Sonic 2 has my favorite music in general from Sonic as a series, such a good soundtrack.
Genuinely the best finale theme of all, it really feels climactic, like you're facing him down in his last stand. I prefer it to the pursuit-type themes of 3's finale.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Sonic 2 has the weakest ost of the genesis games.

Sonic 2's versus mode was at least complete levels, and was genuinely pretty fun to play.
Sonic 3 just had those tiny little nothing stages, but with completely original art assets, unique stages, really good original music, and until Sonic & Knuckles released, it was the only way to play as Knuckles.
