I went through voice lines in sound test and found some interesting tidbits:

- demon enemies have lines for every elemental spell save light ones. Personally I've never seen any demon cast Va Isha or Fald Taiab.
- Similarly, Dominique has lines for every spell save dark ones.
- There's quite a few seemingly unused voice lines for major characters. For example, Johannes screaming "no, Miriam, stay with me" or Zangetsu snarling "you monster" or even Miriam saying "I'm hungry" and "I owe you". Lines for alt character runs?
- Both Bloodless and Dominique have a sound byte which can be described as "heavy breathing".
- Tamako enemy has a voice line saying her name aloud cheerfuly. Seemingly unused.

The 8 bit gun when fully maxed deals more damage than the other endgame gun which can track targets. Add diamond ammo and the recycle hat you get from the hungry, hungry granny and you have a recipe for a good time.

You need to be of a high enough level that OD allows you to borrow the special book that counts as three others (I can't remember the name right now). I think I got it at level 40 or something like that.

Once you borrow the book, if you try to step into that room he'll demand that you return it and begin the fight.

You can get a lot stronger by simply maxing out a passive shard. You can become unbeatable by maxing out any good mid to end game offensive shard. For example carpenter shard is stronger than the revenants but both can beat od with ease.

Navigating the very early game without Dullahammers was a pain.

I am completely lost. I have beat Bloodless, and found the throne room, where I triggered the bad end. The problem is that I can't find a single place to continue exploring towards, everything is gated by either water, and I can't swim, or by some weird wall mirror setup that I assume is a horizontal dash of some sort. I even figured out I can use Bloodless' shard to drain the blood fountain, and that STILL leads me nowhere.

Coincidentally, the water turtle cave boss from CotM is missing but is mentioned in the files. So you most likely fought him just before the first "mandatory" water room, beat him, and got Aqua Jet.
But they cut it, so they put it in the stupidest place possible, being a fight nobody would do and make the drop random to boot.

I played 90% docked though, and one of those 2 crashes were when I was playing handheld. Did you play docked or handheld?
Also did you ever switch between docked and handheld while playing the game? I suspect the game doesn't like that.

I still hate this. Zangetsu already had a Katana and we already knew of Zangetsu even back then.
A whip would also set Miriam apart from Alucard/Soma a bit and give her a bit of her own identity, but I suppose people might have not wanted that.
But why a Katana? Zangetsu being all Samurai makes sense for him, but Miriam? A cursed countryside English lass? The Katana would be a really odd choice for her combat training.

I decided to put the game on a hiatus for a while. Xbox dpad is uncomfortably far for my small hands so I decided to wait for 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ which should be out next month.

Has anyone figured out a fix for the random freezes where the music continues to play? These are fucking annoying and I feel like the frequency is increasing.

Someone here posted a reddit thread that had some cut enemies/bosses/shard names, but other than that all I've seen is a webm of someone playing Zangetsu mode already.
They showed he has a number of elemental spells.
I fear they will make fighting normal mobs just as piss easy as high level Miriam.

I had them happen for awhile and assumed the increasing frequency was related to how much of the map I was visiting, the more it filled out, the more the game was struggling to remember.
However it completely vanished while I was just doing the postgame 100% cleanup.
Dunno why.

When do I start to mess with optinal bosses? I accidentaly tried the retro boss, but he got me. And the Carpenter killed me when I went in there too. Been a few levels, but dunno when I should do it. Got the sword from youknow who, so I guess I should go up the stairs around now

Might as well if you're going that far, level 99 is max.
It's impossible to grade 9 Craftwork, Reflector Ray and Dimension Shift since they reset on NG+
So 1 NG+ to get 9 Silver Knight and 9 Shortcut, plus all the other shit you mentioned is probably as 100% as you can get.

Go up them stairs and then do the optional bosses maybe 15% map completion from now.

This is solid advice.

I found that the beams unfortunately suck since they deal damage at such a slow tick. Unless you cancel fire them like a gun.

Playing on switch. Just about to complete my first playthrough.
Its playable and enjoyable, but obviously buggy and unfinished. The visual step down isn't an issue unless you do comparisons, on its own it looks fine. The framerate is awful and the worst part, its particularly bad in large rooms with detailed enemies in them. It makes one of the best parts of the game kinda unpleasant.
It crashes rarely, but just enough where you will be plotting your movements based on where the save rooms are. This is not an issue to me, since I prefer to use save rooms for healing over using items ever since SotN so I've always planned around it, but its unpleasant to be in an area thats had a crash before and having to deal with the uncertainty. I have no idea what causes the crashes since they cant be replicated.

tldr if you have no other choice, its still a great game on the switch. If you have literally any other option available to you, do that option. It needs to have the framerate stable at 30 at least, I'd obviously prefer 60 but I just want a stable framerate.

They can up the stats of monsters or put in new ones. Some here just don't make sense like increasing the flying heads HP (assuming they want them to die in two hits rather then one) or nerfing shards like bunnymorphosis and welcome company.

In the end, all IGA games have dumb bullshit that you can exploit and the games become piss easy. Don't blame players when you give them the tools, already so many are bitching about grinding for the dismantle items when the ghosts used to drop way more. It just makes things more tedious to balance a single player game for dumb reasons

I think I found a faster and better way to get Gold. Everyone always says to farm the water horses and dismantle their ayumurs but that takes a lot of alkahest, 10 per one! and also the water horses drop those things at such a slow clip.

Instead, I got from one way point of the desert to the next and collect like 13 chests along the way each with a chance to give you gold and if not gold then crystals, mahagony, and silk that can all be sold to make a lot of money. Each run is pretty quick too once you know the route.

What? The game is already out. We know how it plays and the vast majority of people love it as-is. The nerfs are unnecessary and will hamper most peoples' enjoyment with no actual benefit since there's no competitive aspect.

And even once something like leaderboards come along, there will always be an optimal build people end up with. Nerfing those down until nothing stands out will kill the fun and unnecessarily dampen the single player experience.

With the ultimate weapon recipe book you can upgrade the bit weapons up to 3 levels, giving them way higher stats.

First time I fought him I encountered this weird bug where every time I jumped to hit his face he'd stand up taller and taller. It kept going until his face was completely off-screen and I couldn't hit him at all so I had to reset.
