It's alright. The trials are generally boring, but the investigations and downtime are fun. The first series had REALLY bad art and animation. Season 2 was a little better. Watch it drunk and skip the court segments.

It's best taken as extra material to the game series, not taken as a good adaptation per se. If that sounds like damning with faint praise, it kinda is - but I think it's worth watching at least the anime-only episodes for some pretty damn good character stories and neat cases. Particularly the one where you see how the von Karma household worked was pretty illuminating.

It also kind of stays on the same quality throughout - which means the very best cases get worse and less impactful, but also means that cases like the circus or steel samurai cases actually get pretty good.

Athena game with the assistant role switching between Phoenix and Trucy. Make the final case be a double trial or something where Athena & Trucy are handling one and Phoenix is handling the other on his own. New prosecutor for Athena (bring Blackquill back for at least one case and as a supporting character in general though) and Franziska for Phoenix. Also incorporate a penalty for fucking up with Mood Matrix, and also just use it more sparingly in general so that it always feels meaningful when used and not just like a forced gimmick.

DLC case can be Apollo, Rayfa and Nahyuta visiting Kurain Village and something going down there. Phoenix, Athena and co just play background or witness roles in this case.

JFA turned out pretty well considering he was forced to make it in a couple of months right after the first game. The circus case, while not being exactly good, wasn't as terrible as people meme it out to be. Final case is still regarded as one of the best cases in the series.

Honestly, who cares? The games were made with DS pixel art and the 240p screen of the 3DS in mind. You'd be wasting your time waiting for a remaster when the original versions of the games are still great and how they were originally meant to be played.

The second trilogy was already remastered in HD for mobile phones, tho you can use an android emulator if you wanna play them on PC. The second investigations game was never released outside of Japan, but there is a fan translation. Many people say that AAI2 is one of the best game in the series, though I think the reason for that is that it's the only game without filler cases so you constantly get story after story. My personal favorite is DGS (the one set in the past). I doubt it will ever be ported, but you can play it using an Android emulator for that HD experience.

AA7 should take place in Europe. Basically every major character has visited Europe at one point in their life, hell it's where Phoenix and Athena met and that could make for a good flashback case. Hell we already have the country of Borginia set up in the story, use that to conclude the Thalassa situation with Apollo and Trucy in the final case. Oh and maybe tone it down from a legal revolution thing though, give it more of a comfy vacation vibe.

You may not think it, but the normal cases are were most of the AA charm lies. The minuscule scale of cases like 1-3, 3-2, and even 5-3 deal with local, minuscule issues that put more focus on the people involved with the case rather than something ridiculous like the more recent AA titles. DD has you dealing with restoring the nation's court system and SoJ involves overthrowing a fucking foreign government's tyranny. While not every self contained case is great and I agree 1-3 isn't too special (and of course there's 2-3 which has a god awful first day), they seem to of been lost in more recent AA games like SoJ or AAI2, even DD had one with 5-3.

Yes, that's obvious. Like wow, if you change the entire case of 1-1 but keep Larry and Mia there it also still functions. What if we have Mia be murdered by an evil politician in a theme park instead in 1-2? You're making an incredible non-point. It has enormous relevance to the main characters, you can't pick-and-choose.

Note, too, that 1-3 introduces a bunch of things that are important to establish: the justifiable murder, the fact that Phoenix now takes cases that don't have personal relevance too, and the Steel Samurai.

She's made to be the perfect foil for Phoenix, who bounces off him and he can banter with. Trucy was the same for Apollo (they kind of have an opposite relationship where Apollo's more fired up and Trucy's the sarcastic one) and Athena and Blackquill (where Athena gets bullied hard but that gains her confidence) and Edgeworth and Gumshoe (where Edgeworth's intelligent but socially awkward, and Gumshoe is socially amazing but not that smart).

Sometimes having different people team up is fun too, but the main duos never really get beaten.

It didn't succeed in hooking me in as much as the cases which involved "main characters". I was definitely hooked in, sure, but less so than the others.
The entire case of 1-1 depends on Larry ya dunce. You can't swap out the defendant without changing the entire wider plot thread. Meanwhile, 1-3 could have been anything else; you just need Edgeworth to chime in at the end.
If I had to guess, I'd say you know I'm right, but the spirit of justice lighting its flame under your buttocks prevents you from acknowledging my superiority.

Death penalty applies to everyone who intentionally commit murder. So most AA culprits have recived the death penalty with a few exceptions: Sawhit, Acro, Vasquez, maybe Alita. And that one bitch in SoJ case 3 who killed her son and gets to run free. Still, she wasn’t trying to kill her son so she probably wouldn’t get the death penalty regardless

Some of these "contradictions" are p bullshit. I'm playing through 2-2 rn and one of the gotchas is that a witness knew the Channeling Chamber only had one person in it despite claiming to be asleep at the time. But she also said she went to the Channeling Chamber after she was woken up. And she also could have literally just found out from talking to the person in the chamber in the two days she'd been living there since the murder.
