one of the best stories and combat systems in the series, sadly it lags in the middle and the translation for the original game on the PSX is garbage. I would give the recent updated versions an 8.

Great game that brought the series back more in like with the original game (in both story and horror) and had the most polished combat system of the 3. It level design was a breath of fresh air from the rather boring and tedious "check which door isn't broken for an entire apartment complex" of 2.

Been playing it on and off over the past few months because I've always been a fan and never played. Went through the hyper fanboy phase and the 'hating it because it was popular' phase as well. Now that I'm actually playing, the game kicks ass. Just got past that snowboard part on disc 2. So far it's been 8/10 and I expect it to just go up.
