Honestly, it's worth $20 even with the DLC. It's not even half the game we were supposed to get under Nomura's direction, which would have been at least more mechanically interestinng (though who's to say it'll be better or worse with the original Nojima writing?).

Rushed story, to the point it's almost non-existent. Lots of the deleted/cut scenes that are on YouTube imply a much better story than the one we got. The combat was nothing like traditional Final Fantasy games. Even FFXIII had ATB. I had some hype for this game after seeing Kingsglaive, but that movie was the only good thing to come out of the FFXV universe. In the movie, the Ring of the Lucii is implied to have shittons of power. In-game, Noct unceremoniously puts it on in a fucking warehouse, and afterwards has to run and hide from zombies. The writers forgot about the villains/characters they were setting up, only to suddenly throw them in during chapter 13 as half-baked boss battles. It's so painfully obvious that the dev team ran out of time around chapter 13, but that doesn't excuse the drastically different direction the story already took compared to early footage we saw before release. Everything about it was a goddamn mess. At least the graphics are beautiful, and the main character's an attractive slender shounen.

I get that a lot of people enjoy Nomura's stories and character designs but the man should not be put in a directorial seat ever again, he could be a lead character designer, writer or something like that, but Square Enix should put someone else to take over the reins of his projects.

No, no, not at all. That's the Day 1 patch, I believe. All copies fresh from the disc (if Vanilla) have to be updated by 9GB (lest your game that's incomplete contains even less features than it already does).
