Depends what you want. Crystal is a nice comfy adventure where as Emerald has some meaty challenge to it if you don't chuck your master ball at Rayquaza.

Emerald. Pretty much refined the Pokemon formula to the best it was up to that point. And every game since has been worse, so it's still the best. That's not to say Emerald is perfect. There's still plenty of things they could have improved. But Emerald and FR/LG were the most refined Pokemon games.

My fondest memory of emerald was throwing a regular pokeball at a full health rayquaza and catching it on the first try. My cousin and I were so amazed we still bring it up once in a while.

Niether, Platinum, HGSS, and gen 5, and even 6 and 7 are all better.
Pokemon changes so little between games that the only real deciding factor in which games are better ar ethe iterative improvements the games make from gen to gen, for as much shit as XY gets, it's still better then the vast majoirity of the games before it purely on the basis of actually having 6's gen 's worth of improvements

The problem is you fags aren't actually talking about what games are best, you all are talking about which games are the most impressive for their time, which is an entirely distinct metric, and yeah, by that metric, Crystal is a definite contender.
