It's easy to patch games on the Switch. Smash 4's patches had to be well thought out because of 3DS limitations making too many patches impossible. It's why Smash 4 had Roy, Lucas and Ryu released together. Expect to see small patches like this as amiibos get released.

It's not to add the amiibo feature to the game, it's to make the new amiibos work with the game.
Yeah that isn't great for Japan, but it's an ideal time for Europe. Maybe that's who they're concerned with selling it to the most this time around, DQ's situation might be worse in europe than it is in the US. (and of course this presumes Lupin post is real).
