You could just look at the boxart of the Japanese release, or even just look at P4G and P5, where they dropped the SMT part of the title because Persona outdid it in popularity. You could look at Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor and Digital Devil Saga too, where they did the same thing.

There is no SMT timeline and MegaTen timeline. Nocturne takes place in a different timeline from SMT1 and 2, but with a small tie to 2 because of Hijiri, SJ is in its own timeline, IV is in its own timeline but it has some tie to SJ because of the Demonica, DDS is mostly on its own but has ties to Nocturne through the Amala terminals on Brahman and Demi-Fiend being in DDS1, and so on. The MegaTen series Persona has the closest tie to isn't even an SMT title, it's Devil Summoner because of the Kuzunoha's and some people thinking Raidou is responsible for the worlds of if... and Persona, though I don't agree with that idea personally.

All the same, there isn't an SMT timeline and then a separate timeline for all the other spinoffs, they associate with each other when ATLUS wants them to but whether they reference each other or not doesn't change that some are SMT and some aren't, and Persona is not. That's not a good thing or a bad thing, but it's how ATLUS has classified it and so it is not SMT.
