I like heartstone. I played it only for like 5 hours myself as free to play player few years back. Got to rank 14 as warlock zoo with my rarest card being implosion (deal 2 ~ 4 damage and summon as many imps). Then i gave up because everybody had better cards than me.

Ideal heartstone experience is simply watching daily ~20 minutes of best plays compilations on youtube. Kripp, this and that married dude with cute white doggo all play different decks.

What kills this game the most are cancer players who rope you every single round. And the timers. One round shouldnt last more than 30 seconds.

Hearthstones problem has always been the dev cycle and everyone knows it and tells them constantly. They let overpowered and unfun archetypes stay in the meta for an insanely long time then hemorrhage players until they get an uptick with the next expansion cycle.

Port WoW onto a new engine and make it look like a somewhat up to date game and I guarantee people would come back. That's why I have absolutely zero fucking interest in WoW Classic. If it was built from the ground up on a completely new engine and looked at least somewhat on par with modern MMOs, I would totally be down for it. But it isn't, and it's just the exact same shit from a decade ago, so I don't care about it at all. People can scream at me all they want and claim that they're bringing the "soul" back to WoW, but I'm not going to waste my time on it, and everyone else is acting completely gullible.

It really did, and the problem is that when Project Titan was making the change to become Overwatch, they started moving their resources all over to that. This could be felt extremely hard when Warlords of Draenor came around, which was also around the time that Hearthstone got made, too. They pulled so much time, effort, and money off of WoW to throw away at these projects essentially hoping to make a quick buck off of it, and after their initial explosion in popularity, notice just how hard that popularity has fallen. Considering the backlash that the Diablo mobile game received (AT BLIZZCON, OF ALL PLACES), they seriously need to stop taking their playerbase for granted and realize what their pillars are. Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. I have no idea what Activision-Blizzard has been thinking when they decided to treat their main properties with such an utter goddamn lack of disrespect.

People that actually played WoW from 4th quarter 2004 to 2006 will guarantee you it will fail to strike a chord with the mainstream. It is extremely niche. Modern gamers will hate all the travel and lack of excitement. WoW Classic is like an extremely chill game you use to get high and eat doritos. Like a modern day No Man's Sky. It will sell, absolutely, but people are not going to stay subscribed after a month or two. Only niche will be left.

I'd like to point out this post coincided with them removing two cards from standard mid-season (never done before), one of which was for a class that's been struggling to keep its head above water because it has no win conditions except for one card. Guess which card that is? It's the one they fucking removed with a week's notice.

The appeal of WoW at the time was that it was relatively casual. You could viably play it and never bother interacting with a single person, and still hit 60, even if grouping was far more efficient.
You only needed to keep on top of basic maintenance, food and skill costs.
Endgame was built up gradually via attunements, and had catch up dungeons/raids to gear people up.

Now, that qualifies it to be a hardcore MMO and it will still have a niche.

Of all the issues, and there are many, I think the biggest reason Hearthstone is dying is due to the frequency of new content. It comes out way too fast now and it's impossible to keep up without either spending a ton of money or sinking a lot of time into it by witch point you become tired and burnt out and you loathe the game. I get that they wanted to keep the game fresher by making new content relatively frequent but when all of that content is locked behind a paywall it just causes people to eventually disengage. This model makes for a viral game that gets loads of initial attention but burns through the player base very quickly and dies a swift death in the long run.
