Just finished Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter and the OST is just perfect for that game. The guy behind Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story and Ogre Battle did the OST. Lots of synth love in it. Melancholic but with a hint of light just like the game.

Not all change is good and drastically changing the game from what the series used to be is never a good idea, especially when you break core series pillars like wanting people to transform into a dragon (in V, you're actually punished for it).

BoFV is a game made by people that just wanted to do their own thing and designed something "intersting". This is a sign of bad game designers.

That's a long winded way of saying "it's too short and hard." It's got all the series staples, being a dragon is OP as hell with an objectively interesting d-counter mechanic to balance it,young protagonist from humble beginnings meets a girl with wings and goes on an adventure. It's all there but it's not okay because it's small scaled and in a different setting. If you listened to the developers all their reasons made sense, they just didn't account for JRPG fans to be unchanging cavemen. Literally begging for generic titles.
