The original BOTW was going to come after SS and before OoT and deal with the master sword getting broken and releasing Demise who had been sealed inside of the sword at the end of SS, freeing him to make his curse a reality, and then repairing the master sword by tempering it with those timestones from skyward sword that would also explain the time-control ability associated with the master sword in later games.
that shit is obviously not what botw is actually about, yet there are still hints through the in-game assets that were already fabricated, repurposed elsewhere. or truthfully, not actually serving any obvious purpose at all.
Even by the boxart/logo design, if you compared BotW thematically to the rest of the franchise, you would figure the damaged master sword plays big role in the game given it's designed into BOTW's logo and the collectors edition had a statuette of the damaged master sword.

wind waker, the king of red lions is on the box art. not the instrument, but pivotal to the entire game.

It's like they just looked at other popular games (skyrim, bayonetta) to just take ideas out of yet it doesn't work all that well, being able to chug items in the menu destroys any an all challenge the game could hope to offer, and the witch time dodge is so stupidly lenient you have to be braindead to not be able to activate it.
Master Mode is also garbage since it just scales up damage and hp of enemies instead of actually doing something interesting to make the game more challenging.
And what's the point of getting all the divine beasts if all they do is make a 4 minute fight turn into a 2 minute fight? I hate when games give you this "hurry and beat the bad guy!" trash yet you can just dick around for 50 hours before actually doing anything.

Master Sword design usually differs between games but not for BotW for some reason!
The key difference between its appearance in SS/BOTW compared to TP is that the TP version has golden inlays along the edge of the base of the blade where it meets the hilt -- where these golden inlays were absent in SS as well as BOTW.
