Payed online used to be a valid service. Back when the internet was not really mainstream and you needed a centralized place to keep track of friends, it was totally valid. Now, everything is just match making and nobody talks. Most of the time games are Peer2Peer anyway, so they aren't even hosting servers for you to play on. And you can organize matches on Yea Forums. What are you really paying for? The permission to play on the internet?
