimed his body so quickly has me soured.
I miss the Kholusia everlasting light theme
>tfw no scene of Elezenos showing up and picking a fight with the WoL and the group slowly shitting themselves realising its Zenos
somehow, SE managed to make the hooded amaurot dudes the cutest race in the game, cuter than the wew lads and the not-sylphs
god i wish they had ghostly hooded daily quests for me.
>Elezenos doesn't join up with Estinien and Gaius to play the long con
Big missed opportunity.
>Implying you wouldn't shit yourself and run away no matter how ancient or powerful if Zenos Mc Murderhobo looked in your general direction for more than ten seconds while holding a katana. Threateningly.
>no expansion where you journey to take down the empire with Gaius, Estinien and Elezenos
just fuck me up!
More like avoiding absolute shit writing.
He has absolutely nothing in common with Arthas. Arthas was a fallen prince that meant to do well. Zenos never gave a fuck about anything besides satisfying his urges because he was a bioengineered superhuman that either lacked empathy or considered those unlike him to be lesser creatures existing only to be used for his pleasure.
A villain who "does nothing wrong" isn't technically a villain, please stop ruining villains by applying this shitty meme to every villain thanks, you guys are fucking annoying
Best bro did nothing wrong.
How can you avoid shit writing when writing anything other than "Zenos died for real after you killed him"?
they're not the main villain but unironically the aldmeri dominion did nothing wrong
I'll literally never comprehend Branden's fucking stupid ass expression when he was attacking Y'Shtola, especially after playing SHB.
True. I can't see anything good coming from the current plot hook. They killed the other garlean I was interested in.
>beloved by his troops
>keeps the dying plumber industry afloat
>The massive amount of effort behind Odysseys ending
>Always available for fighting a greater threat
>Hottest female mario character
The 14th was right the entire time, and Zodiark was a shit idea. It shows.
What do I win ?
Did Emet really died? He destroyed his crystal container and just got a hole in his belly. Ascians are inmortal and can hop bodies and shit.
We fucking lighted his ass up the same way we did Nabriales. It's permadeath dude.
tfw when emet is kill
No
XD
I'm still a bit confused as to why they were so murder happy and deranged when you fight them during HW, probably just a bit crazy after everything thats happened I guess
what the FUCK is this face supposed to convey
>videla
First time I get unironically completely triggered on this site
Scoffing
>We Acians are older than your entire world and we literally created your species as food for the god we created. We were here before the dragons came from space. We cultivated all civilization and guided it to creating the calamities which will restore our original world. You are so far beneath us your life literally has no value.
We not only created the very concept of Primals but enslaved the entire dragon race with our puppet civilzations but... wait... shit... please don't utilize those two things we professed absolute mastery of to eat Lahabrea! Shit. Who could ever have predicted this? Certainly not us!
Well don't worry, because the first shard is doomed anyway to a calamity of light that will collapse it back into the source and nobody could possibly stop that much light, not even an emissary. Wait, shit, what do you mean the emissary of light offered to go over there and abate the flood of light? How the fuck are we supposed to get things moving again? Who could possibly have forseen this? Certainly not our self professed Emissary master planner who knows everything about light and darkness! Someone wake up Emet Selch from his tube sleep and send him to the first to fix this shit for me, I need to galivant around in the imperial prince's corpse and make cryptic statements!
What? The resonance, that artificial echo thing we had the imperials make, allowed Zenos to come back for his body even though we Ascians are self professed masters of all things echo related? WHO COULD HAVE FORSEEN THIS?
If the person you loved most died but you could revive them if you murdered a complete stranger and were guaranteed to never get caught, would you do it?
>TFW the complete stranger ends up being your loved one that is still against you despite everything you've done
So we're totally the Amaurotian that sat next to us at the DMV, right?
Yes because in the original book, Hythlodaeus would always refer to himself in the third person and Hythlodaeus is the only Ascian shade that had a connection with Emet beforehand and goes on to mention that Emet will surely recognize "him/her" in you (based on your character gender).
Well, if you were in a simulation, where all people there living where are just npc, but they are so realistic that you can't even distinguish from the real deal, would you still kill them?
That's the logic behind Emet
>but they are so realistic that you can't even distinguish from the real dea
That's the thing, to someone like Emet we would basically just be basic NPCs. He tried to give them a chance, many times, but he just couldn't bear living with them.
Imagine spending an eternity with the closest thing to human interaction you'd get being a copy of The Sims, and you'd probably have a decent idea of what Emet-Selch has had to deal with.
I've never understood the entire line of "we are just too many levels of magnitude apart for you to understand me" reasoning from villains like this though. Like, if you're able to communicate information with something directly it is already completely different from dumb animals and npc virtual intelligences.
What just happened with this boi and Cin?
What's in the gigant egg?
The most hilarious part of it all is that his dumb Warrior of Darkness plan is literally the only reason Emet even had the slightest chance of failure in the first place
What happened with his army of clones? Why bring them up if they wont be used?
BUT THE 6 BILLION
That sounds horribly lonely. I feel bad for the guy now.
Hydaelyn didn't kill thr Ancients, the Ancients willingly sacrificed themselves to make the world habitable again.
Then the Ascians concoct a plan to completely shit on said sacrifice.
>Maduro
Get me out of this country. FUCK.
Subscribe to my Patreon so I can feed my family thanks.
is there an imgur for all available GNB and DNC weapons?
Arent SE going to do anything about the lack of weapon choices?
Every time I see his stupid fucking face in this scene I cry, why am I such a fucking pussy. Why did the story have to be so good fuck its not fair.
Don't worry user, it'll get back to being shit again once we've gotta turn around and deal with Zenos being battlehorny again.
The protagonist and everybody they associate with are literally phantom people, with the WoL being 2/14ths of a sentient entity. For all intents and purposes Emet-Selch was one of the few canonically "real" entities within the lore. The only reason why he tolerated your bullshit because he thought you deserved a chance at proving yourself.
Imagine living in a literal paradise, having it fall apart, attempting to stitch it back together and later finding out that NPCs keep fucking with your shit in order to continue """living""". He was completely justified in his actions, and is arguably one of the better villains for not nuking you outright.
His essence was destroyed i think, so the army of clones are just useless corpses now.
thats the second time my superbolide macro crapped out on me. it worked just a second ago in rhalgrs reach, wtf. should i quit gunbreaker forever?
>mfw the door opens behind him and It's scorching fire
>mfw "Amaurot is now accessible"
>mfw the weather is "Termination"
>mfw the area names
>mfw the whole dungeon
Holy shit, I never thought anything could top Ala Mhigo.
only in a might makes right world, which ultimately consigns them to complete obliteration themselves.
once they are defeated, altmer will forever be second class citizens.
Every SHB dungeon easily top ala shitgo, soulless expansion
we will see her again at Eden
He even gave us a chance, he tried to lead the NPC's to greatness through the Allagan Empire. He lived normal, human lives. He grew old with us, sired children with us, died with us. He did everything possible to give us a chance. Sadly we were just too fucking retarded, we'd never sacrifice ourselves like his people. In his eyes, we had to go.
He's right, of course. If the Sound rises up again, how the fuck would current civilisation harmonise to stop it?
The Ascians were fucking delighted Minfilia stopped the Flood, though.
If she hadn't, the First would have been a Light version of the 13th and completely useless to their plans.
Stopping the Flood meant the First could still be rejoined.
Only to get tossed into The Dying Gasp "Warriors from beyond the rift, heed my call!" and the music... Bruh... It was all so perfect, I want to replay it all again for the first time.
so what nuked amourot?
was it some bullshit with their creation magics straining the fabric of reality? was it a single creation gone wrong? was it jenova?
The ancients on another continent heard a "mysterious sound from the earth" and lost control over their creation magic.
Then that idiot Lahabrea brought one of the nightmare creatures (Archaeotonia) to Amaurot for SCIENCE and it escaped.
so the whole world just went to shit because their wifi went down for their creations and 1 actual nightmare beast got loose?
lame.
I fucking remember the "CUTSCENE SKIPPER" calling motherfuckers when I asked if Hydaelyn was a primal, since I don't care about lore, and we're literally only missing primals of light and dark.
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
FFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
You know. There was always tension there between them
You were called a cutscene skipper because there was literally nothing to suggest Hydaelyn was a primal before 5.0. You just wanted her to be a primal because you wanted the twist of her being the villain.
>nothing to suggest Hydaelyn was a primal
As I said
>we're literally only missing primals of light and dark
So no, you guys were just idiots, those elements are in literally every JRPG ever
No, because that complete stranger could have someone that loved them. It's why I don't have the guts to kill someone except in specific scenarios.
That's not how primals work. There's not one assigned to each element. Odin and Mog were dark aligned anyway.
We're looking at it from the NPC side, of course we can't conceive of the higher intellectual concepts in Emet-Selch's brain.
Lakshmi and Sophia are light primal...I think? some of them are not bound to element
Sophia is lightning and wind
>When you realise that this line of thinking passed down to Varis with his pointing out that Eorzea is fragmented as shit and all of humanity should unite under one banner
The apple didn't really fall far from the tree there.
the ghymlit dark topped ala mhigo though
pandora's box
>There's not one assigned to each element
Yet there is
>That is bitter. The gods and fates are cruel. I served you faithfully once, Lord Nerevar, and you repaid me with death. I hope this time it will be you who pays for your faithlessness.
Oh I fucking bet it was Jenova, she was the scourge of the Ancients in FF7 too after all. She was probably the source of that sound from deep within the earth. Maybe she travelled to our world from another star and hid underground for millenia?
What element is Bismarck?
Not by any sort of mechanic in the lore that assigns each element a primal. It's just because the devs wanted one of each element and those six were the elemental gods in FFXI, excluding Alexander for light and Odin for dark.
Wind and water, and Ravana is earth and fire.
Steel
Wasn;t he ready to abandon (or at least change) his plan if WoL proved strong enough to contain the light? Since it'd show that even these new life forms had potential, at least?
He wanted to find successors, the question is if Zodiark's tempering would still allow him to abandon the mission after finding said successors. It really depends on what kind of god Zodiark is.
They can bring things into being with mere thoughts. Some dudes got spooked and birthed a few of their worst nightmares and so, even more people get spooked and it spiraled out of control.
There was an anime with a similar concept but I forgot the name. It was a mystery about a village where everything outside the barrier was nightmare. It resulted in people spawning the horrors outside the barrier and not inside. It all still goes to shit.
His reasons are sympathetic but ultimately he's just a fool who can't let go
I don't get it either
I find it funny but Stormblood really ruined his character
are you talking about shinsekai yori?
I think the only real explanation is that Elidibus has other shit in mind and wasn't really working toward the same goal as the other Ascians. Maybe he even instigated the summoning of Zodiark in the first place for some other reason.
>"What a disappointment you turned out to be. I placed my faith in you, let my self believe you could contain the light."
What did he mean by this? If we had been able to contain the light, what would he have done?
>mfw we are tempered by Hydaelyn all along
so that's why we couldn't get tempered by any other primals, but it raised more questions about artificial echo. If wol can swap body too he will probably be nigh impossible to kill
>world about to end
>proceeds to sacrifice half of the world pop to prevent the world from ending by summoning zodiark
>remaining half now has to live in a world completely fucked where rivers are poison and nothing grows
>proceeds to sacrifice half of the surviving half of the population to unfuck the world by summoning zodiark again
>leftover 25% is sick of this shit and summons hydaelyn
>hydaelyn kicks zodiark ass so hard it splits the world into 13
>ascians spent the following 15000 years bringing back together the reflections
>they completely botch the first rejoining
>all this to summon zodiark again so he can bring the 75% of the population they sacrificed back by sacrificing every living being in the source
Sacrifice for sacrifice for more sacrifice to bring people back for more sacrifice. I might've sympathized with his reasoning because all he wanted was his home back, but holy fuck his goal was absolutely retarded.
>deep within the earth
>aka inside of the lifestream
>Zodiark was summoned and mantled onto the planet
>meaning the two would be one and the same afterwards
>Garleans are going to use Construct 7's tech to dig into the planet
>Zenos only response to knowing the Ascian's plans is that he wants to absorb whatever semblance of Zodiark they summon
>sacrificing all the accidental imperfect "life" to get back all your family and loved ones and return to where you started before the apocalypse
Sounds fine to me.
Zodiark is the Moon now. Hydaelyn and whatever the screaming noise was are what are inside the planet.
Either give up on summoning Zodiark or keep you by his side. Being able to contain the light would've been the proof he needed that we're "complete" and worthy enough to inherit the planet.
Worthiness of those who came after.
Sort of like how even Amaurot didn't figure out time travel, but after two hundred years or something Ironworks managed it after the light calamity.
Remember kids, Pat is always wrong
We aren't tempered. The echo is most likely something all amaurotines possessed which allowed them to control the beings they created.
Zenos already told us about it, it's not like echo protects up from primal tempering, we're just simply on a whole other level compared to a primal so they can't infect our soul.
Plus hydaelyn doesn't seem too interested on tempering people, she has control over the whole source.
>Either give up on summoning Zodiark or keep you by his side.
Didn't he mention that "there might be a way to avoid bloodshed" ro something in one of the earlier scenes (i think around your first visit in Eulmore)? So he'd probably drop his whole sacrifice to Zodiark plan.
Remember he saw a bit of her/him on us.
These miracles won’t perform themselves. Ascians are smart enough to not fuck with the planets aether (unlike us.) Zodiark’s miracles (being summoned and curing the planet, restoring life to the world) needing unimaginable stores of aether, and since they won’t take from the planet, their only option was their own aether. Zodiark wasn’t demanding ritual sacrifice, just the battery power he needed to fix shit.
Yeah, he was hoping that by telling you everything you would either
>Stop resisting
>Join him
>Prove yourself worthy of inheriting the planet
He's recruited Warriors of Light before. Archon Ahldbhar in the Sixth Umbral Era joined them.
Nope. They lost the argument the instant (You) had the brilliant idea of making a new god that doesn't make you kill everyone to grant favors.
>shinsekai yori
Yeah thats the one.
Hydaelyn didn't and couldn't fix shit. Zodiark was summoned to rewrite the laws of existence. Hydaelyn was summoned for no other purpose than weakening Zodiark with her power of enervation.
And get she still managed to kick his ass despite his reality altering ability without demanding further sacrifices.
Zodiark didn't demand fucking sacrifices, he just needed aether to be able to fix things. Hydaelyn didn't need sacrifices to beat him because of her ability. She's weak, but just one attack from her cuts the power of anything in half.
Zodiark doesn't need extra aether when he's meant to be the planetary will. There is nothing they can give him that isn't already in his domain.
>should we move on and accept that the past is the past and we have to continue forwards despite our loss?
>no lets just let millennia of life grow and exist so we can feed it all to Zodiark so we can go back to how it was.
>do we know it will be?
>no
And on that note
>Story has directly shown that people resurrected by Primals aren't really there, the spark is gone, showing us that this plan was doomed to fail.
I thought the point was that he literally can't keep from summoning Zodiark, being tempered and all. So how would he be able to reconcile that?
ExPaNd LaNd
Draining the planets resources doesn’t sound like a good idea. In fact that’s something the Scions are explicitly fighting against with Primals.
>dude just suck the planet dry to fix the planet lol
He can't do shit without Aether. It's the death of people + their belief that provides that.
Didn't he kill his wife because she disgusted him
the purpose of the last dungeon is to evaluate if they can leave their history to you. The entirety of Amaurot is a museum of forgotten history, and the last dungeon is life like recreation of their armaggeddon.
Emet-Selch doesn't trust humans, and the whole bit about "would your people accept to sacrifice half of your population to save the other" makes it straight. Humans are dumb creatures unable to think globally.
The real fear of Emet-Selch, is that the new guardians of his memories fail to live at the end of the day and all he's done for millennia was useless.
He knows he can die in the next battle with the scions. He just wants to be sure it was all in vain.
Emet seemed to do a decent enough job by himself with the Amaurotine in the Tempest. He even made one fully cognisant of him being a construct. Now imagine what a Planet sized Primal could do when infused with all the aether in the world powering it? Sure it could have blown up in their faces, but it sounds like something that’s possible.
Except Zodiark is shown to be different in that the first thing done after the apocalypse was halted was to give life back to the planet.
The crux of the argument isn't "will this work," it's "is it worth sacrificing the potential of the future and these new peoples in order to salvage the past, no matter how good it was."
Well, I mean.. Crystals..
Primals can be summoned with any combination of elemental crystals user. All the Heavensward primals are dual element, and in Stormblood they just stop caring about it.
Sophia is balance, Sephirot is life or something similar, Zurvan is the primal of inevitable victory. Primals be weird yo
>He even made one fully cognisant of him being a construct.
No he made a chatbot that knows it's a chatbot. Where he filled everything else with "code" that was a reflection of the final days, he accidentally put in Hythlodeus the code that lets him know that he's sat around in a recreation, it's no different than the rest. He says this himself.
The Zoditards were willing to throw away millenia of life on the possibiltiy that maybe they had a chance of getting back what they had instead of moving on. The Hydaelyn supporters wanted to stop them from trying to return the star to a state of perpetual stasis. The Yin (dark) is the passive and unchanging, the Yang (light) is change and growth. But neither can be allowed to fully dominate. One must change to the other, then back.
Those are their domains in their religions, yeah. That has nothing to do with their elemental aspects. Ifrit is a war god, Ramuh is a wise god of knowledge, Garuda is the protector of the heavens and the earth, etc.
I mean, he isn't wrong. I take regular breaks from FFXIV and when I come back I enjoy doing even mundane things like aether currents.
Don't get me wrong, he's still a jew. But he is correct in the regard of forcing yourself to play is a terrible idea.
Imagine being the guys to press the nuke button on your entire country after being the ones to do everything to save it then some guy comes along and says "hey, all you gotta do to fix this is hop across the ocean and kill 1 guy". Of course they're going to be "murder happy". Literally Ardbert says "One life for one world, a fair exchange won't you agree?"
What if you had to kill a ant colony for this?
>The Yin (dark) is the passive and unchanging, the Yang (light) is change and growth
It's literally the opposite in XIV. There was a whole cutscene of Urianger explaining this to you, and they explained it again in Eden.
Fucking trainnies
He did everything wrong for the right reasons, like his ideas were sound as it relates to stagnation but destabilizing the entire country by way of fucking regicide to get to that goal while propping up a puppet is supa fucking retarded.
>Emet-Selch doesn't trust humans, and the whole bit about "would your people accept to sacrifice half of your population to save the other" makes it straight. Humans are dumb creatures unable to think globally.
His argument that people wouldn't do that got BTFO when an entire timeline unmade themselves to send the tower back in time to stop the 8th calamity.
Now see that's the thing, that's basically Emet-Selch's view of things and I would unequivocally kill an ant colony for that, so I don't disagree with him.
>when an entire timeline
You mean a small group of scientists within that timeline decided that
>duhh it was just like five people who magically retrofitted an entire skyscraper
Emet was already wrong because of all the bullshit you pulled together to even get to Mt Gulg in the first place
And that's why he keeps the Exarch alive. If he could roll back things too, he would do that instead of killing every single living being on the 14 different worlds.
The source 2 centuries after the 8th umbral calamity didn't disappear and didn't have to sacrifice people to send the crystal tower in the past, they just worked on it because you're legendary hero they've liked all their lives despite never knowing you.
Yeah I forgot the part where half the remaining population of Norvrandt committed suicide to power the giant talos
>Genuinely liked Zenos in SB as our antagonist, someone who pushes us and causes us to think differently
>Was disappointed when he offed himself but felt it was an appropriate closure
>Saw he came back in a different body
>"Oh shit this will be good. What's his objective? Will he turn leaf and learn to live a new life?"
>Nope. The ascian pissed off the second he was confronted even though he put up a reasonable fight against us and Zenos made 0 changes whatsoever and advances the plot in no actual way except to stop the Black Rose
He euthanised his dying wife with her consent, he just felt guilty for doing it for the wrong reason. James literally did nothing wrong.
They worked together to build the giant construct to get to mt gulg, they didn't sacrifice half of their population. Which is the crux of Emet's argument. To make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of those around you, not to just come together and pitch in to work a little bit.
>"Oh shit this will be good. What's his objective? Will he turn leaf and learn to live a new life?"
The first thing he says when you find out he's back is that he's not going to use his second chance to change and lead a better life because he just wants to fight you.
>there was literally nothing to suggest Hydaelyn was a primal before 5.0.
ARR ifrit questline cutscenes
>he acts like a panicked retard now that both his more competent friends are gone
>somehow that is a bad character
>IT DOESN'T COUNT IF THEY DON'T KILL THEMSELVES REEEEEEEEE FUCKING MORTALS
both the twinning and giant Talos were better ideas than Zodiark
Stop speedreading, faggot. He thinks you're already claimed, and then THE VERY NEXT FUCKING LINE is that he remembers Lahabrea warned him about the "godless blessed".
Yes but I was hoping that was just the typical trope of stating the obvious path but subverting our expectations
lmao what a fag, based falconcito verde cleaning up the streets of nigger commies
The point is that they talk about it in different terms on the first, but the idea does nothing other than enforce the tao, the source focus on effect and the first on generation, which is still the duality at play. Name one thing Zodiark has done that was a change, everything he's done has been a return to something, everything Hydaelyn has done has changed things.
The Virgin Lahabrea
>forces an edgy voice to sound intimidating even though in Amaurot he was some biology nerd
>dies screaming like a bitch to an elf pope after failing to beat the WoL even after fusion dancing
>everybody just thinks he's a faggot and he never bothers telling you anything about why he's doing what he's doing because he's autistic
The Omega Elidibus
>runs off to the moon like it's his mother's basement every time there's a hint of trouble.
The Chad Emet-Selch
>smooth, musical voice for telling stories and cracking wise, lighthearted in outward mood in spite of his sadness and despair of what he has lost. Was a well known authority of the ancients respected by all and trusted with their well being.
>so strong he has to be defeated with the aether of an apocalyptic flood of light, accepts his defeat with a smile and passes the torch to those who came after with but a request to remember his people and their glory
>never lies, always willing to talk and explain, perfectly willing to give multiple chances for mankind to prove themselves of possessing even a fraction of Amaurot's greatness.
I don't think that was necessarily the sacrifice he was looking for, but it was his fault for never specifying what exactly the goalpost was anyway. We can only surmise the only thing he was "testing" the WoL on was whether they remember being an Ascian or not, but nothing ever came of that, most likely because the story was near the end and they had little time to set up a final antagonist.
>Name one thing Zodiark has done that was a change
When he rewrote the laws of reality
When he fixed the planet and generated new forms of life
Every Calamity
Astral Calamity was displayed as darkness in Exarch's holofilm
>everything Hydaelyn has done has changed things
Everything she does is to try to keep the status quo, and her ability is to cut things in half.
>It was folded more than ONE THOUSAND TIMES! What was I meant to do?
I'd sacrifice you for a klondike bar
The more people bring it up, the more I find myself agreeing with Elidibus.
He had a katana you know.
I still think Lahabrea will asspull something and come back. At least i hope so, he went out like a bitch desu.
>When he rewrote the laws of reality
Back to what it was
>When he fixed the planet and generated new forms of life
Back to what it it was for the most part, they don't say "bring new life" they say "return life" the only thing he couldn't do was Ascians.
>Every Calamity
Is an attempt to return to the status quo that Hydaelyn shattered by creating the shards.
Face it, shadowbringers has pulled a bit of a twist on it, but it's fundamentally still following the Tao Te Ching.
Just alternate and spend a couple of each so you don't overcap..
This with the trust system would of amazing
Shadowbriggers felt like it was half a story, basically it's Stormblood without Ala mhigo arc to completed the expansion. It's like wait 3 to 4 months after release to see if shit goes down the Garleans. Personally it's still a 9/10 from the amount of content they got there but I wanted Wol, Gaius, Estinien and Zenos fuck shit up in the source then it would of been a 10/10.
>basically it's Stormblood without Ala mhigo arc to completed the expansion
Fuck off, the split focus detracted from everything. Moving between the First and Garlemald would have been fucking horse shit.
Rewatch the cutscenes of Mt Gulg, he literally says that seeing people like that brings back old memories to him but it's still not going as far as the ascians did by killing themselves to save the other half.
>shadowbringers felt like half a story
What the hell are you talking about? There wasn't focus on the Source because the expansion was about the First, dingus. Pretty much every plot point relating ti the first was resolved.
Nabriales the beta orbiter
>explicitly a lower tier ascian
>only accomplishment is kidnapping the weakest member of the scions and killing a literal who
>dies permanently right after he's introduced
>was still more of a threat than the omega Elidibus
This isn't your deviant art literary dandruff, kid. Villains are not only allowed to be morally grey but it's actually preferable. People who say this are expressing hyperbole in support for the more sympathetic qualities of a villain. But you're autistic and take everything literally so it's understandable that you don't "get" this meme. Have a good one. (means have a nice day)
I disagree, it was a great ending. Compare how mundane HW's ending was compared to the Nidhogg fight. I do feel like they should have saved Emet and this theme for the final Ascian fight. It's going to be very hard to make Edilibus match him, while it would have been the truly perfect way to end the Ascian storyline. It's a final struggle between Emet (last of the Ascians) and the WoL. I Imagine after he was defeated he knew the WoL would prevail against Edilibus and so the Ascian's cause was doomed, but there is still that disconnect of
>Remember us
>Remember that we lived
As if Edilibus doesn't count.
Worse is that Emet was doomed to failure. If he succeeded Zodiark would resurrect a bunch of hollow mindless shades given we saw what happens when a primal resurrect the well and truly dead. The only way to actually resurrect the Ancients before the world was divided is the crystal tower going back in time.
We don't know a lot about Elidibus really still, or what "emissary" really means, they definitely hinted that there's something more to it. Hell they implied that back in ARR when he said "Have the laws of man really changed so much that it is permissible to draw arms against an Emissary"
Hell for all we know that's the reason Emet didn't "consider" him in the same way. Maybe he was never really one of them.
I don't think that would be the case if either of the crystals revived the dead vs. something like Bahamut. The lifestream is a thing that exists and is governed by the crystal in charge, so Zodiark could probably actually bring them back if the entire soul of the dead person was in the lifestream, which is likely another reason Emet wanted to sacrifice the people of the Source.
Of course Elidibus doesn't count. Emet Selch made the recreation of Amaurot and its people to show its beauty, its accomplishment, the compassion and intelligence of its people, an indirect plea to look at what was lost.
Meanwhile if you wanted to make an argument that the Ascians are dorks and that Amaurot was a special education center you'd just set up a huge billboard with Elidibus's face on it.
My guess is the WoL is going to sacrifice themselves at the end of FF14 to stop the Sound. Alternatively if they don't make it the penultimate threat then Hydaelyn's enervation of the world will allow us to tangibly defeat it. The question is if the sound is is Lavos/Jenova or if it is Gaia. It's worth remembering Therion, the final boss of Amaurot and the 3rd doom, was in Final Fantasy Explorers a creation of the crystal/earth itself meant to smite those who abuse and interrupt the natural flow of aether.
Which to me seems to spell it very vividly as "The Earth itself was mad at the misuse of magic and decided to gaia-apocalypse it". The problem with this theory is life itself was corrupted and fucked up on the planet. Plants, water, wind, everything was. But it's hard to escape this theory when the third doom was their sins piled up to the heavens (their sin of abusing creation magick).
I don't give single fuck about the first beyond emet-selch and amaurot and some lore regarding the so called "god-primals"
I suppose your happy when developers shit down your throat and you call it a "happy meal".
Go take a bath because you stink of shit, grease and failure.
>elidibus wants to put us against other warriors of light
>Arenvaldt has the echo so he's most likely an ascian candidate
You think they might be setting us up for a betrayal arch?
>I suppose your happy when developers shit down your throat and you call it a "happy meal".
I'm not the one who liked Stormblood's storytelling though
>don't give a fuck about the first
>give a fuck about Ala fucking Mhigo of all things
I suppose if Zodiark runs the Crystal the way Hydaelyn does that could happen, particularly if there is evidence of Hydaelyn resurrecting people. I think it's fair to say she has the power to keep people whole in the aether stream - Minfilia or the original heroes at Cartenau transported somewhere safely (or was that Louisoix?). So that would be an argument for Zodiark being able to do so.
My problem there is the passage of time and diffusion of their souls into the aether stream. The only two we've seen brought back from the aetherstream fell into it only days/weeks ago, not millenium upon millenium. However I feel like the lakshmi resurrection scene was not just a one off aberration. Let me put it this way - we saw a similar thing with Leivathian eating someone with the echo and that had a long term ramification. Lakshmi bringing back a mindless body doesn't feel like a minor plot point to explain the Naga who was betrayed feeling sympathetic to Lyse and the humans. It feels like a very specific lesson that primals cannot bring back the dead truly.
In general, Primals just do not come across as clean-deal everything-is-by-the-books deities. There's far more of a Faustian Bargain or Monkey's Paw to their summoning. Every single one of them has ended up backfiring on the ultimate intention of the summoner - either they get tempered (Zodiark, every other primal prob including Hydaelyn), they divide the world when you just wanted to keep Zodiark in check (Hydaelyn), or any number of issues.
So it's really hard for me to see Zodiark giving Emet-Selch exactly what he wanted. Not because Zodiark is pure evil - just because primals and creation magick (which is just what a primal is, honestly) are defined by the theme of playing with fire.
I hope Lahabrea comes back over and over and becomes sort of a saturday morning cartoon villain, with the npc's remarking on it.
Every dungeon has a major relevance to the story, and a tangible purpose for doing it. The Lightwarden dungeons brought night back to the world and ridded the first of archangel monstrosities. It involved a step by step preparation for confrontation with the ultimate threat, the senior light warden (We then learn to be Vauthry). Twinning let us see into how they were able to time travel and begin this entire expansion. Akademya was a witness into the Amaurotines and the madness that began the entire story of FF14.
Compare it to:
>SB first dungeon
lol u got stuck on spooky spooky ghooost island. Go clear the ghooosts or we can't move. Once it's done there is no more relevance to the story. Nobody cares who the final boss is.
>Shisui of the Violet tides
Was to save some random raen princess. Far as I remember it may have even been an optional dungeon. Or it was some bland "We won't help you progress the story until it's done. BTW we won't support your efforts, we will stay spongebobs under the sea.
>Xaela dungeon
Literally the Titan Feast in the form of some stupid pagan ritual. Redundant given we already do a duty ritual to get chosen as Khan. Why not make that tribal faux-battle be the dungeon?
>Doma castle
More relevant
>Castrum
Great prospect of having us deal with some horrifying Garlean mad science, get a reason for why they invested in Gyr Abania (maybe some important resources for doomsday weapons)? Nah. It's just a fort. Not really anything important.
>Ala Mhigo
Solid and very relevant.
>Hingashi Castle
Some spurrious concept with YOOJIMMBOO as the final boss. Beyond that final boss member berries, pointless.
>Temple of the Fist.
Completely fucking pointless plot wise unless I am remembering wrong.
>comes back, ready for revenge
>gets killed by Gaius
>comes back again to threaten us
>Hoary Boulder solos him
>comes back again
>He becomes Tataru's assistant
"Emissary... what a poor jest that title has become. The flow of history has become muddied, it's currents wild beyond my capacity to direct them.
>they divide the world when you just wanted to keep Zodiark in check (Hydaelyn)
Elidibus specifically says that the world being shattered and people not knowing of it's true origin is the design of both Hydaelyn and her CREATORS. This was intentional.
>t. Faggot
I'm gay for Griffith
It was a literal sound. Think of it like the Marker from Dead Space.
>Tis said it starts suddenly, a cacophonous keening from beneath the earth. The Sound distorts all living things within earshot, and wrests from us control of our creation magicks.
>Once that happens, all is lost. Fear, pain, despair...every dread impulse is siphoned from our minds and given substance: an eternal fall of fiery rain, an incessant spawning of nightmarish beasts.
Normally they control their creation magicks. Errant thoughts will fuck it up (You acknowledge an eagle that landed by the window as you are thinking of a lion, intending to create a lion. You now create a lion-eagle), but they normally control when they want to apply it. It's just the end result can be not what they intended. The Sound Beneath the Earth rips control of the sound away from them and spawns their very worst fears and pains. The sound also distorts living things that hear it - not just those who can do creation magick but wild animals, probably the plants themselves. "distorts all living things within earshot".
Following line may be why some believe it's just that the ancients misuse of creation magic broke down the laws of reality, as some of them mention.
>None can point to he source of the phenomenon. 'Tis as if the star itself has fallen ill, as if a force inimical to life now festers and spreads.
So there is something that wrests control of their creation magic, and which distorts all living things that hear it. It doesn't just summon things, it fucks up life itself. But they also don't know the source of it, just that it starts with a screaming beneath the earth. Amaurot is invariably experiencing the loss of control and thus the keening - that's why amaurotines flee and create monsters behind them. They weren't trying to create something, the Sound "wrest[ed] control of our creation magicks".
Why has Yea Forums become so easily sympathetic to villains?
Also ignore that first bit, I was taking notes in the Yea Forums reply box because I want to speculate about what the Emissary is.
Things we know:
>Was in the convocation
>Asked WoL if the laws of man have changed so much it's permissible to draw arms against an emissary (To me suggests the Emissary was something universal in Amarout's time)
>Seems more aware of the flow of time than others
>completely different patterns on his robes.
>Far as I remember it may have even been an optional dungeon.
It gave you an aether current and slut gear.
Because we are the Yea Forumsillians
>sacrificing shattered souls to make man whole again is morally wrong
>creating artificial life in eden and sacrificing them to make some water is morally right
>site moves more and more right
>site identifies with villains more and more
You can’t make these self burns up.
They are both wrong, fuck “gods”
Alright thanks I didn't know if the summoners intended the division or if it was just Hydaelyn. I am sure she's a bad bitch too. I just am opposed to people whose sympathies of Emet make them think Zodiark is good news. No primal is good, the best they can be is good for a brief purpose and then disappear. Louisoix/Phoenix spells this out and that's why he doesn't want to be summoned and I think Ramuh feels the same way. If Zodiark was good he would have wanted to be summoned to fix the earth and then fuck off and disappear.
If they split between Garlemald and the first it would result in Garlemald getting less focus. Garlemald needs an entire expansion just to itself. I get frustration at going to the first instead of the source, but you wouldnt' want them splitting Garlemald's attention with another area. 1 more expansion is confirmed (literally, Yoshida said they are working on it now) and another is exceedingly likely after that. Finishing the Garleans up in 5.0 would have been too rushed.
>butthurt because he doesnt want his friends to stay dead
>the newer races of Eorzea have to die and stay dead without complaining tho
He is entertaining, but his motivation isnt as good as you make it out to be
ok now explain dhon mheg
Also thinking about it, does Elidibus ever say he serves Zodiark? he only mentions the one true god IIRC, which we're obviously primed to believe is Zodiark based on the way we're introduced to him with a congregation of Ascians saying "The one true god... Zodiark!"
What if he actually does serve something higher?
Well Zodiark and Hydaelyn are both giant fucking crystals. I hesitate to say they're devoid of differences, Hydaelyn and Zodiark don't need to be summoned for one, they just are forces now.
I've been assuming that Elidibus is after another goal. He even said he doesn't care if Varis kills the black robes, so they aren't important to him. He also seems to care much more about 'balance' than other Ascians. People are assuming WoL was the 14th convocation member, but they're misreading. What the Amaurotines said was that the 14th was suddenly /added/ right before Zodiark's summoning, not that one was leaving. Elidibus in FFT is also the summoner of Zodiark. He may have instigated all of this for some other reason.
So we're supposed to be a shard of an original Ascian soul, together with Ardbert, yeah?
Yes
To be fair Shisui of the Violet tides is optional. It not really needed unless you want extra custom delivery, which I assume you have to do that dungeon.
Also it just shows us random Acsian show up and fuck shit up like clockwork.
This site was much further right circa 2011-2014. Now it is basically tumblr.
Inb4 Elidibus is part of another super secret Ascian group that wear white robes instead.
The Ascians were arrogant and fucked themselves over. This is apparent from Emet every single time he speaks save for the last where he finally accepts it. They caused the calamity, summoned both primals, then wanted to mass exterminate everyone to try and fix their mistakes.
Hubris got them. They were not gods simply beings just like the players.
>They caused the calamity
They didn't though
They did, their creation magic was unstable as fuck and ruined the star. It's apparent if you do a lot of the quests in Amaurot.
No, it's apparent you didn't fucking read. First the elements died, and then there was a screaming noise from inside the planet. The noise made them lose control of their creation magic. They weren't fucking just accidentally making shit any time a stray thought popped into their head until the noise came.
the planet made a groan and it fucked up all their creation magicks nigga they didn't do anything except suffer because of a natural disaster, that's like saying an earthquake is humanity's fault because buildings toppled over people killing them instantly
You caught me, dhon mheg is pretty fucking dumb. I really expected the dungeon would be the giant castle and then Titania would be a trial right after it. But that's a deviation from the rule, and it really shows because the worst dungeon is conveniently the dungeon that has no real relevance beyond a temporary macguffin. Though the Ahm Araeng dungeon can compete with it for worst dungeon - I love the final boss and how he's this crazy eldritch biblical angel but the dungeon is otherwise just a hole in the ground.
But they're still primals. Still temper when summoned (as primals do). The lorebook stipulates, literally "without exception" stated verbatim, that primals drain aether by existing. But yeah because Hydaelyn (And Zodiark when he was in charge) are literally the star itself they might circumvent that by draining aether that they themselves create, or some kind of a feedback loop since while the lorebook says "primals without distinction drain aether" we haven't seen that come up as an issue from Zodiark or Hydaelyn yet. I can't believe they are an exception to the drain of aether but I can believe their unique position as the star itself allows for some balance with the drain vs creation.
>Elidibus in FFT is also the summoner of Zodiark. He may have instigated all of this for some other reason.
That's an interesting conclusion. Much as I normally buy jenova/gaia idea what if Elidibus felt the screaming and calamity was some shit about disharmonious balance between astral and umbral? So the only way to solve this was to first summon Zodiark and then intentionally summon Hydaelyn too? And he's helping the Ascians with rejoinings because Hydaelyn and Zodiark need to be locked in perpetual war for things to be kosher?
Where are you guys getting the name "the Sound" from?
From my good pal Emet-Selch saying it
What else would you call it?
>Elementals are pieces of aether experiencing sapience
>they don't like when people abuse the aether
>their reaction is always described as a horrific screaming
Who's ready to liberate Gridania?
I don't think I skipped anything and I never came across that name
There's no official name for it. The NPC just says a cacophonous keening from beneath the earth. So it's some kind of loud discordious screaming that fucks up living things that hear it, and takes control of your creation magicks if you have it. And a Garlean Legatus is about to start digging into the earth of the source, with something powerful enough to dig to the very core.
Seems like a really good idea. Good things happen when you dig greedily and dig deep.
Its interesting how he managed to finally make Ascians kinda interesting. Before they where a bunch of comically edgy Kingdom Hearts villains with a painfully generic "dude we will destroy everything" goal, now they finally got an interesting background and motivations. I hope they drop this autistic KH/Naruto tier look and instead make them all look like normal dudes who just want their old lifes back.
Why anyone thought Gridania would be a great place to settle at is beyond me, the forest itself wants you fucking dead if you try to survive in it
>The lorebook stipulates, literally "without exception" stated verbatim
This was before this was a thing, and not giving away the game is worth doing when writing lorebooks even if it makes it slightly less accurate. On top of that if they are like something higher than a primal but still mostly like one, then they could get away that way.
They got sloppy in the last century after thousands of years of doing it good.
>Emet tells us to remember him
>So we can bring him back once we are at 14/14 again and remember our duty
>Y'shtola is the best scion.
No taste.
>Elidibus making sounds
>Soken has also dressed up as Elidibus
We'll never be at 14/14 because Igeyorhm fucked up the thirteenth too hard.
Unukalhai
Not that guy but I'm of the belief that Emet is just *tired.* He tried to live among us and have a normal life, but found he couldn't come to terms with our fragility - his first wife and child got fucked by childbirth and disease respectively, I think - and I honestly think that if he could have brought himself to, he would have just laid down and died. But he couldn't, because he felt obligated to his people, and he was tempered besides. I honestly think that he was in a win/win situation. If he won, Hydaelyn's champion is cast down and he can continue his work unmolested. If he loses, he can finally fucking *rest.* I like to think he knew that.
Unukalhai
>the broken half-people remnants of Eorzea have to die and stay dead without complaining tho
He gave them thousands upon thousands of years to prove they were worth a damn compared to the people he was trying to bring back.
He was fully ready to abandon his plans if the new Eorzeans proved they had the potential to fill the shoes left by his dead people, but they kept disappointing him and seeing WoL unable to handle the light was the final straw for him.
He wasn't in the right, but his motivations made sense and he wasn't an unreasonable asshole about it.
I forgot the part that hints at him being a shard. I swear I didn't skip any cutscenes, just straight up forgot. Where and when did that happen?
>He was fully ready to abandon his plans if the new Eorzeans proved they had the potential to fill the shoes left by his dead people, but they kept disappointing him and seeing WoL unable to handle the light was the final straw for him.
And then the WOL proved them wrong mere moments later with the power of friendship. Which is the point, and why he smiles as he vanishes. Finally, FINALLY, they prove themselves worthy after he gave up.
>literally and unironically
Remove those and read your sentence again. It's unchanged. You imbeciles are literally idiots.
Probably the ones that summoned Hyd.
They haven't hinted at it, but it's just too convenient not to be the case. Of all the people to save, Elidibus swipes him up? He was supposed to be the WoL of the Thirteenth too, but was just too young to get to that point before the flood came.
They didn't, people are just savvy that not letting the game end on your big dick perfect ascian form will be against the way this story is written.
I think we're 8/14ths now, since there were seven rejoinings, also counting Ardbert.
Confess Yea Forums, did you cry at any point during the MSQ?
I cried at Emet's last words
>Remember that we once lived
Original Source soul
7 Rejoinings
Ardbert
That would be 9/14
>He was fully ready to abandon his plans if the new Eorzeans proved they had the potential to fill the shoes left by his dead people
I'd say that's definitely the case intellectually, but don't forget he and the rest of the Ascians are tempered by Zodiark. If he wasn't dying, he never would have considered the WoL or the halfmen worthy.
>His name was Ardbert, and he was my friend.
>One last time, with a little help. I'm so proud to have been a part of your life.
>most of Amaurot
>Emet's last words
Amaurot has to be my favourite zone in any mmo ever. They really nailed that melancholic paradise lost atmosphere.
This + the final shot of Ardbert reuniting with his friends.
>Magnus breaking down in front of the talos
Maybe Emet had more than one friend? I mean, DMV guy was one of his friends, and maybe we were his BEST friend.
I didn't cry but I had the eyes wet when all was said and done.
My real problem is that the final track during the second form of Hades made such a hole in my brain that I can't remove it out of it now. It's been 4 days now that I keep huming it when I'm not huming the crystarium and Eulmore's tracks.
youtube.com
This thing was absolutely crazy.
Yeah, it will be hard to top it imo, it felt like a true "final" area in a jrpg. Also it was intentional that all those "spire" things looked like DNA strains right? What with them using creation magic and all? Also love the Aetherite there.
No.
Some things were emotional and touching but I never cried.
The second one was the Exarch wasn't it? I recall the line but I can't quite put my finger on it.
I think it's probably the kind of case where Emet, WoL and Hythlodeaus all knew each other. It would make sense for him to have a stray thought about him specifically that way.
Thancred accepting Minfilia's death
>threescore wasted, ten cast aside
>four-fold knowing, no end in sight
ESL here, what do these lyrics mean?
It was meant to look like a modern city to make it hit home harder, that + the hint of old touch, the art deco, the old time music, radio noises all creates a feeling of nostalgia.
Cease at once, I'm legit going to fucking cry. In my 20 years of playing video games I have never felt bad for a made up character but Emet-Selch hit me right in the heart.
>The victorious writes the tale while the vanquished will become its villain
>Hythlodaeus: it is a terrible burden he bears.
Yeah.
Stop skipping cutscenes
Tesleen dying in front of Halric and the way Alisaie reacts.
Emet-Selch just wanted to go back to 1.0 and give it the chance it unfairly got deprived of: being FFXI-2.
He also wanted to save FFXI from abyssea.
He was a true boomer.
three score would be 60, but I don't think that bit is too important.
The other bits are 10 council members cast aside by being sundered, 3 staying whole and 1 leaving presumably. That or it's talking about how Elidibus is the last.
We didn't do anything wrong killing him, either, and anyone who thinks otherwise is massively low IQ. The best part of Shadowbringers is the confirmation about what the WoL actually cares about: Ishgard.
>You will never see WoL, Emet and Hythlodeaus debating with each other like in the good ol' times.
Score is 20 years. So threescore is 60. Four-fold is x4.
This part was indeed quite powerful.
I really didn't like the Far west like part of Amh Ahreng as an area, but it was great with the characters
>Not-minfillia is reminded that she's like a corpse for Thancred, as he can't not see Minfillia in her through Magnus' sadness
>Urianger tells her she shouldn't feel terrible because he's the reason why Minfillia is gone
>Thancred (as much as I hate the character) makes peace with the idea he won't see Minfillia again
>Magnus hating the Talos thing but unable to destroy what his wife did before dying.
The area was ass but the rest was great.
Speaking of which this image during the credits was super cute.
>spoiler
if you did DRK 60-70 you would know this already
>At the end of Holminster Switch dungeon
>Alisaie looking towards where you had to fight Tesleen
>Alphinaud: "Alisaie..."
We fall
I want it to be something like.
>Hythlo, Emet and WoL all best friends
>Emet comes up with Zodiark plan, WoL rejects it
>WoL leaves the council
>Hythlo has always been the reasonable middle man between the three
>offers to sacrifice himself for this
>WoL uses their memory and the feeling of loss as a core part of creating Hydaelyn to account for the name similarities
But what does it mean? What does it mean to have wasted 60? what does it mean to know x4? Is this foreshadowing of things to come?
Yeah, the general plot slows down a bit but it was good for character building so i didn't mind it. Still laughing ar Urianger's reaction when Thancred names Ryne.
Reminder that spam is reportable
That part ripped my heart out.
I teared up just seeing the thumbnail trying to post it.
Is that tanned elf in their party evil or something? She's always in the back, smirking
I like to think the smile at the end is because he know deep down the WoL is honorable and won't let their legacy or existence become forgotten, plus the fact he can finally rest.
I'm still shocked at how likable they managed to make him, he completely stole the show despite only truly being the villain for the last two levels
What BLM ability was he pretending was Float?
Man, I know this expansion was good because of the amount of sheer rich and varied emotion it can bring out of me. One minute I'm all "I challenge you, Emet-Selch." and rocking out to AUTHORS OF OUR FATES...And the next I'm lamenting every sad moment up to and including Emet himself. Poor boy fought so hard for so long, man. At least he can rest now.
four fold can mean having 4 units or components.
One brings shadow, one brings light
Two-toned echoes tumbling through time
Threescore wasted, ten cast aside
Four-fold knowing, no end in sight
One brings shadow, one brings light
One dark future no one survives
On their shadows, away we fly
Really it sounds like Emet Selch and Warrior of light and talking about the council, with the three score wasted just being fluff.
she's smitten with Ardbert but she knows he wants to be with the dwarf
My guess is Triplecast
>WE FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL
>Bravura's bloodstains are gone
>Ardbert's stubble is gone
Score means twenty therefore threescore means sixty
fourfold means 4x
The lyrics hint at the Ascian's fate and what they did to save the world, where they sacrificed half of their race to preserve the world and the remaining half sacrificed themselves to summon Hydalen, fourfold knowing can mean there are only 4 people who know the truth of what happened, those 4 being emet, elibidus, lahabrea and Hydalen.
Thats my personal interpretation and since its implied its Emet singing it makes sense.
>"him/her" in you (based on your character gender)
I don't remember this. Is it some dub thing?
It's in text.
>applying stupid shit like this to your spells
>as the job with the most single spell spam in the game
why the fuck do people do it man
Reminder to level one job of each role to unlock the secret role quest featuring the person that caused the flood and 6.0 spoilers
Ardbert doesn't know what sex is he's never even kissed a girl before, he thinks Lamritt is his mom
THIS
Orks are a warrior race that has had brief moments where they aren't just attacking everything around them. The biggest of these was when they were led by a guy who was raised by humans.
They have to be dealt with sooner or later, either expelled to lands unknown or just killed, time and time again the Horde elect leaders that just want to kill everything in Azeroth.
>best JRPG of the year is going to be a fucking MMO
It's crazy isn't it
>Leveling DNC
>Outdpsing my dance partner in 4 man content consistently
Fuck me, this is awful
I know but the elf doesn't know that he doesn't know
I wish trusts could handle big pulls. I'd use them all the time instead if that was the case.
I wanna see more of their adventures. Already more kino than the entirety of the Scions.
Yes. Thats the entire fucking point.
eh, just make sure to never ever take Urianger and always take Alisaie
>Alphy spamming Adlo and Physick
>Ali spamming Vercure
>meanwhile (You) actually doing the AOE damage that is needed
surprisingly effective
That's one of the beauties about him, why I disagree with people who wish he could have won. He was not only doomed to failure but that was part of what made him great - he was a tragic hero/villain fit for the old Greek stories.
Or the remark about the wise old sorcerer.
>Urianger is the old sorcer
>29
>Nigger is literally younger than Thancred.
I'm dying.
Wait, I got it.
60 years wasted, 10 x4 (four fold ) = 40. 40 + 60 = 100 years. Exarch arrived 60 years before he intended to? I know he said he got there much too early. Maybe he intended to be there only 10 years before the WoL arrived. Instead it's 10x4 years of knowing with no end in sight for the arrival of one who brings shadow and one who brings light.
But that is messy and shitty so I like with 4 people knowing (not sure why it's x4).
Lol wut. I wish it was 2011 again where you could have a trap thread without some /pol/ orbiter screaming Tranny.
Oh I see, thank you kindly for responding
>Mt Gulg (Hard)
>the giant Talos is moving and the mountain is changing
>climb up it
>tons of smaller Talos's everywhere
>final boss is the kid with the hat that is trying to turn the mountain into a trolley
This. It’s so fucking obvious.
The rolequests weren't half bad either. Poor Nyelbert ;-;
I really like how the mainquest had you rest in your chambers after coming back to Crystarium. Not only because you got to talk to your bro Ardbert but also because it added to the pacing and atmosphere tremendously. Also the quarters are super comfy.
I play a female character and don't remember seeing any implication that the Amaurotian was female.
Urianger is a big nerd and I love him for it. WoL's Elezen friends are the best. Haurchefant, Aymeric, Estinien and Urianger.
The physical dps quest was garbage. The healer one was the only really good one and even played a part with scholar finally finishing their fucking quest to cure the tonberries after 6 years.
>Poor Nyelbert ;-;
Honestly this was "Poor X : The Expansion"
>60 years wasted, 10 x4 (four fold ) = 40. 40 + 60 = 100 years. Exarch arrived 60 years before he intended to?
That makes sense yeah, I actually was JUST thinking that. Maybe 60 years of Eulmore fighting sin eaters, then one brings shadow is us, and one brings light is Ardbert.
I've only done Renda-Rae yet and I wasn't very impressed at first, but when you had to do the duty in the past and Ardbert showed up to save you that was a pretty sweet moment.
I just wish every cutscene in there ended with you still in the chambers desu, instead of warping you out
This. It really drove home how each zone was its own arc.
Nah, Renda Rea was just dumb and stupid
Now that the dust has settled, why was he such a bitch? "Dude he switched bodies a couple times lmao" isn't enough of an answer to explain why he was such a massive weakling compared to Emet-Selch or even Nabriales who wasn't even a paragon.
BRD or MCH? which one is the least boring?
Far as we know, no ascian besides Emet has gone all out against you
the fact that ascians are creator-demigods capable of making entire cities out of aether wasn't even an idea they had back then, they were just mystery niggas with black magic
>"Dude he switched bodies a couple times lmao" isn't enough of an answer to explain why he was such a massive weaklin
That's literally exactly the reason Emet-Selch gave you. Lahabrea refused to rest and was constantly jumping around bodies for tens of thousands of years. He was also incredibly arrogant, which led to him being undone by his own obsession simply because he underestimated Thordan.
He's not wrong.
Other way around I think, since he was the WoD and you are the WoL. I guess really it doesn't matter.
He does. He says something like "Sure Emet Selch sees Her in you."
Urianger and the twins are the best scions.
>When everybody swims back and Urianger doesn't appear because he is terrible at it
>"He'll wash up eventually"
I suspect they had the general idea about it, but not everything lined out so they didn't want to be dropping hints that they weren't 100% committed to.
Lahabrea or whoever was first makes sense, but once they knew WoL and the Scions were capable of deleting them they'd have no reason to hold back anymore.
It's like the developers decided in exchange for elezen having terrible animations and models they'd go fucking full tilt on giving them the best npcs and until Shadowbringers they had the best expansion too. The Crystal city is beaten by Ishgard but it's definitely in 2nd place.
The reason he was so bad is because the writers. But to be honest had he not gotten jobbed by King Elf-Pope he would have been fine. The problem was he died in such a ridiculously inglorious way. Not at the end of a trial but the end of a boss fight. And it wasn't even just him he was sharing the boss fight with someone else. And he wasn't even the final boss of the expansion!
I like the arrogance making his pride fall but man I wish they had done that to another ascian since lahabrea could have given us the feeling of a villain whose troubled us from almost the start of the game, if I remember right he's the mystery nigga haunting you in some level 15 or level 20 cinematic.
>Machinist that plays like an Edgar on Steroids
>Flamethrower
>Biobaster
>Reassembled Drill
>MECHA QUEEN
Come on, man.
well he came and then after they fixed the flood the night stopped being dark and sin eaters came, then you come and bring the darkness back.
>Ardbert watching over what you do
>Exarch spying on you constantly through his crystal mirror
>Feo Ul and/or Emet probably lurking nearby at all times
This expansion was all about stalkers
2.0 was a game rushed out after 1.0 was such a massive fucking flop that it almost killed Square Enix (And Square for like the third time in a single decade). They definitely weren't planning this far ahead.
>The thing that sent the Ascian civilization to doom was a Sound.
>Turns out it's this sound youtu.be
>yfw Drakengard raid next expansion.
He wasn't a fighter, he was a massive nerd.
Switching bodies all the time severely weakened him.
You had Hydaelyn suffocating him with her light that it overwhelmed. This is the whole entire reason why Hydaelyn is so weak because she used up all her strength to help you beat him.
>Urianger doesn't appear because he is terrible at it
He actually does, he's just lay down face first in at the other side of the screen so you mistake him for a rock.
They had a story outline in 1.0, and Yoshida said Shadowbringers was finally going to wrap up story that's been going on since 1.0. It also matches up with some of the lore related to the Echo we got back then.
if you look in that cutscene when it pans away, he's floating facedown in the water, then the screen quickly fades to black
Urianger is actually in the scene on the beach
Auracite isn't what kills Ascians anyway, just keeps them from body hopping. Huge concentrations of light are what deal the death blow, and he got nailed with all the light in Norvrandt packed into a single Bravura.
Inb4 he actually "created" lesser versions of himself and we never got to kill the REAL Lahabrea.
>It's like the developers decided in exchange for elezen having terrible animations and models
I play male Elezen and love it, they look great in gear and I've never had an issue with their animations. The default running animation is a little stiff, but they look fine running with their weapon out.
>WHM does more DPS than tanks
So nerf incoming?
where can they even go from here storywise
>emperor of garlemald dead again, zenos doesn't even really care about the throne only the WoL and killing shit
>only mystery nigga left is a baby backed bitch that can't do anything right. and after the excellently done reveals via Emet Selch he's not even a mystery nigga anymore, just a bitch nigga
>going back to the same old "oh no the garleans are attacking!" schtick after SB will feel played out
>very few major loose ends in eorzea that could warrant another expansions worth of conflict and content
what else can they do at this point?
Elidibus seems pretty sure he's dead. And as much as we're joking about Elidibus jobbing right now, he does seem to be the one that's been on top of things most of the time. Even when he lost to Zenos he took the time to let Zenos know the truth to see what he'd do.
The moon
I wish I could post images (need to reset IP) because that'd earn a terrified reaction image.
I was hoping that the Nier raid is more "Yoko Taro raid". I don't want three raids of just Nier Automata. I'd rather one raid draw inspiration from Nier Automata, one from Drakengard1/3, and one from Nier Gestalt. At least I hope we get gear that isn't just Nier Automata, because the intoners scream a dungeon set. Aiming, Striking, Maiming, Healing, Casting, Tanking. 6 gear for 5 intoners + zero
>Garlemald
>Elidibus and the Moon
By Yoshida's admission, Shadowbringers is wrapping up 90% of the story. They're moving toward the end.
>he's not even a mystery nigga anymore
We have no idea what being "emissary" means.
Are they referring to themselves in 3rd person?
Would it be better for me to finish ShB then start leveling an alt or start right now? I'm thinking of leveling a MCH.
Oh shit I didn't see it, I'll check it again.
>when you talk with the two Talos engineers and the young one makes some story about Ryne being a princess, Thancred and the WoL her bodyguard and Urianger a timeless wise wizard
>"I would like to hear more about this wizard"
He's so good.
Wrapping up the conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark* IIRC.
That doesn't mean that there isn't more to the story that we don't know yet.
NOOOOOOOO I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO THE SHED
>By Yoshida's admission, Shadowbringers is wrapping up 90% of the story. They're moving toward the end.
Really? Fuck, i only got into XIV recently, don't want the ride to end already.
Now THIS is a King.
It doesn't mean anything anymore, it's just a holdover from their old society, he states that outright. Looking back it's also why none of the other Ascians seemed to take him seriously, since he was parading his meaningless title around.
To be honest I don't play one but I feel the same way. Any Elezen I see often looks pretty cool. The biggest issue I've seen is the women have mostly dyke short haired haircuts. That's great for other races, but Elezen women look much better with longer hair. I'd love if they could steal a bunch of miqo'te ones (sans ears) and viera ones (Ibid) for elezen.
Yoshi said after Stormblood he needed 2 expansions to finish the story, which puts us at 6.0. However he joked at fanfest 7.0 is when we go to the moon. 7.0 puts us at 5 expansions, same amount as FF11 had, and puts us at 2023 - which is 10 years from ARR, 13 from 1.0. The final FF11 expansion came out in 2015, or 13 years since FF11 came out.
We're the WoL of the Source. Arbdert is the WoL of the First and he was a fragment of us. Unulkalhai was supposed to be the WoL of the Thirteenth, so obviously he's another fragment of us. It's simple logic.
WWWWWEEEE FFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL
They pull a WoW Cataclysm for The Source world. I don't mean "HERE COMES DEATHWING AAAA" but something happens that causes the world revamp itself. This is a good opportunity to redo the old ARR quests and zones so they are more up to date for new/returning players while also adding new content for people at level cap.
I wish they used Titania's old voice for Feo Ul.
So much better.
A dead king.
Now that the dust has settled, why was HE such a bitch? Was he playing 4D chess and it was just badly translated? It makes no sense.
1. We find out the real reason Elidibus manipulated the Council into creating Zodiark and beat him and Ascians once and for all
2. Zenos absorbs Zodiark and Hydaelyn sacrifices herself to give us a power boost so we can beat Zenos
3. With the two original primals dead the threat they were created to contain comes back and is the new main threat
>Bigger is better~!
You say that, but he never seemed to have the same goals as the other Ascians. None of the others talk about the balance.
The dead are dead. I guess it's more of a foreign concept to Ascians, though.
I legitimately think he planned some of it. Why would he tell Zenos everything about the history of Hydaelyn and Zodiark if he didn't want him to know? I'm betting he's gambling on Zenos' massive fightboner throwing a wrench into WoL operations.
Anybody else hoping they do a kind of soft reset after finishing up the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc? Like have us going to a new continent (Meracydia or the New World perhaps) with little to no old characters appearing.
I thought the same thing, but honestly, if the same writer is working on the next expac/patches then I'm sure it will be good too. I was skeptical after SB but now my faith is restored, she might even fix Elidibus, who knows. Also we at least still have that 14th Ascian thing going so I'm curious about the fate of the WoL.
>if WoL failed to stop the Lightwardens, Zenos probably would've died, never killed His Radiance, and the Black Rose would've been used kickstarting the calamity
>Wrapping up the conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark* IIRC.
Well I'm definitely curious to see how they're going to resolve that, but I'm also curious to see where they take the story now that all the 1.0 and ARR fetters are pretty much shed.
Would be sad to see it wind up shit and realize that they needed those garbage roots to work off of.
>Gabranth blows a hole to the center of the planet
>Zenos absorbs Hydaelyn
>becomes the ultimate Warrior of Light
You don't understand. He had a katana.
>90%
Source?
Also, there was some foreshadowing for a "the planet dies" plot between what we know on the ascians and the sequence post raid that happens in Ridorana lighthouse. We will have a FF7 themed expansion, the moon will be for the end and will be a FF4 themed expansion.
Considering the only questions Shadowbringers answered were "where is minfillia? What are Hydaelyn and Zodiark? What do the ascians want?" they can easily find another thread to unravel.
The map is still shrouded in clouds and outside of Garlemald we have no idea what is hidden under those.
Lahabrea does, they knew they fucked up with the 13th
He straight up tells you even the new normal raids are setting it up, he intends to throw you into the 13th while he finishes up his plans in the source.
Which one did you choose?
Also this fucking cutscene in general
>Ardbert offers his axe and the music starts playing
>Emet Selch sees your Ascian soul in the light
>the way they made making the fight a 8-man trial lore-friendly
>with little to no old characters appearing
As long as we get the twins and Urianger with us i wouldn't mind it.
Because the prerequisites for real change, progress or restoration almost always come off as villainous
No one ever made something great by pleasing every single person
you forgot the part where he's general zod 2 electric boogaloo
it didn't matter dialogues are the exact sme but i chose challenge because i didn't want emet to die. Retarded i know.
you look like John Marston
>gay furry gets cucked
Based as fuck
Am I the only healer the uses rescue to drag single pulling tanks forward? I can't stand these fuckers and I feel like there have been soooooo many more since ShB dropped.
>ALISAIE IS GONNA BE A PRIMAL OMG GUYS
>catslut with the exact same face like thousands of other catsluts
>wearing the most basic, "realistic" clothes possible to look even more basic bitch
Sometimes I really do wish I could see the person behind the computer who plays one of the thousands of catslut samefaces.
Because media is evolving from good vs evil and starting to make morally grey villains which are much more interesting and easy to empathize with.
Doesn't help either that Emet is brimming with charisma.
I know it's not going to happen but I really hope they drop Zenos as fast as possible and don't plan on making him play a big role in the story conclusion. Why this boring and clichee character is so popular I will never understand. It is so fucking cringey how they try to portray him as that TWISTED FUCKING PSYCHOPATH anime trope with the camera angles and shadows and everything.
That looks like me when I was 15 and thought I could grow facial hair
Also things like "where did the dragons come from? what lies beyond our star? did other things come here?"
Because he's a villain by our perspective, but he's the hero of his own story. And even then, I wouldn't call him a villain, just an antagonist. His goals are noble, even relatable, but his methods and endgame run countercurrent to our own.
He knows this, which is why he says that the strong shall triumph and the vanquished shall become the villain.
Dragons are from the Dragonstar bro
Yes, you are the only one. Because healer who act like niggers like you get kicked.
We'll have a rejoining of some sort, a merged part of the world because the temptation to use some bits from FF5 will be too strong. They haven't talked about merging worlds, but it will fatally happen, I'm convinced it's going to happen.
Personally i like murder hobos and he's as close to that as it gets
I.Hear.A.Sound
do it, i only do 3 pulls but if you feel you can heal me through it by all means pull.
>it completely backfires
>Zenos decides to go full autism and fix every single problem on the Source
>stops Imperial conquest, liberates every Imperial province that wants it, but improves the quality of life in the Empire to the point that no one wants to leave
>focuses on world peace, finds some autistic solution to the beastman problem making primals a non-issue
>the Alliance and the Scions can't do anything to stop him because he's doing nothing wrong
>spends resources finding some magitek bullshit to let him transfer his own body to the First so he can help us solve every problem there
>THERE ARE NO BATTLES LEFT BUT OURS MY ENEMY MY FRIEND
Single pull tanks are the ones that should be kicked.
They should just turn him into a yandere joke character that stalks WoL and tries to fight him all the time.
from the ad content he is the light guy and all the players are trannies who want to hide in the shadows, right? I thought it was like you are objectively the villains in FF14
>when you form the blade of light to smash the white aethercite and it takes the shape of an axe
I got a little hyped, I won't lie
Fuck user you tied that shit up with a bow and everything. That's the most perfect conclusion I can see:
>It gives us a big finish in 6.0 and avoids 6.0 being stormblood doldrums
>Save the Ivalice Legatus drilling into the earth to be relevant in 7.0. And because it centers in Garlemald they are the ones who experience the great bulk of the initial Jenova/Sound problem.
>Elidibus is given the opportunity to grow as a character. He might be revealed to be someone who was thinking in longer, grander terms than even the other Ascians. It'd risk becoming just according to keikaku but orchestrate Zodiark, then Hydaelyn in order to weaken the Sound or whatever is causing it. Is mad at Hydaelyn stopping rejoinings because perhaps it is necessary to divide and then rejoin the worlds in order to finally strike at the cancer beneath the earth.
The only problem is going to the moon in 7.0, if that was not a 100% joke, would mean Zodiark needs to stick around until 7.0. Still, I like your conclusion so much I gotta screencap it.
And yet, they are not. Sorry.
>the game ends with the balance of Light and Dark being kept in an eternal battle of immortals between you and Zenos
Do I have to lvl 3 more jobs to 80 just to do their quests?
The Grotesqueries and the Mother Beast are basically Sin Eaters in looks so Drakengard elements'd fit in like a glove.
I'VE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT
ZENOS YAE GALVUS IS A BITCH ASS MOTHERFUCKER
>My world has suffered an unimaginable catastrophe and is not even a shadow of its former self. I need to find a way to undo this disaster even if it means deleting everyone currently alive from very existence.
Why was it okay when Graha T'ia did this but not when Hades tried to?
You can do whatever you want just promise you'll never leave Aether, ok?
But he has a katana.
the wol is literally every high garlean's friend, gaius didn't really have anything against us, zenos just wanted to hatefuck us and this dude is really nice.
CRYSTAL GOOD DARK BAD
>Zenos lying on his bed with his feet up, hugging a pillow and a whining about how Wolly is always too busy to fight him to the death
>I thought it was like you are objectively the villains in FF14
That was only for marketing reasons, you aren't actually the villain. You aren't even actually the Warrior of Darkness, you are still 100% light. Please understand.
Honest question.
I always attempt to pull everything until a roadblock and yet I still get healers who attempt to sprint ahead and pull for me.
Why do you people do that? I've already agreed to pull everything.
You think at the end of the patches the first will be rejoined in a limited way with the source? That's plausible. What happened in FF5 with rejoining?
Ahahahahah
They literally spell out over and over ingame "We understand where you are coming from Emet. We oppose you not because you are bad and we are good but because it is our world, not yours."
I'M MAKING A CALLOUT POST ON MY TWITTER DOT COM
ZENOS YAE GALVUS, YOU'VE GOT A SMALL DICK. IT'S THE SIZE OF THIS WALNUT EXCEPT WAY SMALLER
That's an interesting way to look at it. Unless we're sure G'raha Tia's timeline was a complete dead end it's not entirely out of the question that after some time life would be brimming again, and him acting as he did is erasing that (well, this is unconfirmed).
why didn't emet consider sacrificing hydalen or some other aether resource to restore zodiark
He already is
My fucking sides, I hope this happens.
You killed my best friend and now you guys are just walking around with.a bunch of dumb swords. Well guess what I'm going to just sit on the moon for 200 years until you are all dead
I hope some angry people from the deleted timeline managed to hop to the first for revenge
Because you're slow (maybe necessarily) and it speeds things up. It doesn't matter if the healer eats an auto or two. Sit down and let the good players do their thing.
God damn. Sorry.
We don't know he deleted everyone. Actually it seems like that was disproven, because Graha didn't disappear in the First and they even said that the timeline probably continues parallely.
>a tank who is doing his job properly but too slow for you
>vs
>a healer who is actively hindering the tank from doing his job properly and griefing him with Rescue
I wonder who the GMs would think are in the right?
>come over from a literal hellhole to what looks like a paradise in comparison
>bitch and moan and try to kill everyone
Refugees welcome?
Yes.
He didn't delete them, they're just cut off into their own separate worst timeline.
and as his reward for being willing to off himself for a best result, he didn't actually have to
Now he just has to live with the knowledge of all those people in the Black Rose timeline suffering without him until they die.
What would happen if G'raha helped WoL go wake his Source self up early?
The Alexander raid storyline has shown that time is a closed loop in FFXIV. The Exarch stopped nothing.
>Sit down and let the good players do their thing
So you're going to have a tantrum over a couple seconds lost?
Nah, I'll just let you die to the ads.
>the millenia long battle culminates into a heated love session between Zenos and the WoL spawning new life
>What would happen if G'raha helped WoL go wake his Source self up early?
We'd get lots of G'raha porn.
Alexander confirmed that time doesn't branch.
>they even said that the timeline probably continues parallely.
>finish shit up with Garlemald next expansion
>the expansion after that we go to the doomed timeline to fix that because we just can't stop finding things that need fixing
FF5's plot is that Exdeath was sealed in a world by 4 crystals, and the 4 other crystals from the other world keep at bay the void.
When the plot twist happens, both worlds are rejoined and the maps overlap to form a new map. Something that would fit particularly a cataclysm like expansion.
The fact that G'Ra'tia isn't gone seems to imply that shit will go wrong anyway in a way or another.
This is reddit. This is memes.
He's trying to wake up Graha in the source early, so it'll likely happen. That'll probably start another timeline. Time travel is always annoying shit but I prefer the simple and direct solution that if you go back in time you start another branch. However, has time travel be a closed loop. But they are not going to end with the Black Rose activating and WoL dying. This isn't Yoko Taro, and even I think he wouldn't be so bleak. His end would involve a rhythm game anyway.
>A rhythm game of trying to keep your heart beating and to endure the Black Rose.
Jesus christ that's so fucking dark I could see Taro doing that.
So in the end it all comes down to everyone in this game wanting to fuck the WoL
>finish shit up with Garlemald next expansion
I wonder if we'll get a Garlemald civil war storyline.
Because he wanted the souls (which are fragmented Ascian souls) to enter the aether current again.
>watchers begin to influence the XIV timeline via the nier automata raid and become the new big bad
>start to subtly manipulate events in the source to be able to barge in full force and destroy everything
I've done it once during ShB. The tank pulled out some excuse about the DPS that were with us not having good AoE (SAM and NIN if you care), and at that point the deeps players started calling him out too. We still ended up going at a slower pace because what are you gonna do, but I sure hope he at least didn't leave with the belief that any job is better off doing single target during dungeon pulls
As bad as this shit is, it only gets on my nerves if you attach a gay little sound to it. If you are a healer I am begging you to please remove any sound effects (or at least pick less awful SEs), and just write something basic like "Insta res casted on "; you don't need these types of macros for stuff like dungeons or hunts anyways.
I'd heard that final fantasy games often have that 'mid to mid-late game switch', like with Kefka. So you think that is what'll happen? If they really are ballsy, think it could happen before 6.0? Finish up Zodiark in the patches, and then boom 6.0 comes and you have the return of the first (and perhaps the other shards) and deal with The Sound and whatever new enemies come about from this merger?
I do feel like the enervation and splitting wasn't just to stop Zodiark. I feel like it was to stop The Sound too, or to diffuse how vengefully "Gaia" responds to aether abuse if it isn't some cancerous entity that is responsible but rather the planet mad at aether abuse see So instead of a literal apocalypse you just get a bunch of angry spirits wrecking your shit in the forest.
I'd like that. Tetrarchy situation with just a bunch of Legatus instead of a duality. Make it so each Legatus is a big boss the way the Light Wardens were.
FF does it, but it's a bit more of a dragon quest thing. Though dragon quest games sometimes do it twice and basically give you a trilogy.
But I get the feeling they've got something tucked away.
I think he had no idea how strong Zenos' fake echo was desu
As a tank, I only do smaller pulls if it looks like healer is struggling to keep me alive. Bigger pulls are a strain on the healer, not the tank, what difference does it make to me if I have to use AoE weaponskills on six instead of three mobs? Yeah, there's defensive cooldown usage but you use those regardless of enemy number. Why would a tank be upset if healer runs off to pull more? That's just positive for me. Is it an ego thing?
My problem actually is not that Healers do DPS, well they can do that as much as they like, my problem is when I have to waste cds and invuls for auto-attacks and don‘t have them ready when I really need them.
I have died enough times from tank buster because I had only one normal and one light cd ready and was not appropriately healed beforehand.
But what I really find unfair is on mixed healing teams that the whm‘s currently led the other heal doing the majority of the healing. I saw it more than once that the AST/SCH was extremely low on MP and the WHM had more than 80% and only healed on gCDS.
Do all the role questlines.
How is he hindering the tank from doing his job? Is he removing his ability to use AoE? Fucking retard.
Based. Sprout tanks gotta learn big pulls are the way.
I love trials roulette.
>having to grind for days in classes you don't like playing just to get the whole story
>Wolly
That's a neat nickname for us.
It happens in the first final fantasy quite a lot
>FF3: your starting "world" is a tiny part of the real world maintained outside of Xande's influence, the twist is that the world is much bigger than you thought
>FF4 has several "world" as there is the surface, the underworld and in the end you're going to the moon to wreck Golbartz's shit (but plot twist happen )
>FF5, there are 2 worlds made seal Exdeath in one and keep the void at bay with the other. When the crystals are shattered, the 2 worlds merge into one.
>FF6, emperor is an asshole and his buffoon of a general becomes out of control and burn the world down. The world is completely destroyed at the halfway point, hence the "world of ruin".
FFXIV will probably use some of these ideas in the next expansions. It's just hard to guess how soon that will be.
I'm thinking the Yorha raid will be related to the post 8th calamity world but as I wrote it out I am not so sure about that.
And the background just does not strike me as anything first or source. It's got a lot of that 100% modernity debris. Likewise, why would the Amaurotines have needed androids? Unless maybe it's another ancient city on the undivided source, one which relied more on technology and less on androids. And then their horrifying monsters can easily be Drakengard or Nier inspired.
Let me change it, makes me think Yorha apocalypse will take place during the original calamity in a different city. Even though I assume everyone could do creation magicks back then maybe some preferred using more technology and less creation magick. Or obviously the solution to deal with an enemy that distorts living things and takes control of your creation magick?
Make an unliving combat android which doesn't use creation magick.
I'd like to see what Eden is. It's on the first and it was central in the light calamity. That really only leaves it being some ancient Amaurotine era technology. Yet what we saw of the Amaurotines was remarkably banal technology wise. Their magick was incredible, but the interior of Eden was more sci fi than even Allagan.
oh my
When is the next story patch? I wanna know what happened to Gaius goddammit
Dotting an enemy isn't throwing a tantrum.
Now wiping the group because you didn't get aggro first on the other hand...
couple months from now
>Unless maybe it's another ancient city on the undivided source, one which relied more on technology and less on androids. And then their horrifying monsters can easily be Drakengard or Nier inspired.
There was a side-quest in Amaurot that mentioned how another city far away already fall to the calamity (i think it was the quest with 2 Amaurotites debating) so maybe?
>Ouch that hurt! You playrough.
FUCKING. DIAMONDS.
In what 8-man content situations could SCH possibly run low on mp without repeated back to back Resurrections? Not even a couple Succors can cause that, and Indom, Whispering Dawn, Fey Blessing and Seraph's AoE heal are mp free AoE heals
