explain
Tactics Ogre series is pretty much from the same lead game designer.
tactics ogre.
it's a really good series that has always been mentioned when FFTA and FFT was talked.
also there's Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Robot Taisen and Disgaea off the top of my head.
not to forget that there are other series that have tactics games as spin-off games.
you're absolutely welcome, OP.
This, Gria ans Seeq are great. Lots of new classes and the game doesn't take nearly as long to pick up steam and gives much more freedom to progress. Also some absolutely top-tier side characters like Frimelda
When does this get good? I've tried to play them before but just get bored 10 mins in.
he said good
tactics ogre one vision is the best FFTA, for that sweet sweet gunblade
>it's a really good series that has always been mentioned when FFTA and FFT was talked.
that's because FFT is just a rip of tactics ogre with the FF name on it.
Nobody ever talks about it but Capcom developed an Onimusha spin-off that was a direct clone of FFTA, called Onimusha Tactics. I'd say it's worth checking out.
Tactics Ogre is kinda slow. I can't play a slow SRPG since you need to do thousands of set ups. I remember I played Tactics Ogre Let us Cling Together and I partly became insane because the game was so fucking slow and you had tons of pointless battles against random encounters.
Maybe the problem with the game was that there were battles against randoms. I mean Fire Emblem is also only fun because every map is relevant to the story.
i dont get how this works
Is Tactics Advance good?
Is it wrong to fap to Marche? N-not that I did or anything.
Highly recommend the 2 Devil Survivor games
They are pretty different from FFTA in both mechanics and presentation, but they still scratched a similar itch for me
>Playing game for weeks
>Start making Montblanc a black mage
>moogle magic jobs suck, only get black and time mage
>decide to just make him a gunner/mog knight mix for high damage
>spent too long with him as a mage and now his phys damage is shit all the time
Should I just get another moogle and bench Montblanc?
Play Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark
Montblanc stats always suck, you should've bench him from the start and get generic moogles
>moogles
Moogles straight up suck, unless you go full meta with their stat growths, which is extremely boring.
marche is a selfish prick
What don't you like?
Lini is the best gunner. High atk concentrate stopshot is the best fucking thing ever.
>the final fantasy tactics is dead
>bring Montblanc to lawless zone
>"accidentally" let him die
>"forget" to revive him
>Marche gives half attempt on "Montblanc? Montblanc!"
>no one even mentions the incident
>enjoy the rest of the game
Sacrifice him to the jagd. Never look at his stupid face again and get based bangaa bro in your cutscenes and dialogue
Not him, but the injury system is fucking trash, thankfully it can be turned off or just be dumbed down to an AP penalty. Also, I'm not that much of a fan of the way accessories work. There are literally no limit to what you can equip. Want to wear 5 pair of boots? FIne, no problem. Want to wear 5 pair of gloves. Have at it.
Also, my units always feel weak as fuck, I don't know why.
Just turn him into an animist and sleep/frog everything
Really any class that has access to sleep/frog/death/petrify is broken as shit
Assassin with concentration was my shit. All viera eventually were assassins in my game. And half the males ninjas. Dual wield was just too good for all that skill power levelling
Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Tactics Ogre, especially Let Us Cling Together
My dearest of niggers
It's a long game, and it starts to overstay its welcome a little bit by the end. I wouldn't say battles are slow, but the crafting and the grinding can get very grating
Wow I actually remember reading reviews of this back in the day.
fft was one of the slowest and dullest games i've ever tried
Then you don't know what slow is.
the fuck is this
Oreshika, Wild arms xf, Psp Popolocrois although it is more of a jrpg than a tactical rpg I guess
A notBangaa.
I thought he was supposed to be some kind of tree person
he looks like a cowboy to me
i hated the stupid fucking card system. i liked the ps1 version better
this had a stupid system that you can only equip shit right before a battle. i liked being able to do shit at my own pace
>looks like an sjw flash game
no thanks
A bro.
It's a solid game with some flaws that can be remedied by it's good modular difficulty system.
Art style can't be fixed, though.
So, why this spin-off series is dead?
Is Final Fantasy Tactics less popular on Japan than the west? It feels like such a big title everytime the topic of tactics rpgs come up, but somehow they never make sequels.
Tactics was popular, FFTA was... hamstrung in many ways including the extremely annoying law system as well as the limited gameplay and battlefield designs.
Probably doesn't help that its own spin-offs never brought attention to the series, and had little to do with Tactics Advance other than the characters
Fire Emblem isn't really worth playing. I've given the series three separate chances but it never evolved beyond passing stat sticks between units and sticking them in chokes.
Fae Tactics is due to be out this year. It's made by the Valdis Story couple. Decent chance it will be good.
>FFTA
>good game
Digimon Survive

If you get him killed at the very first jagd you get a little “Montblanc didn’t make it” thing with his brother.
Interesting.
Reize Seatlan better not be in that game again.
How's this? It's on sale right now.
I've never played it but there was a Joan of Arc PSP game that looked Tactics-y.
Dofus
It's pretty good. Status effects are more effective they're gamebreakingly strong with Concentrate and the classes typically have more interesting movesets. There's also no stupid zodiac system fucking things up. The game shifts how it levels classes, though: instead of grinding experience in a class to level it up, the experience is used to unlock spells for the class. Spells are gated behind certain weapons, but once you've learned it, you know it permanently and can switch weapons to learn something new. The end result is that abilities are gated behind plot progress, so you can't do shit like grind a Calculator with Holy in Mandalia Plains. It also has the unfortunate downside of needing to equip a unit with shittier gear if a class' core ability is on a lower-tier weapon, but I think it's generally a better system.
There aren't random encounters either, thank christ. You only get into fights by pathing into an enemy roaming on the overworld.
The game has a divisive law system that punishes you for taking certain types of actions, which can be infuriating, but you can also manipulate it to punish your enemies (but it mostly just fucks you up). Look it up.
I might be talking out of my ass on this last part, but the stat differences from levelling up as certain classes seems more impactful in FFTA than FFT. If FFT you can level a Knight up but still switch him to Wizard and have him melt faces, because the class multipliers on stats were so much more important than the stat gains from levelling (once you were past level 20ish, at least). That shit doesn't fly in FFTA so well.
I've played through it like 4 times, but on every replay I had it emulated at x3 speed for my own sanity. God help you if you calculate a spell to hit the whole field and its animation is +4 seconds.
The importance of base stats is probably my most disliked thing in FFTA, Marche can never be anything but a physical attacker because he starts as Soldier, same with Montblanc and magic, and characters you recruit already as promoted classes will be way stronger than anyone you raised playing normally.
Tears to Tiara 2
L i t t l e m o n e y
wow someone else played this game?
Second best Cid is what. He made a great Monk.
The pure magic that is FFTA character design.
Barely, I only go to the layer where there's 2 nations fighting. Gave up then because the game is way too fucking slow and I couldn't bear it anymore. It's the poster child of why ATB combat is shit and unredeemable.
>Also, my units always feel weak as fuck, I don't know why.
It's a sheer numbers thing, since they always outnumber you they can actually out-damage your healing (and out-heal your damage) if you're too reckless.
>mfw I started playing my playthrough with an additional elite enemy unit
Bloody hell, that shit was brutal.
Injuries are just a waste of time it’s so dumb.
>Get Hurt
>Wreck first map with double cast field nukes
wait that ahppens?
if montblanc dies you get a different character to take his place?
is it a generic character or just whoever is number 1 in your clan roster?
You don't get a replacement unit.
Legit dev.
Games already going to be great.
in the cutscenes i mean
The most logical reason is probably because they're too lazy to remake everything's design for the 3ds. Now that the 3ds is dead they could had just forgotten about it
This + 1.13 put your retard nip tactics games to shame. Nothing else even comes close.
If you have a DS, Heroes Saga Laevatein Tactics
Shit, that looks pretty nice. Valdis Story was great.
tactics is hard
tactics ogre would be a good game if it was 1/3 as long. it's not interesting enough to warrant spending hundreds of hours doing the different routes.
patrician choice
You're slow and dull
I bought this as a kid right after beating FFTA. It's fucking terrible.
He’s a tengu without wings?
FFT - its smarter and more talented older brother.
I thought the UI was pretty intuitive
>hundred of hours
By the end of your first playthrough, you should have powerful enough units that can cheese most of the early missions extremely quickly.
