All the truly good characters are white except maybe for a lawful play of Markus. Hank, Connor, Kamski.
Honestly, I loved the game, but the Markus parts are almost unplayble a 3rd time around. The section where you walk around the city trying to find Jericho is pure fucking suffering. Hopefully mods will fix that with the PC release. It's also amazing to me how Connor looks IDENTICAL to his character in real life, but how the girl that plays Kara goes from 10/10 in the game to 4/1 irl, no idea what's going on there.

What do you mean "good"? I did name them, in my original post. Hank, Connor, Kamski, Markus' "dad", the white androids from Jericho, etc. You're just looking for things that aren't there, it's pretty clear that the people with the most characterization and best writing were all white protags.
My only real criticism of Detroit is that there's no ending in which the androids are proven to not be feeling anything, or where it's at least left vague. The "bad" ending where Connor is just replaced and Hank kills himself is just fucking brutal.

But that's because that would invalidate the entire rest of the game. That ending would become canon; that's not something that would only depend on your choices, that's something that would be hard fact regardless. It would ruin the good and the bad endings by even existing. The whole drive of the game is that they DO in fact feel - why would you contradict your own story with a meme ending that ruins the game?

Would it really? I feel it would only add to it. Remember, Connor said androids having feelings isn't real and they only have that as a software failure. For all intents and purposes, they could still be machines underneath all the apparent freedom. Not to mention that even if they experienced themselves as free, there's a question of whether or not they are. Going by modern research with rats, scientists have made them obey controls by putting a chip in their head. Presumably, if you did this to a human, he/she would also act and experience their actions as "free". There's no reason to thin the androids aren't still suffering some kind of software malfunction. The fact that Markus could just go up to any of thme, touch them, and then go 'YOU'RE FREE' as if he just mind-controlled them certainly supports that idea.

I actually played Markus as "intended" up until the part where you raid that broadcast building, then I had him shoot the fleeing guy. After that I played the rest as him getting angrier and more violent, until the end where he saw everyone gunned down around him and got perforated by terminator Conner. Regular robot Jesus Markus storyline might suck, but fuck if that wasn't a pretty fucking kino bad ending. I couldn't save Kara and Alice either. That one made me feel terrible though as I felt like I tried everything and they still just couldn't make it, so I had Kara just give up at the end. Pretty fucking good sad story for a David Cage game.

It's okay for a giggle, but even Detroit is kino compared to Heavy Rain.

If you played Detroit, you might be disappointing. The voice acting is a lot worse, and you'll probably get mad at the ending if you haven't had it spoiled yet. But I'd say it's alright for a playthrough. The autistic detective is also the best character in that one.

I feel like having him be somewhat conflicted about it and autistic buddy-buddy with Hank but still fall back on his programming on the end and be a killer blade runner is just a lot more actiony and even realistic than the robots getting a non-violent revolution and everyone having a happy ending. My only regret is that I couldn't save Hank that time. I wish we could get just a Hank and Connor game. Almost feels like they were a happy accident considering the usual quality of David Cage writing. Either that or someone else worked on the majority of it while he was writing wanky robot jesus.

David Cage was credited in most of his games as the sole writer, but someone else received co-writer credits for Detroit. Take that for what you want. Personally, I think your scenario may not be too far off.

As stupid as it sounds, I hate that the game cuts off immediately after revealing that fact.

The problem with the entire game is that Conner's storyline builds the world and its foundation, while Kara's and Marcus' are just in the world being built by Conner's.

I really wish the game was just a typical police procedural that turns into an overarching conspiracy in regards to Cyberlife. The world building was excellent, and the detective work was really well done, but everything else was cliche, hamfisted and/or just boring.

I agree with you 100%, user. Honestly, the game could've easily turned into some Bladerunner-type shit. You wouldn't even have to cut out Kara and Connor, you could just change it and make them episodic characters. Maybe have Connor reliving their events as he inspects crime scenes. Given what a softie Hank is towards kids, him getting involved with defending Kara and Alice makes perfect sense. And Connor should've had an arc where he finally realizes he's free, but he feels androids have so much unrestrained power, and that he has done so much bad stuff he regrets (getting androids killed, and so on), that he would rather live in the delusion that they aren't free at all and neither is he. There were a lot of places they could've gone with it, and Kamski was a super interesting character that didn't get much use.

Valorie Curry might be one of the prettiest human beings on the planet. It's a shame that the Kara segments turned out this underwhelming.

Both androids' actions are controlled by you and are capable of being antagonistic or protagonistic, but you'd know that if you just played the fucking game, you gigantic baboon.
