Sonic 2
There exists no good 3D sonic game. Generations is a bad mix between a gimped 2D sonic with poor level design and boosts boring “hold left or boost and occasionally the slide/left right buttons to dodge something”

SA1 is an ambitious attempt at 3D, but outside of emerald coast and red mountain is an absolute mess. Infiltrating eggmans ship is probably one of the worst gravity implementation I’ve ever seen.
SA2 is godawful, buggy as fuck, and falls off a cliff after island escape. I cannot fathom what the duck they were trying to do with tails’ slow, boring mech “gameplay” but whoever’s decided sending him to Egypt and doing jet pack platforming and putting him in a maze should be shot
06 is 06
Heroes was less buggy, but the levels were boring and team attacks were stupid
Unleashed had boring boost hold right gameplay and godawful werehog segments at slideshow tier framerates
Colors might as well be a 2D sonic

Mania was the saving grace of the series, but didn’t do enough new

Sonic 06 didn't try to be like Adventure 1. It had 3 stories, 2 of which actually mattered to the plot, and Sonic's plot focused on rescuing the princess (basically Mario but with bestiality)

I think Lost World was a step in an interesting direction for 3D games. Level design was ass, but once you learned how the game works its kind of a blast. Parkor, 2 speed modes, wall shenanigans are things that fit Sonic so well. Gimme that sonic + utopia sonic and throw me in BotW or something.
