Input Lag

Finally caved and bought a Nintendo Switch a few days ago (after the reveal of the Switch Lite since I wanted to make sure the "Switch Pro" wasn't coming out any time soon before dropping $250 on the current Switch model). Anyway, the reason I'm making this thread is due to the astonishingly high input lag the Switch seems to have in comparison to literally every other console I own (ie: Ps4 Pro, Xbox One x, Wii U, Ps3, and Xbox 360 to name a few). Whether it's in handheld or docked mode the latency between when a button is pushed/ analogue stick is tilted and when the action is performed on-screen is incredibly jarring and makes many games feel sluggish and unresponsive. In particular, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen feels downright unplayable on Switch after coming from the Ps3/4, Xbox 360/One and PC versions simply due to how bad the lag is. I don't understand why there is not more discussion on this seemingly massive issue with the Nintendo Switch hardware. The most outcry I have seen has been for Smash Bros. Ultimate which has over 100ms of input lag, and (to my knowledge) is actually one of the LEAST laggy games available on the Switch. What the actual fuck is up with this shit?

I have no idea but I feel so validated that you made this thread. Thought I was going crazy.

thanks

How did you get it for only 250? In my area they are $370 usd.

Price match is your friend. Nowadays, many brick-and-mortar electronics shops will match prices of online retailers, even if those prices are discounted substantially. I got my Xbox One X back in February for $200 new using this method too. You really gotta check prices online on a daily basis in order to catch em in time since a large majority of these sales last only 24 hours.

Haven't noticed any of that on my machine. Your switch sounds broken

I don't own a switch, but a few days ago I played a BOTW demo at Target. The input lag was very noticeable and the resolution looked like ass on the screen (granted I was standing right in front of it, but it was still pretty bad).

I still think it's a good system and I will buy one when the revision comes out, but I know I will get lag, shitty resolution, and joy con drifting after four months of use. I just really want to play BOTW and SMM2.

Is this another falseflag thread?

Get a faster tv

My right joycon X button started clicking really hard. I have to press hard, I hear a click, then I just a button press. No joycon drifting and no other button has this issue. Any ideas?

Didn’t read lol

Soulful gif

Your system seems to be malfunctioning dude, mine works fine. But I don't play any online games, so that could be why. What games are you playing on it?

>Is this another falseflag thread?

Yup. The generic Switch images in OP are always a dead giveaway. Snoyfags clearly have nothing else to do now that they have no more games coming.

I don't have any noticeable input lag on mine, docked or undocked. Sounds like you got a bad unit.

>Finally caved and bought a Nintendo Switch a few days ago (after the reveal of the Switch Lite since I wanted to make sure the "Switch Pro" wasn't coming out any time soon before dropping $250 on the current Switch model)
Im so sorry for todays news.

>Snoyfags clearly have nothing else to do
but clearly you're too busy playing games on your switch to post on Yea Forums

>is actually one of the LEAST laggy games
nonsense

certain games i've tried though like katamari reroll have really bad input lag though. haven't really noticed it in any other title though so you prolly just have a gay tv

They announced the Mariko SoC version with higher tdp/battery efficiency not a Pro.

Been playing DMC1 on Switch both docked and handheld, lag would kill it but it's exactly the same as the PS4 version

Pro is getting announces start of next year

The switch native input latency is just atrocious. A lot of games are nearing unplayable levels; Why was taiko ever released for this trash console?

>Im so sorry for todays news.
It's alright bro. I need a Pro version of the Switch with more power for higher resolution and framerate. No interest in waiting til September for the Lite or HAC-001 revision. Also, I actually got a different Switch than the one I had in my OP's pic-related. LGPE may be a shit game, but I could not pass up such a huge discount (normally $400 down to $250), nor could I resist the limited ed. aesthetic.

god that new pikachu design is so fucking bad. nigger looks like pichu in that art. what happened??

>new pikachu design

It's literally only a few ms more than xbox, and a few ms less than ps4.
Nice shitposting though.

yeah that's still 10 years after pokemon red first came out you fucking nigger

>I bought a switch
And I sold mine. I'm sorry for your purchase. That will be the last nintendo system I buy. Luckily I wasnt memed into the wiiu as well. The switch lite is the only acceptable version of the switch. It's cheap and its what the switch is only good for and that's portability. All its shit online, shit graphics, shit kid games, and no prime 4 until probably the ps5 is released can fuck right off.

*dabs on you in hyrule warriors* later nerd

i'm having the opposite experience from the op. bought same day as lite announcement because i knew i didn't want the lite after seeing what it is. no input lag in handheld, no input when joycons put on the included controller rig, and i added a pro controller just this week and no lag there either. it felt just like playing on ps4. perhaps it exists but i'm less sensitive to it? not sure

shitoon 2 is also an input lag disaster.

>playing a third person childrens game controller console shooter
lol that was the first mistake. anyone who plays this shit doesnt deserve need or care about responsive controls in the first place.

>it felt just like playing on ps4
because it is just like on ps4, maybe even a little better.
These retards can't read numbers, so the only thing they really show is how horrible the ps4 must be by having even worse input lag.
Even if only by 10ms or so.

>just called GoW, Uncharted and Spiderman Ps4 worse than an input lag disaster
LOL, how will snoyfags ever recover?

Yeah, PS4 has terrible input lag too; what is your point?

that input lag on switch is a fucking meme, considering nobody complained about it on ps4.
It's literally all placebo, and retards fall for it every single time.

I mean, it's well documented across multiple games. All modern platforms have atrocious input lag. Double what they were just a generation ago.

Yeah, but literally nobody cares unless it is on switch, which is just kind of weird.

Judging by the 30,000 different consoles you own, it sounds like you're hitting wireless saturation in your own home/area. Take your switch to the middle of nowhere and see how it responds.

The Joy-Cons and Switch transmit a lot of data back and forth to each other. Gyro-data, HD Rumble Data, 2x Analog Data, Button Data, IR Data, Battery Info, Diagnostic Info, and more
This, combined with relatively weak radios mean that even light obscuring can cause massive delays and lags in input.
eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-switch-joy-cons-tested-are-there-really-de-sync-issues

Tips:
Turn off all the background wireless shit (it'll make other shit faster too, if you stop leaving 30,000 2.4ghz wireless things on)
Position the console front and center on your set-up
Position the console closer than others
Remove any obscuring items (don't stick it behind the TV, in a cupboard, or between a bunch of shit)
and don't play with the joycons at your sides, tucked into the couch like some mongoloids do.

Or, in general, don't play Wireless if your situation sucks (like in an apartment complex where there are 30,000 other 2.4ghz devices nearby)

Side Note: I don't own a switch. GF does, tho. Had to troubleshoot all this shit with her.

It's weird how Xbox One has the lowest input latency of all the current-gen consoles.

that is weird, it's only by a little but it always does.
Unless you count the Wii U, that thing had fucking magic input lag.

>just bought a Switch
>new model comes out in a few weeks
Bruh...

handheldplayers.com/2019/07/17/new-nintendo-switch-model-with-longer-battery-life-announced/

Seething snoyfag.

I doubt it's anywhere near this bad.

I've actually noticed the input lag is higher in handheld mode. Docked on my low input lag tv BOTW feels very responsive. In handheld I'm definitely noticing a slightly higher input lag.

you bought a switch
the console they teased is a "doesn't switch"
