Yes, it is a good game. Of course Yea Forumsshits on it like everything else. Lots to do, loads of exploration. Your choices do matter.
Don't know why people say it isn't a rpg because there are loads of rpg elements.
If you play on PC you can mod it and get it looking like this.

You have no room to make your character your own outside of looks and gender. Your entire backstory is laid out for you and there's little in the way of creating your own story in the game.
Plus the SPECIAL system was gutted and the actual storyline itself is retarded and full of plotholes.

There are very few choices in the game, you can't deny that
SPECIAL and perks will always be maxed out if you play for long enough, so planning isn't necessary
