Mario Strikers Charged was pretty fun. It's literally Sportsball though, it's not really any existing game. Something like a combo of soccer and rugby.

I'm a fan of non-serious fantasy/fiction sports games. I fucking hate real sports and the celebrity worship culture and stat cocksucking that goes along with it in "normal" sports games, but my bro and I had tons of fun playing shit like NFL blitz, NBA jam, even looney toons b-ball when we were growing up, because they were actually made to be fun and offbeat with super powers and special moves or had interesting characters.
