People say this all the time, then a new season starts and people come right back to see all the new stuff. I will admit they did not add much this season so you may have a point if they do not do something major but it's still going to be years before this game dies out.

Five years is pretty solid for an online game that isn't Minecraft, so I'll take it.

Granted if you get wrecked hard in Fortnite, that generally means you're dead and the match is already over. But being able to leave instantly when you hear some prepubescent kid on mic is still a nice option.

those 5 years are only a virtue of it being a free to play shooter. That along with the characterization and economy is what continue to keep TF2 alive and the reason it has survived for over 10 years and will survive until Valve ultimately pulls the plug, Though TF2 was never as popular as Fortnite it still maintains its niche playerbase of roughly 50K players daily due to this. Fortnite however really doesn't have any staying power imho, its just a battle royal game with a few gimmicks like every other battle royal game

I miss S2-S3 Fortnite. I wish it was less bloated, that the meta didn't change every fucking week, that competitivefags didn't exist, and that Epic wasn't a scummy fucking company.

Well Fortnite also has a Creative (i.e. map builder) mode and a PvE mode (which I believe they just made free to play the other day) so it has variety that other battle royale games are sorely lacking.

I was talking about animations like Team Neighborhood or any of StblackSt's videos where there are skits with the traits that valve gave to the mercs over exaggerated. I don't even play Team Fortress 2 anymore but thats the reason why I bring it up as comparison. The characters are fleshed out enough so that its keeps someone who doesn't even play invested in the state of the game

You're right, Save the World was supposed to be the true Fortnite that they'd somehow been working on since 2011 (which explains why it's a zombie game despite the zombie craze being long over) but the moment Battle Royale took off they almost completely dropped STW and put all the work into BR. All they basically ever do is throw in new heroes every so often which are usually either recolors or the BR skins ported over for minimum model work. It's the only game I've ever seen where the free version is actually better than the paid version. I basically only ever play STW for the free V-Bucks that I can then use on BR. I've gotten so many expensive skins without paying a cent.
