>Kickstarter pulls MMO because it was too ambitious and needed to raise additional funds
What the fuck, why didn't they apply this to the other funded MMOs?
Kickstarter pulls MMO because it was too ambitious and needed to raise additional funds
>agree to rules
>break rules
>suffer consequences
>how could this happen to me
This is exactly the same as the game stolen retards. When you agree to rules, you should follow them.
There's no way they were going to make a good 3D MMO in the first place with only $100,000 and a indie size team.
>supporting red tape semantics because a mediator website wants more sheckles
how does that boot taste my friend
three days until this is an epic exclusive
CoE and others were allowed to. Is it just banned until the kickstarter campaign is over?
Because of Shenmue fiasco.
Kickstarter will have to be much stricter from now when it comes to exclusivity deals and extra investors on or people wont trust it.
>Shenmue fiasco.
Can someone give me a quick rundown on this?
>Fans want Shenmue for some reason
>Ok, kickstarter time
>Epic sees a boner, decides they want to sit on it first and not let anyone fuck it
>Becomes Epic exclusive when it was a Steam and multiplat release in the Kickstarter
>People get angry at the scam
>They say fuck you, if you don't like it we'll pay you back what you donated
>But people doesn't want their money, they want their game, that was not possible to make without their faith in the project up to that point
>Backers won't also get promised stuff, will have to buy it like everyone else
>Kickstarter scams strike again
user didn't support it, the devs did when they tried using it.
Don't want to get kiked by the kikestarers?
Maybe they shouldn't have used it.
If you put a fund raiser on kick-starter and set a financial amount you should make it for that amount.
Because they continued their funding campaigns on their own websites, not on Kickstarter itself, with is against their rules.
This has nothing to do with defending Kickstarter, you mongoloid. If its their rules, what are you gonna do? Sit and cry about it? Grown up.
Epic has enough money to fund the industry, why not just let it run on auto-pilot with Epic paying for "lost sales" and the end-consumer just pirating every game?
>Kickstarter MMO
>3D MMO for less than $100M
i know very little about computer, but I doubt even with offsite funding they would of have had a game anyway
How the fuck did they expect to dethrone GTAV? Just making the map would cost a 10x more than what they were asking for.
Name one good game that was funded via kickstarter
Pro tip you can't
shovel knight
FUCK STAR CITIZEN DEVELOPERS THEY SHOULD HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FILED AGAINST THEM
FTL
I'm not denying that, but it's still dumb
point out where in that statement they explicitly state the rule that they had broken and in what way with the exact words, it's like fucking divination it's made to fit whatever they want it to fit
>mfw so many years and goons are STILL seething
They already got law suits filed against them. They still are in court limbo.
inorrect.
>e3 sony conference
>show a trailer for shenmue 3
>"it'll only exist if you pay for it on kickstarter"
>reaches more than the goal even before the conference is over
>e3 ends
>ask kickstarter people if they want a steam, xbone or ps4 key
>they find a new private investor
>time passes
>release 1 and 2 again
>time passes
>epic starts with their store and exclusivity shit
>make a steam page for shenmue 3
>epic suddenly snoops it up and makes it an epic exclusive
>shenmue team says no refunds
>epic says we'll refund if you want
>shenmue team says no one who kickstartered it will get any of the dlc nor limited edition launch stuff
I don't mind them enforcing this rule, but there are literally dozens of high-profile games that have Kickstarter funding in addition to outside funding. So I highly doubt that's the real reason they went after this particular game.
Undertale
>set a financial amount you should make it for that amount.
almost every funded Kickstarter MMO needed outside funds to even start working on the game.
Ashes of Creation got funded for $3 million but the devs had to raise an additional $30 million.
People 20 years ago did it with much, much less, both in sense of funding and data sharing.
Game development does not require a studio in California nor do you need a 400 people big team.
Undertale
gb2SA you disgusting goon tranny
You know, I gave to the Muv Luv kickstarter because I wanted a physical copy for my Vita. A friend of mine endlessly mocked me for that, said that they'd steal my money and that I should give to the Shemue kickstarter instead.
No the guy doesn't even wanna talk about it, and he gets upset if you bring up Shenmue or kickstarter. Meanwhile my physical copy is on the shelf.
Bloodstained, you retarded frognigger
Divinity
Thank christ, Cancer like that needs to be eradicated. Along with GTAO
Kentucky Route Zero
Literal who games, Indie tripe
typical snoyboys, sony is to blame about this as well
FTL
We have APB which failed, why would we need this then?
Just one?
>Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2
>Shovel Knight
>Hollow Knight
>Darkest Dungeon
>A Hat in Time
>Undertale
>Kingdom Come: Deliverance
>Bloodstained
>Battletech
>Shadowrun Returns & Hong Kong
>The Bane Saga
>Shantae Half-Genie Hero
>Wasteland 2
>Pillars of Eternity
>Stop liking what I don't like.
Fucking infantile mongrel.
This. Nearly every kickstarter for a game is nothing more than an interest gauger. The whole point is to show there is a demand. Then when it is met, a publisher steps in and covers the rest of the cost.
However, looking into this one, this wouldn't be feasible with their team, even with publisher backing. I also don't see anyone with some real industry clout, so it would be hard to get a publisher on board in the first place.
Foundation.
what about these?
Shut the fuck up you stupid dumb Somali animal. The fact that you disgusting faggots dump a thousand dollars on an alpha to get a pay 2 win ship is absolutely pathetic. Disgusting trash.
...What? How does this apply to my post? Both kickstarters were for Sony games
This is such a "babby first ideas guy" game, I saw it failing the second I heard the concept.
>It's SUPER DUPER BIG MMO
>super realistic, too!
>like GTA Online but BETTER
>you
>can
>do
>ANYTHING!
Freedom planet
>This is exactly the same as the game stolen retards
Boot licks confirmed schizophrenic.
Where have I seen this before?....
>semantics
In what world is it semantics to present your project and say this is everything you need to get going and then halfway through say "This won't be enough. We're going somewhere else to get more".
The point of kickstarter is to raise the money you need. Not to raise a portion of it and fuck your customers because you couldn't find the rest.
Their MMO was never going to be a success with their small budget and only 3 people working on the game.
>Game development does not require a studio in California nor do you need a 400 people big team.
this so fucking much
sure when you're talking about other genres, but this is a modern MMO. you need big money and big teams, hence why the most popular ones today are often funded by some of the biggest publishers in the world (activision, square enix, tencent, etc)
You fags killed GTA, I'd kill you if i could
they were dumb for only asking that little, should have asked for way more. people would have donated anyway, people are like bees to honey for these kinds of games.
they didn't say they were backing out on anything with kickstarter, they just wanted to introduce another inlet for funding, there is no real issue with that part from this rule that they have suddenly pulled out of their arse by saying "oh well this is a kickstarter project so that's all it's gonna be" from some umbrella bullshit that really has nothing to do with be dishonest or not fulfilling goals
