Japanese Game of Thrones.

Boring and souless continuation of a boring and almost souless colecthatlon of a game.

Suikoden is based, but only fellow boomers understand. Zoomies like get fucked.

One of the best JRPGs ever.

Great characters/story/graphics
terrible combat system

a great game where you use the best move over and over again and ignore 3/4 of the massive cast.

Luca Blight did nothing wrong

Bretty gud but really fucking easy. Like brain dead easy. I blame the hero's rune.

Great game about political powers under a proxy war of 3 out of 27 godlike entities. Greatest cooking minigame ever. Combat is easy to become OP.

>brain dead easy

The boss fights are challenging if you don't abuse OP runes and characters.

Suikoden1 actually had challenge outside of boss fights. Using auto battle could be a bad idea. Not with 2.

Do u have to play Suikoden 1 before 2? I hear 1 isn't that good.

One of the best RPGs ever made. Suikoden I-III being the best ongoing story in RPGs. If only Konami wasn't Konami...

They're wrong, 2 is just better

Dumbest description ever.

You don't have to. But you should. Because you can transfer over the save to the next game.

>5 that high
>4 that low

one of the best jrpgs

It's fun and there is a patch out to fix the fuck ups that happened in localization, such as music not playing at certain moments and the like

what fuck ups in localization? I've played the game about 15 times and I've never seen a real fuck up

Pic related is notorious, music not playing during tactical battles, among other things.

s'cool

I really liked managing and growing my castle. Don't remember anything else about the game.

huh, never seen this

Prove me wrong, pro tip: you can't

One of the best games ever made which got zero support from Konami. So it didn't sell much when it came out. But despite no support, it developed a strong niche fanbase and is still very well known. Because of how good it is. It's also one of those games like Chrono Trigger where people who hate JRPGs and anime still end up liking it. Because it takes most of the best tropes and cliches in anime and either improves or subverts them. It also just has damn good world building and story.

It's only in the NTSC-U version, PAL doesn't have those problems.

Why is that kid wearing the crown of the Monkey King?

Really good game that inspired tons of other RPG's.

>Suikoden V
>takes 10 hours to finally get going

Just finished Suikoden 2 as my first Suikoden game. What should I play next?

Attached: 1385527986312.jpg (480x640, 105K)

It's called setting up the story and I'd say 2 takes a good long while to get going as well.

>silent protagonist
Into the trash it goes.

Suikoden 3 was objectively a shit game but I still enjoyed it more than 2 because Geddoe and Chris were badass and Thomas was adorable.

Meanwhile Riou is shitty blank slate.

Suikoden V has a weak story, 3/4 the cast is forgettable, the strategist is perfect, ugly 3D models, pacing is horrible and lacks the tone/beats of a Suikoden game. Only thing that connects it to Suikoden is the use of runes and a couple character cameos. But if you took those away, it could be a stand alone game. And without the Suikoden name, it would have been yet another forgotten JRPG.

Despite my harsh critisisms of the game, much of that is the fault of Konami. Forcing the game to be 3D, yet on a budget smaller than a 2D Castlevania game. Driving away the original creator. Horrible working conditions. Not caring about the lore of the series. Etc. Suikoden III and IV had similar problems. I honestly think Suikoden should have kept using the Suikoden II engine, to save on cost and time. Suikoden III could have been finished and the creator might not have left. Then Suikoden IV and V could have continued the story instead of being weak prequels.

Suikoden II starts pretty much 1-2 hours in. Depending on how slow you read. Heck, for some people it starts right at the beginning when the Highland camp is attacked. Suikoden V has you go on various fetch quests and pointless scripted arena battles. The story it sets up is a painfully obvious red herring for a character death. And you spend more of your time running through huge empty towns. They could have cut down that whole prologue to just the first town you visit, then returning to the main kingdom where the Queen dies. The rest is filler. Then after you're finally allowed to go explore the world...most of the rest of the game is pointless filler too. Pic related is pretty much the only meaningful and interesting arc in the story.

I played all Suikoden games and I have no idea who that is. The only girls I remember are Odessa, Lorelei, Viki, Oulan, Chris Lightfellow, Cecile, Lucia, Oulan, Hanna, Yoshino, Sonya Shulen, Nikea, Faylen, Serah, Kasumi, Ronnie Belle, Emily, Valeria, Syaledes, that big boobed chick who is in all games and Kisara.

based
what the fuck could you possibly put lower than 4 it's one of the most blatantly unfinished jrpgs i've ever played

It's Luserina Barows from Suikoden V. But I don't blame you for forgetting her. I forgot all the characters from Suikoden V except like 6 characters.

It's good.

I disagree with the tier list

>fucking up during the climbing minigame

You reminded me that I need to play 1 through 3. Thanks, OP!
I've been meaning to for years, but I always get sidetracked by other vidya or just shit in general.

>Literally anytime theme of sadness played with Nanami.

a bloo bloo'd hard.

so does atelier not fall under weeb because the characters lick pussy?

Should I use Viktor or Rikimaru? both are based and im not sure which one is stronger.

Suikoden is based heavily on the four core Chinese novels. Suikoden being the Japanese name for The Water Margin. But there's elements of the other three. Including Journey to the West. Also, he trains under a martial artist master. Basically, it's the artist making a subtle hint to Chinese designs.

Viktor

Not enough storage space the game

Suikoden 1. Then replay 2 with your file transferred over
