So why did Kojima hate Portable Ops?

people liked a game he didn't make
I dont think he hates it, its just not canon
why do people say it's noncanon when mgs4 has flashbacks from it?
Fukushima did solid MGS games without Kojima. This and Ghost Babel were both good.
Fukushima didn't write PoOps, you memer. It was Gakuto Mikumo (who was also one of the writers for Survive).
I thought he did. Guess I'm wrong. Who did Acid cause I thought those games were fine too.
Fukushima co-wrote Acid 1 with Shuyo Murata and some guy named Moku Tochibori. Acid 2 was all Shinta Nojiri IIRC.
I mean he stole like 75% of the features from portable ops/+ for peace walker and then mgsv. I think he loved it, he's just jealous that he didn't make it cause he's a fucking talentless hack.
Fukushima is a hack. Murata is the real genius behind Metal Gear.
He's jealous that they came up with the grow-your-own PMC idea and he didn't. I actually think PO had a better story than both PW and TPP too. It's only downfall was being trapped on the fucking PSP.
That explains it, I thought both were good but the second one was way tonally different from the first, and they felt extremely disconnected world-wise.
They should have gone through and rerelease it on the PS2 like they said they would but nope, they just let it stay on the PSP
What a damn shame.
Calling to the Night is objectively and factually the best mgs song.

The trumpet in the first few seconds is so good I just want a whole instrumental track like that.
I couldnĀ“t get into it either. This is the only MGS I actually watched on YouTube instead of playing it. It felt really basic and tedious to me
Was the first mgs I played and the only reason i owned a psp and alsdo the one I played the most, i think played though it more than 30 times. Wish I could replay it again.
I wish there was a way to get the controls to not feel like shit and for the framerate to be better without speeding up the game on ppsspp.
Can you not just assign the camera buttons to a right stick through the emulator?
I don't know, but I enjoyed it more than Peace Walker.
Yeah, but it feels like garbage.
Well shit, that sucks. Pretty shitty that Peace Walker got into the HD collection and not PO.
Probably it wasn't a true "A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME" like Peace Walker was.
>I don't want to make Metal Gear games anymore
>Someone else makes one and comes up with a cool army building concept
>I suddenly want to make Metal Gear games again check out my cool army building idea!
Kojima is such a hack.
>being so desperate to bash kojima that you have to lick pure excrement
>being so desperate to gargle Kojima's balls that you have to shit on a game just because he didn't make it
Unironically better story than piss walker.
It is not canon for him.
It's cannon. Miller mentions it in PW.
The canon would unironically be better if the series had just stopped after PO.
I unironically agree
That was before Kojima reconned it in favor of PW
I appreciate PortaOps for its classic sneaking gameplay and for daring to limit and inconvenience the player, but it's unpolished as hell, and the writing (story, characters, dialogue, everything) is awful and lacks any of the charm, wit and depth that defines Metal Gear for me.
I consider it canon to the extent of "Big Boss did unspecified merc shit in South America" and that's it.
It is canon, Kojima said so himself. It's got a better story and OST than PW too.
It's basically what MGSV would've been had it been written by a fanboy instead of Kojima. No wonder Yea Forums likes it.
I hope you're not implying that MGSV was well-written.
It is.
Kojima has only ever said certain aspects of it is canon, but has never actually stated what they were.
I always suspected that its canon that Big Boss was on a mission in San Hieronymo and thats about it. If anything else about the game was canon, it would have effected PW and MGSV.
>It's basically what MGSV would've been had it been written by a fanboy instead of Kojima
Ironic that you say that, I have always felt that MGSV was just like bad MGS fanfiction.
because someone else directed it
He said certain minor details weren't canon. The majority is.
You mean flashforwards? Portable OPS released during the production of MGS4, Old Snake appeared in PO+ as a promotion.
Kojima gave up for PW and MGSV. The stories are fucking stupid.
Seconding. Portable ops at least tied itself to things that were still relevant to the series, MGSV tries so hard to be new that it practically creates it's own alternate continuity with the Unbelievably High Tech Equipment Diamond Dogs and XOF have access too.
It's the only mgs game his son likes.
>Null
>Campbell
>Successor Project
>Sokolov
>Big Boss getting millions of dollars at the end
>minor details
This guy knows his MGS.
>Trumpet
Look up Kenny G if you like stuff like that
I'm quoting Kojima you retard.

Heavens Divide is miles above Calling to the Night.
I know, I'm just saying that some of the huge plot points in PO that are completely forgotten about aren't really minor details. Rather clear in all his ramblings that Kojima really doesn't care about PO at all.
It doesn't matter, the rest of the OST makes PO's literally the best in the series. It's quintissential MGS.
It's actually amazing that people still think Kojima isn't a fucking autist.
Ok then fair enough. I personally don't replay any other than MGS 1-3, but Heaven's Divide is beautiful.
They are both equally great imo.
Snake Eater > Calling to the Night = Heavens Divide > The Best is Yet to Come > Cant Say Goodbye to Yesterday > Old Snake > Sins of the Father
