>Is this even an Assassin's Creed game?
Not in the way you think no, Origins soft-rebooted the franchise.

No, but it's still pretty fun. Bought the season pass and got Ass Creed 3 with it, whereas before I had only played the first and the second game. Honestly, if they continued the downward slope from 3 (which was worse than 2 so far from what I'm seeing, IMO), then it's good that they changed genre. They made the games that let you feel like a straight up assassin, and you can go back and play those if you want that, but this new direction is pretty satisfying, and the new "tour old history stuff" they're adding really rubs my knob for history.

Isn't there schools in this game just like the witcher?

What? No.

At least it's better than the witcher 3.

No, they are fun games without identity now. Whether or not you like that is up to you.

had more gameplay depth than the witcher, it's an objectively better GAME

stop

It's decent but once you play about 20 hours of it, you basically experience the whole game and drop it. I can't imagine the main story being good

It's true.

Same, hadn't played since II. I enjoyed Origins more but this is still pretty fun, picked up the Ultimate edition when it was $40 in February. Loving all the Greek mythological beasts and jump from heaven to hell settings (Elysium and the Underworld).

Souuds like the witcher 3.

They didnt go on a downward slope. They came back with black flag then unity and rouge in the same year. The peak of the series.
They only had to reboot after they took a step backwards with syndicate because of how fucked unity was at launch

Yes. Despite not featuring an actual assassin it is an assassin's Creed game, well more like proto assassin's creed game desu. The last dlc episode that released just a couple days ago is lore heavy and falls in line with what was previously established. Even Juno was there in the actual flesh.

Elysium is pure unabashed kino.

>They made the games that let you feel like a straight up assassin
cringe

Should I skip this to play unity?

Few things are as satisfying as Sparta kicking someone off a ledge and watching them fall 200 meters to their death.

>whistles for magic horse
>autoruns to quest objective
>"Misthios, soldiers, they have stolen my most treasured sword! You have to get it back!"
>Hint: The soldiers are in the northwest part of Hercules' Anus at the Fallen Trees Camp
>"Hela, hela!"
>plays i-spy with yellow circle
>looking through dense foilage - "Ah, there it is!"
>try to assassinate but only take away half of health - entire camp alerted BUM BUMBUM BUMDELEDOOO
>kill soldier - +50 XP -10 NATION STABILITY A BOUNTY HUNTER IS TRACKING YOU THE NATION LEADER IS VULNERABLE
>spend 5 minutes whittling down base leader
>pick up equipment that'll be outdated in 10 minutes
>autorun back to questgiver
>choices: give back the sword or keep it for yourself
Wow...

if you actually want to play AC skip odyssey and origins

Walmart Witcher. No, it isn't an AC game. AC is dead.

Oh yeah, I watched that vid like halfway through my playthrough, got me into watching a buncha extra greek shit for context. Really the reason I thought to buy the game, and I think they did a good job immersing in the era, or better than any other game I've played so far, at least.
So if I want more of the OG style of games I should play flag, unity, and rouge? They just keep getting progressively more modern, right?

When do you get here, I'm trying to play this game and literally everything already feels filler/MMO sidequest tier.

Fate of Atlantis DLC, Episode 1

You gotta complete the whole game basically before you get to do elysium and shit, if that's all you really wanna do you should just skip to it with that main menu option. The game is super grindy, they really wanna get you to buy booster packs, so unless you're autistic enough to RP your way through the grind it's gonna be a real chore.

Twitter mob throws a fit about family ending in Legacy of the First Blade but no one complains about a literal fucking child murder in the storyline. Honestly what was the point of killing a kid in an AC game? I'm still seething about this.

If it makes you feel any better, you actually help her reunite with her family in the afterlife.

I did that but it was still wtf when it happened. I murdered Aspasia without second thought when the opportunity came up.

probably going to get this game after playing origins . but does it matter much if you choose alexios or kassandra?

Not it's not

That's basically all Asscreed games for years now. Last one I played was Origins and I quit half way in, it was boring as hell.

>family ending
What are Twitter SJWs upset about in this? Having a straight marriage with children is triggering to them or something?

how's the dlc coming along for odyssey, is it finally finished? and how much would everything cost and is it worth it (i liked the main game quite a bit and probably sunk in 100+ hours finishing every quest available)

It doesn't make a difference.
Exactly. There were options in the main storyline where you could make your character pursue gay romances so that community raged at the ending.

I dont even like the witcher 3 but it's much better than asscreed has ever been especially odyssey and origins.

It is tho, the witcher 3 has ZERO roleplaying in it, the combat is terrible, the loot and progression system is terrible, the world is dead since you can't interact with anything, alchemy sucks and you can't even fucking jump. All it's got going for it besides production values are the narratives you get to play part in, but those are far and few in between. At least AC Odyssey has a fun gameplay loop.

uggly mutt.

>Is this even an Assassin's Creed game?
No and that's a good thing. First Asscreed i enjoyed after 2.

I tried to enjoy the game but microtransactions and literal fucking dailies in a singleplayer game is some gay shit.

Game was alright felt like it was COPY PASTE the video game, only thing that was any decent was the bounty hunter fights and the mythical fights. other than that legit copy pasted everything
6.5/10

>Walmart Witcher
best description of this game I've ever seen

based

At least fighting and running around is fun. Also
>no malaka
weak.

>the very fundamental part of the story is you're seeing the past via passed down DNA
>what do you mean my strong female character has to have a biological baby for that to happen?!

>Let's make an assassin's creed game
>But without the assassin things
>What about Templar and Ass... LOL who give a fuck!

extremely based

>He complains about a game he never played
The future protag uses dried blood to experience the main story, not genetics like the earlier game. It literally doesn't matter if the main character had a kid or not
What grinds my gears is it's another example of a company taking a game ostensibly about choice and restricting the player down a linear path. If you wanted the character to fuck a certain NPC in the end, why make romance options at all? Better yet why not just write a book if your story is more important than the player actually impacting it?

For me it's Curse of the Pharaohs

No. It's also a better RPG than Fallout
7 years ago I never thought I'd see the day where Assassin's Creed is more of an RPG than Fallout.

Is she the worst protagonist ever conceived in AC history?

Attached: ACO-DT_Layla.png (336x930, 431K)

I completely, utterly, and unironically forgot about her very existence. That says quite a bit.

What a hottie.

odyssey has better combat than the witcher 3.

what did he mean by this?

This is more of a turn your brain off RPG. Gives you the Witcher lite experience without requiring you to get too immersed into the story. There are enough interesting, unique quests. Kassandra is a cutie.

Anyway, the main reason I buy and will continue to buy every AC game is because they're the only ones who allow us to explore historical periods. History offers us such vast possibilities ans we're atill doing zombies? Fuck you, I want to explore beautifully recreated hiatorical settings.

Here's to Ghost of Tsushima.

>Loving all the Greek mythological beasts

now im tempted to get it.
i guess ill wait a few months to see if i can snag the gold version at a cheaper price

>why brown woman in my assassin creed

skipped every segment in both games. Know nothing about her.

>odyssey
>better combat than anything
good joke

Everything after the island is fucking terrible grindy bullshit.
I was completely sold on it until then

If you play the Fate of Atlantis dlcs, they make it quite how much she is mary sue and how much a psychopathic cunt she really is(though I doubt this was intentional on their part).

ive only played witcher 3 and i cant disagree with what u said. ill try out ass creed when its real cheap

sounds just like the witcher 3

I haven't followed the series for a while.
Who is this woman?
Where's Desmond?

>Anyway, the main reason I buy and will continue to buy every AC game is because they're the only ones who allow us to explore historical periods.
Same, I have never finished a single one of the AC games yet I still buy one every couple years because the setting alone will sell the game to me.

He's been dead since 3

I got 50 hours out of it, I think I'm about halfway through the story, I stopped at the Atlantis nonsense. Completely bored of it though, as much as I loved it I wouldn't pick it up at all. Loving Kingdom Come: Deliverance though, very invested

>Ghost of Tsushima
Is it coming to PC or is it PS4 exclusive?

not in a million years

Yes but at this point these games would benefit from being straight up new IPs. People are really tired of the AC series even after Origins was a strong soft reboot, especially the storyline that nobody cares about.

Black Flag and Odyssey should have just not had the AC name attached to them. Odyssey could have had a lot more mythological aspects which would have really elevated the game, even if they were used sparsely, and added to the variety of the game.

Imagine if they divided up their bloated ass Assassin's Creed team into three teams and split it into three franchises, that way they could have a game every year but each one would get two to three years of development time and be able to further separate themselves from the others.

AC one year, with a focus on stealth and less open world bloat.
Black Flag the next year with a focus on simulating a pirate life, building a crew, making money, etc.
Odyssey the next year with a focus on exploration and more visceral, action style combat with fantasy elements.
Then AC again and now it's had a ton of time to be polished into something worth buying.

All these fucking publishers want franchises they can pump out every year, but instead they should do like Nintendo and build a lot of successful franchises so people come to respect when one releases because they didn't play the exact same fucking game the year before. No one wants to play Far Cry every single year, no one wants to play Assassin's Creed every year.

She cute.
