Oxide times are gonna make you a LOT better at the game, he'll teach you some neat tricks.

Tropy/Oxide trials are basically a master/apprentice sort of challenge. You learn and try until you beat the master, therefore becoming the master. If you can beat Oxide, you can fare well online.

I've had a few people land on me messing up a drift or jump. Starts of races are pretty silly with the collisions and items.

Earlier today I forgot I didn't have my Switch plugged in and it was at 1% on Twilight Tour, around the second lap. Up to that point I wasn't really putting in my best effort, but when I saw that the console was about to die, I somehow kicked into overdrive and USF'd the entire remainder of the race and ended up in 2nd

I'm thinking the reason Switch updates are being held back is because they really wanted to prioritize getting Boost Mode support in before anything else since the load times were considered such a detriment to getting that version of the game. PS4/Xbox they have no problem pushing quick updates to edit waycist black zems but they know Switch players are expecting a lot more given how many patches they're behind on. The next Switch patch is going to be big.

Today is the day I switch to using the d pad instead of the stick on my pro controller.

I just cant do it bro, it's not in the right position compared to a dualshock, it feels weird.

Conversely I can't see NOT using the D-pad on a dualshock for the same reason.

Good start, it actually gets a bit easier from there because Tropy is a speed character and he basically took all the shortcuts, unlike the original game

there's no way he's not, he's got almost twice as much as second place. But Since I just got moto tawna and I'm in 3165th place, I assume at least the top couple hundred are doing that too.

It's such a massive waste of time, just get 5% tropheis and stop doing challenges once you get to 42k nitro.

Oh shit, I was in that lobby and seeing the Dirt Bike skin with Dingodile's podium animation made me laugh so much that I forgot to take a screenshot of it. Glad I got to see this again.

Doing champ is even more of a grind, I'm in 1% for nitro but only 10% for champ.

also note that none of these people are in the top for the championship leaderboard, and you can't exactly exploit for winning races online

EVERY fucking time I go on that track at least 2 clocks get activated and CONVENIENTLY right when I'm about to take a shortcut. With any other track there's just as likely to be no clocks, but I can't ever seem to have a race on that one track without clocks fucking up EVERYTHING

how can it be that when I'm neck in neck and exactly on the same spot as oxide's ghost in sewer speedway, that I get flattened by the barrel and he doesn't? I get that the ghosts are just what they did, and not where the obstacles were, but I would think that the ghosts were recorded on the same instance of the track that I'm playing, and not one where the obstacles are in different places or not even active at all

Oxide is easy on Electron Avenue. In fact he's easy on almost all of the CNK tracks besides Tiny Temple and Deep Sea Driving.

Drift at least twice and jump on a ramp then angle yourself out straight and jump at the last second before u get off the ramp to the shortcut

2nd one you get hit by a collision from another player who is going much faster than you at an accelerated pace by the time he hits the boost pad, thus pushing you off to the side and hitting the death fall-off thresh-hold.

Easy for you and easy for me are two different things. So far I've only been able even beat N. Tropy on 3 different stages (and one of those was abusing an out-of-bounds glitch).

That being said, I am skipping most of the CNK time trials for now.
I did try Electron Avenue once (haven't gotten Tropy to appear yet, but I know I can cut my time down from that), but mostly I'm sticking to the classic stages because I think you only need to beat N. Tropy on those to unlock him.

Air braking is basically u-turning without holding reverse. Instead of doing a semicircle pattern, you slow down your trajectory and rotate your kart midair. When you let go of brake, your trajectory will change to the direction you're facing.
As for why you need to hold reverse for any of this to work...lulIdunno.

if you take the full path it's the same distance as if you hadn't taken the shortcut to begin with. The only reason you'd go there is if you desperately need wumpa fruit, aren't holding fire from the previous turbo pad, or if you're dodging a warp orb.

if you can't hold fire for that long, you're hopeless against most people anyway so getting fire on a new turbo pad won't help you there since the next turbo pad isn't too far away, you're still better off cutting the corner.
