bump
I'd like to know as well

and before people say 'there's a demo', there may have been patches on the full game.

why not watch one of the billion videos on youtube?

it's not that bad

There are frame drops, but they don’t impede play at all.
I know it sounds drone-ish but I think the type of game it is isn’t really affected by performance as much as most.

It's noticeable for sure. Handheld mode seems to be a little better but the text and UI is really small.

The biggest problem this game has is that the switch version takes like 3 minutes to load from a cold boot.
After the initial load time it’s smooth sailing though.

Never trust a Switch-tard's opinion of a port. They're fucking delusional. They said VC4 was fine too and it looks godawful docked.

So what's the best place to set up your people/farm in the Green Gardens area? I know there's quite a bit of ground by the river you revive, but I'm kind of tempted to use the valley near the rock the tablet is on and just open a path for the river to flow into a basin so they can get to the water right away.

Watch some japanese lets players.
They been building some big stuff on that island you can go crazy with and yeah theres slowdowns but i wouldnt say you shouldnt buy just because of that.
Also in handheld mode its actually stable and thats where i spend most of my time with this game.

I did that. Worked out fine and you can build cool shit on/by the waterfall.

Not buying this game on switch is a mistake. It runs great. No where near as bad as anyone is making it seem. 40 hrs in and had minimal fps drops

Seriously one of the best games on switch besides minor minor minor drops.

Yea, I figured the area by the river will just become the forest the brat keeps yammering about, maybe make use of that little grotto that's underground.

So glad they changed it that weapons only break certain shit so you can just clobber invading monsters and not accidentally blow holes in the walls of your buildings.

Probably if Dragon Quest Warriors 2 is anything to go by it runs like dogshit.

Frame drops are pretty ugly but they don't make it unplayable. Anyone saying otherwise is a straight up shill. Strangely enough it works better in portable mode rather than docked, guess the resolution change helps it. It also makes my switch get pretty damn hot but it hasn't overheated yet so there's that. Would have been nice if the frames weren't a problem but it's still pretty comfy.

I’m summing this up for you fags in later threads.

>Are there frame drops?
Yes
>How bad do they get?
Minor but consistent annoyances most of the time with a FEW really chugging moments.
>Should I get PS4 or Switch ver?
Only get the Switch version if you want to play it portably and the portable mode has less frame issues. Otherwise get the PS4 version.

Ps4 does that too

Certainly odd the game has these issues at all, it barely looks that much different from the first game graphically. Guess it's the cost of making the world so much higher and deeper than before.

Thanks for the valuable input, but I prefer answers from people who actually played the game don’t make shitty conjecture because muh console wars.
DQW2 was a fucking launch game anyway.

>and it looks godawful docked
>using docked mode for games available on other consoles

But DQB1 runs fine. 30fps vs 60 on PS4, but otherwise smooth sailing.

Yes. It doesn't bug me that much personally though. Island 1 is fine, Island 2 had some hitches and this third winter Island is a goddamn trainwreck in certain parts of the map.

How many kinds of blocks are there in this game? Can I go full autism like minecraft with multiple colored wool blocks making pixel art and shit, or is that not possible?

Lots of blocks. Just look at the Builderpedia and you'll see there's a fuckload of things you can learn to make and tons of materials to eventually bend to your will.

As for pixel stuff, pretty sure they got that in this game just like the first one, and you don't have to do anything special like jump on enemies like in that one.

but its portable

For some people, that's not an excuse. I don't mind much so long as the game isn't becoming a slideshow, but that's only if the game is reaching like 15- fps, and as far as I understand, this doesn't get nearly that bad unless you've got something like huge cities.

Liar, I've been playing this game exclusively in handheld mode and it routinly shits the bed. Chapter 2 is a major area of problem, at first it was just a slightly lower fps due to all the crap lieing around, then it turned to a laggy mess by the time I got all my villagers. The game was literally pausing for seconds at a time at one point. Yes it's only in areas with alot of shit in it but I WANT to make a ton of shit, and knowing i'll absolutely destroy the framerate if I do is a major bummer when it's a BUILDING GAME!
