So what ruined Pokemon for you?

So what ruined Pokemon for you?

For me its the fact that they focused more on the waifus than the Pokemon. This is so blatantly obvious with the next gen. There's more fanart for Bea than there is for any Pokemon. And why shouldn't there be? There's certainly more effort put into her design as opposed to the most lazy rabbit design ever. The pokemon franchise has ALWAYS been a waifu factory but its never shadowed the quality of the actual pokemon themselves. I feel like the next gen is when that all changes.

XY onward became too beginner friendly and had less content.

>So what ruined Pokemon for you?
I no longer were their target audience.

Sun and Moon is when they went FULL BLOWN fan service with the waifus and didn't even hide it, but at least the new pokemon were good.

The shitty turn based gameplay that hasn't changed in over 20 years.

Attached: XVAvPD9.png (800x479, 551K)

turn based combat is an obsolete relic that was only used due to hardware limitations

it should never be in a game released this decade

Attached: 1292736004358.png (495x498, 327K)

>The shitty turn based gameplay that hasn't changed in over 20 years
IMO, this is what shouldn't change. The XY gen was when the mechanic was perfected with the inclusion of fairy types and mega evolutions. They're fucking it up with the dynamax which is just an excuse for not designing new megas.

It got boring as fuck so i stopped caring after platinum

Not really sure why you guys still play them.

repetition

When I realized just how much shit they cut out just to resell some of it later down the line
It kills me that the best chance of ever playing a Pokemon game that tries to use it's full potential basically relies on ROM hacks, and hoping that TPC doesn't give those the axe

Attached: 1562723154195.jpg (5049x2394, 3.82M)

>For me its the fact that they focused more on the waifus than the Pokemon
>character appears like twice and has maybe four lines of dialogue

Wow what a focus.

Because nobody really gives a shit about the Pokemon themselves
As hardware evolved and games became more complex, more focus on characters and story became the norm.

What is more memorable?
Lillie or this fucking garbage?

A good majority of people these days play Pokemon for the story and the colorful characters, not to "catch em all" and become a smogon autismo.

Attached: 1200px-779Bruxish.png (1200x1200, 391K)

The fact that they are still use that oversimplified combat from Gen 1. That was OK when it was an old gameboy with massive technical limitation, but why the fuck didn't they make combat more interesting. I know there is limit to what you can do with turn-based-shit, but after playing FF-Exvius I realized how bottom of the barrel pokemon turn-combat was.
Fuck, even hearthstone is more interesting.

>for the story and the colorful characters
and it's a shame cause they're always half-baked

Attached: Omega_Ruby_Alpha_Sapphire_Zinnia.png (796x1280, 572K)

I actually like the turn-based combat and the competitive side of the game.
But by the time gen 5 released it was sadly obvious that Game Freak would never put any effort into balancing the game for the few idiots that play it competitively and would only keep catering the game to 5 year olds.

The transition to 3D kill it, the models are all lifeless and barely even move anyway, its not that a pokemon game with 3d pokemon can't work, its that gamefreak can't be asked to be good at their jobs

Attached: 1493602850207.jpg (333x500, 76K)

>chess is obsolete
Retards

Once you get off of Yea Forums you'll realize that most people are normal and focus on the Pokemon. I really like Grookey and Corviknight but I'm still on the fence about buying this game

>So what ruined Pokemon for you?
Transition to 3D, which Game Freak clearly can't handle

The series peaked in Gold/Silver so I lost interest.

Increasing amount of cutscenes and railroading. I think I first started to notice in Gen V, tolerated it up through Gen VI, but Sun/Moon was my breaking point. I played for like 2 or 3 hours and I don't think I ever had control than 5 minutes at a time without running into Lillie or the professor or that annoying kid starting up another cutscene, and it took like 20 minutes just to get to the starter choice.

I don't mind anything else that had happened to Pokemon besides this though personally I wish the stories would stop involving the legendaries and world-ending plots so much, I prefer Gen I and Gen II's simplicity, although the recent cut of National Dex is pretty fucking bad to me too.

Attached: 1525454843550.webm (840x720, 2.92M)

Gen VI and part of VII had stories that were legendary-less.

Waifushit and knowing that they could do so much more with the games by putting a lot of content in them but they won't. They make them as bare-bones as possible.

...

>who’s more memorable a main character who the story centers around completely or this completely optional pokémon that’s only used by one noteworthy trainer in the game?
that hardly seems fair. Who’s more memorable Giovanni or Seel? Who’s more memorable Barry or fucking Finneon

Ash

When they started doing this

Attached: image.jpg (1730x7521, 1.21M)

Last game I got was Sun and I was so disappointed by it that I didn't bother getting Ultra Sun. Got Crystal on Virtual Console instead.

I wasn't considering getting Sword until I heard the new region is based on the UK which peaked my interest because I'm British, but then I found out about the Dex cuts and how much else they were cutting and I went "nah mate, you lost me".

I legitimately saw more talk about the human characters on Twitter at least, even without the "controversy"

>i got a worse game
Amazing.

I had Gold and Silver as a kid but I never had Crystal.

I can smell the breast milk in your mouth from here. Grow up and come back after that.

National Dex is gone for no reason other than being lazy and I won't support the franchise until it comes back in fuller force

super incorrect take

The fact that after a certain period certain pokemon were able to learn moves that were wildly different from their type and that fucked up the meta and the whole strength/weakness system overall. The moment I found out that emboar could learn scald I was worried.

Couldn't for the life of me put a name to Barry without you bringing it up

can name all the pokemon, tho

I grew up.

I realize this is bait but it's so fucking infuriating people actually think this
Shit like
>mine
>voltorb
boggles my goddamn mind
a lot of things explode, that doesn't mean voltorb is based off of them

Second post wisest post.
I can still play gens 1-3 and enjoy them out of pure nostalgia, but it's clear these games are not made for me anymore.

There is a Pokemon like the ones on the left in gen 6 but everyone shits on her.

slower gameplay, too much tutorial crap, and I really disliked the cutscenes

Attached: Jaguar.jpg (901x720, 95K)

you're fucking retarded, shit like this has been in the games since the beginning like nidoking getting blizzard or bubblebeam

really?

This is correct, but poorly expressed.

All normalfags who played the first ~3 gens dislike the later character designs. They look so generic and sterile, like they could have come from some other gay series like Megaman or Transformers or some shit.

Attached: IMG_0824.jpg (550x617, 50K)

You're implying there's any difference between 2 through 8.

i guess that’s fair considering his name is up to you. but that’s a little rude to my favorite rival.

Attached: C8602207-8EE2-405B-BF3D-A0649B65FB2E.png (1200x2160, 1.1M)

snorlax isn’t a bear.

The culling. I don't mind waifu's as long as the new Pokemon kept rolling out.

I had reached my limit after Gen 5. Honestly it felt like I was done with the standard Pokémon League formula. I wanted them to push their limits after that, at the very least introduce standard QoL stuff like more save files, difficulty options, and faster battles that don't feel the need to display text THEN play an animation.

I remember feeling very weirded out by how the friend characters treated you in Gen 6. It felt very condescending. I was also exhausted with gym formula and boss move sets kept getting worse. I was no longer getting taken by surprise. They really need to drop the type specialist thing, at least after the first three gyms. I was kind of charmed by the totems in Gen 7 but the trials and areas that lead up to them really fucking sucked.

There are a lot of things that kept piling up. Obvious improvements being withheld for later releases being among them, along with discarding or failing to expand upon good ideas from the past. Balancing around doubles play but never using it in the main adventure. A total lack of trust in the player. Railroading through cramped areas. Masuda's haphazard excuses, corporate PR speak, and outright lies. Stranger still were the excuses fans came up with. I never see this level of forced positivity for other Nintendo shit, even from Smashfags and their Sakurai cult. "XY is their first 3D game! ORAS only drew from RS! They needed to rush SM to get a generation out before the 3DS lifespan was over! USUM is just a buffer game before they go to Switch! LGPE is just a test run!" Eventually you need to realize that GameFreak is made up of shrewd businessmen out to make big profits with minimal budget.

Even this National Dex shit is just a means of withholding content they can easily implement in future entries in order to sell you on them. Now instead of a new mechanic or new area they can slap their pre-made Furret assets in there and dipshits will react with "Oh shit, Furret's back, bros!"

X/Y just being really boring ruined the series for me.

Gary Oak was the only good rival and what every rival should strife to be, unlike all the cucked shit that came after him

The games arent challenging when I got older I realize people like it for the brand pokemon and the games got annoying to play. Gens 1-3 were good games. Starting 4th gen and after it didnt excite me as much and got annoyed less pokemon were being made

Gamefreak sticking with their stagnant, aging formula for every game while offering a less compelling adventure with each generation. It's still the same game it's ever been, but now with less to do. All the 3DS games I picked up on launch, beat them in all in 2 days tops, but most in a day, then I put them down and never return to them nor do I have an intention to. They are so standardized and by the numbers just to get a product on the shelf.

The lack of ability to make more interesting spin offs that aren't just the same exact starting shit every time that leads to a post game I have no interest in
In a Mario game or some other game with progress. I can deal with an easy first world that maybe gives me a few text bubbles of tutorials if its something I already know, that takes a few minutes tops
In Pokemon EVERY generation is the same slow crawl to the end
The entire games set of features take at least 2-4 gyms to usually open up and after Gen 5 especially most of the worlds were just trash
If they want the main games to remain as the same easy access song and dance they've done the last 20 years to keep it as all ages as possible, fine, keep it, it makes money, i get it but, at least try for some more ambitious spin offs like Colosseum again or something more
Look at SMT, there's like a dozen SMT spin offs, they don't always appeal to everyone but I guarantee you that if you like RPGs and roll through the library of all SMT spin offs, you'll probably find at least one you like.
For me it was Devil Survivor and Persona. Kind of liked DDS but the rest never really appealed to me.
But still, that's the point. I don't have to point at SMT the base series and say "wow this sucks I wish there was a cool tactics rpg like this or I wish this took place in a modern high school setting with some dungeon crawl aspects" because SMT takes those types of risks all the time
And Pokemon, with how big the series is, could take even more risks
But, they won't/haven't yet and I'm just tired of the series
Fav gens were 2,3 and 5

How slow S/M got, and the fact that the series somehow got WORSE even after BW2, which was a fantastic game, even if it didn't keep features that prior games had.

Bottom line, I'm just mad that they keep changing somehow and somehow also NOT changing.

Attached: 1549500560337.png (634x483, 341K)

I grow up.

Hand-holding
Lack of Post game content
No extra content cause GF realized people are so retarded and they are gonna buy their shit no matter how trash it is

decreasing post-game after hg/ss. they perfected the 2D style with bw once they went 3D, it lost a lot of charm

>Blue was the only good rival
c’mon now. i like Blue but c’mon now.

>fairy types
>megas
>perfected gameplay

>already sick of the series by X and Y
>like a few of the tiny features in that game like outfits and other stuff
>see Gen 3, one of my favs, get announced for X and Y engine remake
>remember how both FRLG/HGSS both utilized all the tech from their respective gens game engines to make a really fun pair of remakes
>ORAS some how has less functionality and features than X and Y
>no outfits
>has even less features than the original game release/cut content
I think this was also what killed it for me. I need to get around to BW2

This is exactly what happened to me user. Hopefully someday they'll go back to their roots, but I doubt it.

Even the cucked shit is better than Blue. Gary Oak is anime only shit, not that i would expect one with such a shit opinion to know.

having it constantly posted outside it's containment board

Gen 3 removing Gen 2 features.

Never cared about Pokémon afterwards.

oh man the lack of an electric pokemon dungeon really kills the game yes

Yeah, I hear Eevee and Pikachu were fun for another nostalgia trip but i just haven't gotten around to them
I don't know. I think all the criticisms toward SW are super valid. Don't go harassing game devs on Twitter but still, don't tell people to not be dissatisfied with a product.

Moving to 3-D models. It was good for games like stadium but in mainline games it killed the soul. Just like 2-D Disney movies getting remade in 3-D

Gotta catch'em all its no more

chess is strategy, not digital, and you don't have to trawl through menus

FPBP. In regards to Sword and Shield, it's abundantly clear how incompetent Gamefreak is. I'd love to see the mainline series get handed off to another developer just to see if there's any hope of it recovering.

Attached: BW045.png (1280x720, 1014K)

I too love non arguments.

It can't be "FPBP" because BW1 did what he mentioned.

is your containment board, Pokekids.
Please put up a fucking sticky, mods. This is insane.

>3D models lack detail and the movements are lifeless

This. Even the trainer card star requirements show this.

Before you were encouraged to actually do shit to get them. Now it's just
>Beat game
>Have Dex
>Slap Battle Tower reskin.

Hopefully we'll get some awesome post game Max Raids or even more Max Raids via updates, but I highly doubt either of them.

Stadium is literally a side game from 20 fucking years ago for and it still had more detail than whatever 3d mainline game we had, that's fucking bad, its an argument, fuck you

Attached: 1460796535561.jpg (242x251, 4K)

I stopped after Gen 5. BW/B2W2 got on my nerves because they focused on railroading players with shitty stories and removing options for people to skip non-essential mechanics. When Gen 6 was revealed, it looked like it had the same problems as Gen 5 but with even more railroading and even more shitty gimmicks like Sky Battles and Mega Evolutions, so I didn't bother. It was a good decision on my part because from what I've seen the 3DS era is everything I hated about Gen 5 but multiplied.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 35K)

Sure thing dude.

I played Stadium 1/2, Yellow, Red, and Ruby Red. Later in life I was gifted a 3ds and Pokemon White. I did not make it through. Then I was gifted Pokemon Sun. I did not bother reaching the first gym. Then pokemon X or Y, i forget.

To me the magic in the games was in them giving you a world and an adventure- your adventure through a coming of age story. The new games entirely miss the mark and rather than letting you out into the world to go solve problems, catch Pokemon and generally read text very seldomly as it appears during a puzzle, before a duel, or to very rarely provide exposition they have you on an extremely tight railroad with narrative thrown in your face for minutes at a time a couple of times per area and have hand holding characters that it feels like you are accompanying on their journey in their story. I initially figured "alright, this is a piss easy game by now but I can install a ROMhack that makes it harder" for Sun, but then for every pokemon battle in my Pokemon game there were pages of mediocre FORCED dialogue that you cannot skip. Cutscenes will end for you to walk 3 steps towards the exit only for another to begin. I wish I had not played any of the ones I was gifted as they are completely devoid of what made the memory of the old ones so great- not having a plot.

The removal of megas. Pokemon was perfect in its current state until gen 8 happened. Fortunately, I can stay in Alola forever with my 2 favorite girls.

Its just terrible.

OR/AS is my favourite pokemon game but it still has flaws. It just has LESS flaws than any other game.
Gamefreak is deathly afraid of imrpoving themselves for some reason. Around sun/moon I got tired of their bullshit. I bought US/UM and once I finished I decided enough was enough.
I don't have a switch and see no reason to get one.

This. I don't understand why people thought that buying XY was a good idea. Nearly everything about Gen 6 looked terrible.

Attached: 1387739319666.jpg (417x438, 11K)

>OR/AS
>It just has LESS flaws than any other game
ORASfags always lie.

>3D models lack detail and the movements are lifeless
But that is Stadium, user.

100% gameplay 100% of the time. No story, no grind, no trainer designs, just their lineups. It was my first and still my favorite game of the series. I wish they would make some money off of how popular online dueling on PC is and make a new Stadium game with matchmaking.

You liked ORAS which was a downgrade as a remake, and you still bought both SM and USUM.

You literally fueled Gamefreak's incompetence by buying their worse titles, and yet you want to act like not buying Sword/Sheild is sticking it to them? Fuck off, dude.

Attached: 1394718923099.jpg (765x776, 59K)

Game Freak is literally retarded, their studio still has less than 150 people working their despite them making billions off of the Pokemon franchise.
Their profit margin is unheard of and they do nothing to invest in their studio, honestly one can only wonder what they do with all that money instead of trying to make a better game.

>OR/AS is my favourite pokemon game but it still has flaws. It just has LESS flaws than any other game

You ORAS fans always like to spew bullshit in order to defend those games. Unlike ORAS, there were plenty of other pokemon games that have consistent framerates, decent difficulty curves, don't have loads of forced story segments and tutorials, plenty of optional maingame/postgame side content, and don't hand you overpowered pokemon for free.

>N64 game with limited assets and animations
>Current year game with a fuckhuge studio who by now know they're working on a moneyprinter you stupid motherfuckers will eat up alongside the target audience difficulty is adjusted for
>The quality is comparable
Pathetic. People should expect more of a newer game.

...

BW1 had as much content as any beginning gen that came before it

Ruby Red was my favorite title next to Stadium and Omega Ruby was gifted to me in hopes I'd get back into it as a grown ass man. They may as well sold me a woodchipper reserved exclusively for future Pokemon titles instead. It was a desecrated corpse raised from the dead and given a coat of fresh paint and glitter. Fuck you.

I wish the games were more difficult

Can we get more 6vs6 battles in the series? I lowkey want a pokemon anime style battle tournament where you fight against other trainers with in different situation/environments to test yourself. Before becoming the winner and moving onto the Elite 4.

>But what is victory road?
Just give us something more dynamic rather than another route with trainers

>have to specify "beginning" to make the actual argument
Pathetic.

When I got past the age of 12 and started playing games with interesting stories.

"Ruby Red" doesn't exist and OR is the exact same game as Ruby with 1 less dungeon.

It also had piss easy encounters when I played Black and enough forced dialogue and one-way progression to get through in order to branch out or have the same goals envisioned for your current playthrough through enough options being opened and available much later than in earlier gen games. How about the apocalypse-tier plot and "the game gets good/hard after 10 hours' effect where 'hard' is relative and usually is blown out of proportion to present the false pretense of a challenging game.

Why wouldn't I compare the start of a generation to the start of other generations?

>introduce fun and interesting mechanics
>remove them in the next 3 versions
Also them never taking advantage of team battles and the games becoming more story-oriented. That PokeStar Studios in Black 2 and White 2 was so friggin bad I just stopped caring about them. Also the fact they went 3D.

Attached: 1563043773179.png (268x341, 3K)

No it's not. One ran well and was original, another is a dug up version of another they put a fresh coat of paint on to get poketards excited about the usual tactic of trying to get you to start buying the same game twice and seeing how many times they can trick you after that.

Sounds just like gen 3 and 4.
Gen 3 and 4 are just as linear, but since it isn't a "circle" it's okay in your book.

Because then you confirm the points in the FPBP post as untrue.

Yeah man, those 3D models are lifeless. When can we go back to pngs with 3 frames of animation? That was SOUL * opens another crate of basedmilk and opens pokemon crystal rom on smartphone*

Attached: greninja-ash.gif (82x90, 154K)

Sure thing, but it doesn't change them being the same exact game.

The original is horribly dated. A lot has changed since gen 3, old man, and all of the changes were for the best. ORAS is the definitive Hoenn experience.

The formula started to feel not just stale, but... Plastic. Like every single aspect of Pokemon was made for market purposes rather than anything actually creative. Like every aspect of it was engineered to appeal to as many people as possible. It's hard to explain, but it no longer feels like an actual adventure, the railroading and "HEY DO THIS ISN'T IT COOL" attitude making it almost feel like a theme park where you're corralled into one attraction and setpiece after another by a bunch of increasingly shitty, annoying supporting characters that insist you follow the tired, by the numbers plot that seems to be recycled nonstop.

Also waifushit. The over-emphasis on cute girls, as good as they are, is a sign that they know Pokemon can't stand on its' own and has to rely on the horny imaginations of degenerates to prop itself up more under its' own immense weight.

The fucking borderline religious zealot attitude a lot of fans have doesn't help either. "You'll buy it anyways" seems like it's quickly becoming the #1 buzzword of Pokemon, and the way people defend increasingly broken, stupid things is nothing short of fanaticism. They literally cannot see their sacred cow, their saint, do anything wrong.

Attached: DeMK6hfV4AAqdy7.jpg orig.jpg (894x1024, 126K)

>Yeah, this is shit, but what about-
No

>definite hoenn experience

youtube.com/watch?v=kFC6mDKF-0c

You do realize that you're confirming that the series was always soulless and lifeless and that you're asking for nothing?

>Also waifushit. The over-emphasis on cute girls,
Showing a character on a trailer, a character that says 10 lines tops in the game and then fucks off forever is not "over-emphasis", your argument is fucking retarded. Not mentioning that saying that while posting a Digimon picture is hilarious.

I needed a picture to convey my overwhelming despair and that was the one I had on hand, sorry.

Attached: 1555213765931.png (500x486, 57K)

Sun and Moon, the long unskippable cutscenes, the 15 minute wait before you can get your starter along with the first 2 hours+ being tutorial shit.

this

>yugioh anime protagonist
>is a chad who can conquer even the toughest of challenges

>Pokémon anime protagonist
>is completely unremarkable, gets ass kicked more often than not

Why?

Gen 2 had horrendous designs. Gen 3 was better, going back to more defined designes, then Gen 4 started with the overdesigned nonsense shit.

based and zoomerpilled

3rd gen.
They actually slowed the entire gameplay down by about 50% just to make it "longer" and kept it up.

Pokemon gen 1 and 2? Fast paced compared to the "LET US WALK AT HALF THE SPEED NOW"

The modern games are so underwhelming.
Pre gen 6 games felt like epics that you could revisit over and over, with tons of stuff to do.
Nowadays the games are very straightforward with little post game. The only thing to really do is fight online.

>he didnt hold b

USUM objectively have the most content. Stop being a biased retard and actually play the games you shit on, maybe you'll actually enjoy them instead of being a hatetrain sheep.

None of the "start of gen" games you mentioned are anything like that. Dumb post.

Let's be honest here, if you're older than 27, your interest in Pokemon really shouldn't have gone beyond Gen 3 or Gen 4, now you're feeling like a bitter old man who wants things to go back to the way they were but unfortunately for you, they won't. It's time to go back to Viridian City

youtube.com/watch?v=fOsdy1ZsXUs

>USUM objectively have the most content.
lol

I just got bored of Pokemon.

gen 5

I played gens 1-3 then stopped because I didn't want to invest in a DS and still had tons of GBA games to play. Fast forward several years and I decided to grab a 3DS and start investing in a DS/3DS library. Played both S/M and US.

Hand-holding, constant cutscenes, and go here/go there.
Just want to have Pokemon adventure but feel like I'm getting dragged around by the game.
However like the improvements in breeding and EVing since now I can just check in during the morning and evening to build my teams.
Finally figured out the battle tree and can hit 100+ easily. Nothing really to do since I don't wanna battle online. Guess I'll just keep breeding. I miss the battle frontier.

this thing pretty much, I'm not even going to bother with the games now. I do like Alcremie (non-giant one) and Duraludon though, I might get a plushie of the cream.
I was the biggest shiteater of the games around until this mess, I even enjoyed Gen 7 and ORAS which I generally understand to be poorly received in the fanbase.

Attached: Pokemon Prison.jpg (680x383, 34K)

>if i don't like it it doesn't count lmao

Sun and Moon had this problem too
It had garbage content and cutscenes out the ass so they decided to put a ton of waifus in and the slobbering braindead retards got distracted by the waifus rather than get angry at the game's multiple numerous flaws

Waifuservice is not a downside for me, but I regret they went full casual and lowered difficulty

Attached: peedofiled.jpg (1907x648, 150K)

It just doesn't feel like an adventure anymore. The games are too linear and there's too many roadblocks. It autistically follows the formula of having a rival, evil team, and gimmick that each game feels predictable.
Pokemon is a game that needs as little story as possible. It should just be about kids traveling through the region with their bros, doing what they want. These days I think Pokemon antagonists peaked with Team Rocket because they were just a mafia and they didn't interrupt the player much. I'm not even being a KANNNTOOOOOfag, very other team feels dumb because they keep fucking with your progress. Why does EVERY region need their own unique evil organization with Team in their name? Pokemon needs to break away from the formula.
I'm not shilling but if you haven't already done so you should play Pokemon Crystal Clear. It is not perfect and has many problems but it was the best pokemon experience I have had in a while. This is the ideal pokemon game. Just make a region with minimal roadblocks and story. Put in lots of features and prioritize replayability and freedom. Try to capture what made the anime work so well. I guarentee it will be the best pokemon game in a long time.

It genuinely makes me mad that SHSW would have been the perfect time to change up the formula, considering the jump to a home console + both zelda and mario also doing it
Instead they make SuMo HD
Fucking retards

>fairies

I like Pokémon
I hate greedy TPC and GF doing stupid shit.

>says while posting a game more difficult than 80% of the series

When they got rid of the battle frontier for me, and replaced it with the shitty battle tower.

they've been doing this for years alongside making good games.
they aren't mutually exclusive but obviously the waifus are getting way more development time now

when it first came into existence

>nobody really gives a shit about the Pokemon themselves
everybody gives a shit besides the developers, thats the whole problem

>X & Y
>what if we give pokemon a temporary extra evolutionary stage that can be activated once per battle?

>Sun & Moon
>What if we make regional variants of pokemon with different types and stats, and also a special item to power up a move once per battle?

>Sword & Shield
>what if we make em really big lol also you cant have all the pokemon you've caught in previous games and can't do any of the cool shit listed above cause fuck you, we're busy with Town (working title) we don't have time for this shit

Diamond and Pearl
Got tired of catching the same fucking pokemon every game

>Obvious improvements being withheld for later releases being among them, along with discarding or failing to expand upon good ideas from the past. Balancing around doubles play but never using it in the main adventure. A total lack of trust in the player. Railroading through cramped areas. Masuda's haphazard excuses, corporate PR speak, and outright lies.
these are my top issues and they will never be fixed

What ruined Pokemon is that they basically nailed the formula on the first try, with Gold and Silver simply being the game where they polished up some of the rough spots.

Nowhere left to go after that.

>For me its the fact that they focused more on the waifus than the Pokemon.
This almost reads like ACfag.

ORAS is a great game but mostly because its based on a good region.
soaring and the pokenav will probably never be bested though

Peeling away content while asking for more money. I excused it in XY because the jump to 3D and the future proofed models really felt like they were trying to set up a game as a base moving forward, like gen 4 with DP. Instead its been two steps forward, two or more steps back every game. Home sounds like a shittier bank where I cant send my stuff back, and I'm expected to pay for that and online and more expensive Pokemon games. It shouldn't be this hard to just build on what you've done.

It just doesn't work for me anymore. In older games, gens 1-3, the pokemon have horrible, genuinely bad movepools so you're incentivized to keep going to the same old ones, while gen 6-7 are ugly to look at and a pain to play.
I can only play gens 4 and 5 so many times.

holy shit this is hilarious but also very sad

Series is not fun anymore because they don't give a shit about people who usually have more than 100 hours of playtime and want content worth playing outside of the story and competitive.

It all started with XY for me. I personally enjoyed ORAS, but SUMO definitely killed it for me. XY was an interesting change of pace, but the wild battle theme sounded like Sweet Bro tumbling down those stairs. Friend Safari was also AIDs since most of my friends never actually beat the game. But SUMO's long-winded cutscenes, constant hand-holding, and crappy Trial Captains were a snooze. Granted, the game had some nice nuances, but it wasn't enough to save it from having me skip USUM because it wasn't worth it to play the same game with a slightly different approach.
I hacked my n2DS, so it doesn't matter

le sigh

well said completely agree

>fairies OP
just use physical moves
>water weak to poison
water literally dilutes poison, what's with the "water too skrong" meme?
>M-Kang
already nerfed

Fairy balanced the game by giving poison a strength and dragon a weakness

hey einstein i'm on your side

not the same orangutan but jesus that spinning trick was fucking awesome

For me?
Megas made me lose interest in battling, and nerfing confusion and paralysis was the final nail in the coffin.

You wouldn't give a single shit if Stantler or Luvdisc were absent from SwSh.

>>X & Y
>>what if we have a shitty unbalanced gimmick only for a few select mons?

>>Sun & Moon
>>What if we have another shitty gimmick to further shit up the balance and have le ebin oneshot moves?

>>Sword & Shield
>>what if we get rid of all those pointless gimmicks and add something meaningful that all Pokemon can reliably use?

>and it took like 20 minutes just to get to the starter choice.
And here I was testing my romhack earlier thinking FireRed took a while to get going jesus

It started going downhill for me at gen 3 desu and I dropped all interest at 4. I picked up a little interest again at X&Y but by then I didnt know even half of the pokemon or characters/new mechanics. It's clear to me now that it's a low effort kids series, nothing more.

i love stantler you shithead apologist.
also fishing for luvdiscs and thieving their heart scales was always a nice touch of world building

I think it came in stages. First thing to happen was that it became too annoying to have all Pokemon, this was the start of Gamefreaks laziness. Masked by the idea of social interaction. Then it became even worse, with things like Poke Park and Friend Safari. Second it was just the fact that the games weren't differeing themselves enough. It was always the same and the poor experience curve meant that you would be grinding on worthless encounters for long periods of time for really no reason, not helped by just how sloppy battle transitions were. Finally, third was when designs for pokemon started to take a dive to the more overly cute and trying too hard in that regard. Instead of having animals that were just cute designs, we instead got things like Swoobat. Even worse when the art styles started clashing together and instead of trying to unify them, just left it alone.

I can deal with waifus. I'm more upset at the handholding. "Do you want to immediately skip to the next plot relevant route?" Not to mention every Trainer being weak as shit and basically dropping to their knees to suck you off every time you do literally anything.

Sums it up perfectly. DS era was the peak and everything after that was just effortless dog shit with no passion put into it.
